Hmmmm....we start on the dreaded drainage today. Pete is coming here with his digger tonight, but before that we'll need to check the fall available with a laser level, so my FiL is bringing his.
I think our chosen route goes through the paths of two soak-aways, but we'll just have cope with those if/when we hit them.
The van is loaded up with the old fireplace bricks and lots more rubble which we shall add to the farmer's pile for crushing. He hasn't told us to stop yet! :rotfl:
Meanwhile, I sold our old loft water tank on the Bay yesterday.....and won a camera to replace my point n'shoot, which points, shoots and consistently produces slightly out of focus pictures. :undecided
My old 2006 Sony goes on and on, but the modern superzooms are too highly strung and don't seem to last more than 3 years or so.0 -
Nothing much happening here with me. I need to get some pics up of the garden now the fence is done, painted, bench done and borders planted. Give them a year or two and they will bed in and then I can re evaluate. Weather is quite up and down.
I also feel constantly drained and have a horrid rash on my neck, arms and face. GP has kept changing their mind and now think it could be psoriasis so I have ointment to use twice daily, but it doesn't seem to be changing it. Luckily none of my patients have started commenting as it would be a great diversion for the ones who want to avoid talking about theirselves lol0 -
You've been busy Fay - Will be lovely to sit out in & admire.
Sorry about the rash - sounds like you could be a bit run down - possibly?
If it is psoriasis then you have my sympathies - I have it, but usually only one small patch on my ankle, but if it flares up it can spread & is dreadfully itchy. I've just made a rub out of birch eaves that have been soaking in oil for a month - supposed to be good for it.
Chucked it down all day. Half light - feel jiggered, even hairy cat is sleeping with his head tucked under - all you can see is his forehead - he's so cute when he does that.0 -
There we go, photos. I figure it's been a bit quiet in here so hopefully you won't mind there being a few!
Choille I think I could be a bit run down. I have had it over 3 months now though. I'm sure the stress at work doesn't help although I don't feel stressed. In my job you absorb a lot of stress though and don't notice it.0 -

I like the colour of the fence. The bench looks very substantial - you're all neat & tidy - I'm a disaster zone here.
I should have been getting outdoor stuff done, but it's never stopped all day - the burn is a roar.0 -
That side of the garden looks neat and tidy but the rest doesn't lol. The veg patch is rather weed infested and will need to wait until next year for a design.0

It looks marvellous - I am totally out of control............& you should see the garden.0

Sympathies Fay. Psoriasis is horrible. I had it as a younger person, when it affected my hands, making then rough, cracked and sore. I found it was partly stress related, but it cleared-up when i got into my twenties, thank goodness. Hope yours clears too.
Had a bit of a full-on day. Outlaws arrived and immediately wanted to locate a drain pipe, which I'd not dug up, so I spent the rest of the time till around 4pm digging myself into an increasingly large and deep hole!:(
We tried listening to drain rods being pushed through this drain, but as it was over 2' down, I misheard and dug in the wrong place for quite a long time.....
Then just as I found this pipe, Pete turned up with the digger and soon pulled-out a deep trench across the grass to take our new drain. He ended up in the flower garden, but as he'll be back next week to fiull all this in again (hopefully!) he just left the digger there! :rotfl:0 -
Your garden fencing looks great, Fay, and the new planting will fill out in no time. The black fencing will work to show off your plants in the same way as the black tablecloths do the same job on our stall.:)
I'm really impressed with your pergola seat too. Are you leaving it au naturelle or painting it? Looks set to last for a century, either way!0
