Couldn't sleep last night. Excited about the plumber starting work today!!! Fingers crossed we will have hot and cold water running from my taps rather than a hose pipe lol....

It's a major leap forward, having proper h&c, CTC! :j

We couldn't get over having 'real' water pressure too, instead of a dribble....

It was sunny and still last night, so I walked down to our new woodland and began trimming the trees and the hedge, which have mostly grown as they've wanted until now. It was so warm and peaceful, I got completely absorbed, until suddenly I realsed I was having trouble seeing things clearly.....it was nearly 10pm! :o

Hope for a few more of those evenings this year.....

Good luck with the plumber CTC - H & C running water is a major thing. How I still appreciate it after 7 years of not having hot water on tap.

Dave sounds like a wonderful evening & you achieved loads. Woods are lovely. I just love walking down through mine to the shore if it's not too midgie infested.

Went a run to Cromarty yesterday & it was lovely, had a very nice lunch & just pottered playing at tourists. Some wonderful gardens & the Cromarty Garden Club were doing up spme public spaces - planting them with fruit & flowers to encourage gardening according to their sign - lovely idea.

Off to Ullapool now. Good to be able to get about.

    Kittens - how wonderful.

We were at a house today & she has loads of hairy cats & a massive friendly Akita that adores them & they her. It was so funny to see.

You would love the house Alfie - all wood lined & three storys & a very interesting garden with many sheds filled with treasure that is just rotting into the ground, but she thinks everything is worth a fortune, She is a worse hoarder than I. Hope she doesn't read this & recognise herself!

Quite cool here but the midgies stayed off a while so managed to smash up some rotten wood - an old cable reel that is........rotting into the ground................but will be good firewood now.

I drew the short straw and went shopping for us and Horse Woman. :(It's a bit of a nightmare finding the brands she likes. It takes so l o n g, but at least she's eating. Nurse comes in once a day, physio once a day, carers 3x and neighbour cooks. We shop and chat.....well, DW chats! HW has never had so much social interaction in years. ;)

I think Pete will come up and make her hay, which is a real faff, because it's 2 miles each way, just to turn an acre! Goodness knows who'll bale it though......:undecided

Bought a couple more colour samples today so hopefully we'll agree on one and start painting the outside soon.

Down in the polytunnel, the first seed raised dahlias have begun flowering, which is always exciting. The new one, Mystic Fantasy, which has so far failed to throw up any shoots and just sits, undead, has provided most of the seed, and being isolated, it's babies are so far like their parent, but.....different.

What a good neighbour you are Dave. How lucky HW is having such caring people around.

The dahlia looks fabulous. I didn't know that I was allergic to them.
I used to work for a farmer & his wife & he grew them & I had touched one & then my face & it was like a burn. Took me a while to figure out what was causing it.

    Morning all.

So nice to hear as neighbours you are all helping and keeping an eye out for HW

Plumbers are nearly finished. They filled the system yesterday. And checked to make sure no leaks etc.. they are coming back later this afternoon ( on another job this morning) to finish a few bits, vand light the fire to check everything is doing what it should.. the house is nowhere near ready. But now the water and heating will be done. The electric will be done very so

Put it this way it brings a whole new meaning to having a rustic house lol..

    Morning all.

    Plumbers are nearly finished.... .

HW is slowly thinking things through and it wouldn't surprise me if she now realises that her driving days are over. She's no fool, but she was foolish neglecting herself, ending up hypo with diebetes and driving around like it didn't matter.

So she could well be selling-up before long, because even with a decent-ish bus service, this is not the easiest place to be without a car.

Good news about the plumbing and heating. We know from the last couple of years that winter can be a bit scary with a house which has holes and no insulation in it, but we came through OK. THe trouble is, it's impossible to know when the next 2009/10- type winter will arrive.

We've taken a similar plunge this morning and ripped out the wood burner and its fireplace. Hope to get something back there before Christmas! :o

The best news this week is that I have found a home for the old insulation, maybe most of it. I'm giving 6 dumpy bags full to an older lady who had problems with British Gas, just like we did. She has a neighbour who'll fit it. Another person may want most of the rest. :D

That dahlia picture was the parent, choille. I'll put up pictures of its children later when lots more have come out.

Weather good here...so we are stuck without the materials to finish a couple of outside jobs! Grrr!
