CTC - good to stay positive. Good news with the piglets too.:j
Great with the weight loss too. I lost a stone over a few weeks when I had that virus cough cold thing. I haven't regained it & I am eating less sugar & just less of everything & I feel much better for it - less out of puff when walking up slopes.
Raining quite heavily here today. I did do some listing on the bay as I have to get rid of the mass of clutter that is taking over the place.
Had a guy down to price levelling around the house & surfacing the track & doing the ditches at the sides. We have another coming on Thursday evening - given up on the one who should have been here/given us a price weeks back. It's like pulling teeth is getting folks to come.:(0 -

Yep, that's how I ended up watching YouTube videos on bricklaying after giving up on tradesman to do the dwarf wall in the garden. The plants hide any imperfections...:cool:0 -

The previous owners moved the drive, which was good, because it took the neighbour's traffic away from our house, but it also meant we had to put down a temporary hardcore roadway to the re-sited front door and a large area for unloading lorries. It's impossible to stay clean for long unless there are slabs, or whatever, as a buffer between that and the house.
As soon as the diggers are out of the way for good.....:)....oh, and the building control guy, because I suspect we'll want more slabs than the new regs allow!0 -
what a poop weekend !
sadly I lost one of my darling puppies.. the smallest one suddenly went down hill, took to vet and started to bottle feed but she passed on. so upset. vet says obviously had something wrong that got worse as time went on. possible heart/ lungs.
I was trying to fix field fence and yanked a post and popped the joint out/in on a finger  so that's sore !
yesterday afternoon I thought ,right, just go for a relaxing walk with storm [white cob] along the riverside walk and chill out... great......until half way I encountered a mass of vivid lycra clad joggers/runners heading my way
it was apparently a 3 phase event /run/swim/cycle....
as the walk is through woods/by river, no where for me to go ! so I went with the flow which by the time I turned round at end ...so had the runners so met half of em on the return... not exactly "chill out" day... but funny!
the other thing is.... on Friday I was returning home , up gravel track, when I saw a SNAKE on the track. I slowed down but as I got closer I could see clearly the sheer size of it ! it was about 3ft ,with the wiggles, so had to be at least 4ft long and big ! it was at the thickest part like inside loo roll [only comparison I can think of ]... dark brown with faint black mottle . it was just still when first spotted but took off like a jack rabbit as I got nearer [I was within 10ft of it...] it was massive ! can see a smooth snake pic ?? but what else ?0 -
Sorry about the pup, alfie. Congenital defect losses are just as horrible/upsetting as any other, but at least you know it was inevitable, and there's no 'Could I have done more?'
Grass snakes can be impressively large, but then, as you say, you have that other one in your area, and there are pets that have been lost or 'liberated' to consider too.
I found a massive terrapin about 7 years ago. Easy to ID, but I wonder if it survived the winter 2009/10?0 -
Sorry to hear the sad news Alfie..
It's horrible. When we showed dogs, and had some litters. We had that. With a puppy. I think they call it fading puppy syndrome. The vet can't put an exact reason why the die, they just fade away. The vet told us it could be that they weren't quite developed inside??Work to live= not live to work0 -

very quiet on y'ere.....
I hope I haven't depressed you into a corner chair with a cup of Horlicks !!
4 remaining pups are doing well...
yesterday had 2 chaps turn up to "check work HAS been done on your leccy poles"... they asked via a map where a certain pole was, I spotted it was in where jim jam the stallion is so I tentatively asked if they liked horses ! both said ...not really. so I went ahead, caught jim jam and beckoned them in... they shot in, checked the pole and shot out again !!:rotfl:
meanwhile jim jam saw them out of the corner of his beady eye and lept in the air... bearing in mind hes BIG, I went up with him ! and he landed on my foot  ouch ! sank in the mud tho so just bruised...
been drizzle raining here for 24 hrs so far... hope uv had it better ?0 -
I'm quiet because I've been tidying my room like a good boy. :A I've hardly ventured outside at all. Rain!
Yesterday, I had a horrible afternoon, thanks to the wind, which decided to knock two sets of cables down on different routes to Sainsburys......and Horse Woman wanted me to get her certain products from that store. :undecided
I gave up trying to reach the Barnstaple branch, as they'd closed the A39 and the traffic was just car park, so I decided to use a bit of local knowledge I thought I had.....except that it was 45 years out of date!:rotfl: Well, how was I to know they'd opened a new quarry? My car now has a roughcast finish.....
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I turned around and headed for the South Molton branch, only to find more cables down, although the police/ fire brigade soon had it sorted. Think they were just phones.
By then the wind was really going some, so instead of hanging nicely on the back of the trolley, my bags took off. 'Bag for Life?' No! They flew across the car park and then two cleared the fence into some gardens. Grrr!
I managed to buy most things on HW's list, but I knew the journey home would be hairy. It was just as well I hadn't made it to the Barnstaple branch, because the radio told me the route back from there was blocked by a fallen tree. Instead, I ran the gauntlet of small branches through the Mole Valley woodlands, but having them constantly pinging off the widscreen wasn't very nice.
No damage here, from what I can see, other than the one productive courgette I had, lying about 3m from its roots. Could be worse...:)0 -
I've lost track of what I've told you about the last few weeks, been reading but not energy to reply. Apologies if repeating stuff.
Dear MiL died 5 June, we had Cremation (very quiet, just close family, no service, we sent her off in a wicker basket) on the Tuesday, followed by Celebration of Life on the Saturday. Then following Thursday Funeral of OH's cousin's wife - she was only 61 so now I'm feeling very old.
Anyway I'm more or less just copying and pasting what I put up on FB as no energy to write it all up again!:
My Brown Envelope of Doom containing letter from DWP telling me my (indefinite) DLA was finishing was waiting for me on our doormat when we came home from Mary's (dear MiL) Cremation. Invited to apply for PIP. Made the phone call this Monday, or rather OH did - though I had to listen through it all and agree to stuff. Which included more or less - DWP can give all your medical and all other details to anyone we like cos if you don't agree to that you don't get any benefits.
Today OH got text to say they've sent the form off. Will prob arrive in a week's time if previous mailings they've sent to me are anything to go by. Have MEA notes, Benefits and Works notes, and Disability Rights Handbook to help me. Just hope can manage...
Last 2 days I've had gut pain, and yesterday having woken a lot overnight I slept most of the day. Today I've stayed awake, but not felt well enough for the planned bath prior to visit to Health Centre tomorrow afternoon for lung checks (being offered to everyone in B. P. P. Health Centre who has smoked in the last 40 years). Fingers crossed feel well enough to grab a bath tomorrow morning!
Suspect my guts are reacting to Brexit.0
