Hmmmm, I'm not always good with bargains......

Was watching something yesterday and thought I had time, but when I got back from the loo, it had just ended.:(:o

I was also watching this, but sometimes items go for barmy prices. It's in great condition, but £184 for an ancient machine?

I could, but it's a bit like fishing in a heavily-stocked lake, it takes the fun out of it!

If I was doing it as a business, I would.

Sounds like you'll be dead posh Alfie. How exciting for you.

Quite dull & drizzly here. Must shake a leg & actually get something done.

This afternoon was spent attempting to scrub the inside of a IBC tank for going on the hill. All mouldy & disgusting, but quite tricky getting a brush in there taped to a long bit of stick.

Also painted some new skirtings - new paint is quite rubbish compared to the good old fumey poisonous stuff. This new stuff needs at least three coats on top of primer - I'm not impressed.

Went to retrieve a bucket I left down the bottom field when the lamb got in there - I missed the bright pink bucket for using to get water to clean the tank. I am shocked at the height of the bracken down there - I could hardly see above it. I am still awaiting my sythe coming, but feel all daunted at the prospect of taming the ground...........

I feel quite dauunted myself, the way grass and weeds have taken-off since the rain arrived, but I suppose I'll get on top of it eventually.

Solstice day was supposed to be partially rainy, but we didn't see any wet stuff. I finally managed to plant out all my squashes and courgettes and have a small bonfire, while in the polytunnel, the tomatoes were popped into the deep beds....very late! :o

Choille I use little green paint company and although they're more expensive than your usual high street brands, they're well worth it. The coverage is much better, the texture is great to work with and they have a lovely finish. I find I save in the number of coats the extra cost of the paint, if that makes sense.
My fence is coming along well, they are putting the boards in today and tomorrow should start my new arbour bench, then I can paint the fence, I have compost arriving today or tomorrow just to improve the soil a little. Although from the amount of weeds in it, it's fertile enough! Then I will plant what I've got and see what else I need...no doubt tons of plants will be needed.
In other news I've also decorated my spare bedroom with paint I already had. So the only cost was my time.

All the decoration here has ground to a halt.:o We're outside whenever possible because the garden and outdoor building works need us.

Today I demolished the remaining conservatory walls, while DW began the tedious task of reclaiming golden gravel from around it, which we'll probably put into the new soak-away we'll be building. Waste not, want not etc.;)

Our builder found a farmer near him who's collecting blocks and bricks to crush for a new track, so we loaded-up the van and drove over there tonight. I'll make a similar run tomorrow and that will be another skip saved. Pete has also offered to take away the soil we'll dig out for the new foundations, so that's the difficult job of disposal sorted. :D

DW went to see Horse Woman in hospital on Monday, when she got a very 'pruned' account of HW's eastern escapade!

HW returned today, or maybe late yesterday. She's currently confined to the downstairs of her house, but there are medical/social workers visiting for support. We'll drop in too and a kind lady nearby is cooking a meal for her each evening, so that's the immediate future taken care of. A couple of us have keys and we're on the panic button system that's in place, but let's hope there aren't many panics!

Thanks for that Fay - I'll bear that in mind as I seem to be never ending recoating paint work. It's tedious.

Dave you all sound like good neighbours - very good neighbours indeed.

Sadly we don't really seem to have that here - suppose it's the amount of 2nd home ownership.

It's one reason I would move - the main reason I would move. Really found it hard when OH couldn't drive or when he was in hospital & I had to try & arrange transport - I don't drive! I wouldn't know where to look for a good neighbourhood thing, but I would definately move to somewhere on a bus route that is more than 3 buses a week.

We pop in on a neighbour who isn't well, but it's hard going & I get them bits & pieces of shopping when we are out, but I can be 2 hours delivering it as I can't get away - sorry shouldn't moan, but it is quite depressing sometimes.
