I'm back....for advice.
Garden is going nuts. I have peonies unfurling red shoots .....and the weather must turn cold at some point.... What the hell do we do then? Just fleece entire borders? I note Thursday night looks like a frost again( pfft, second of the season:( ) . Very pleased to have some cold weather...just want to do what's best for the garden, Can't see next year being that floriferous, too much in bud here, or flowering already.0 -
Nothing to do but wring your hands.
The wood anemones are out down the croft - very odd that.
We are to have more Frank gales - but it's weirdly mild just now which is good in some respects0 -
choille my DD was actually near the gateway to the trossachs - small hamlet above aberfoyle . She was a short walk from forestry area . We always ventured further upwards . I will reply fully later - just realised I've not eaten today !It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.0 -

Realistically, you can only fleece the most sensitive items with the necessary layers, but plants have a surprising ability to bounce back when they suffer a check.
I'm sure we'll receive some cold weather some point, but I must admit it's becoming harder to imagine with every warm week that goes by.
Blooming brushcutter has gone on the blink, just when I need it to tackle the grass that all the mowers can't deal with at present. It's just the carburettor jet blocked,I think, but I'm thinking of buying a more 'industrial' one as well.
Brushcutting is the nearest I get to whole body physical workouts. After all the festive food, I need to go strimming! :rotfl:0 -
Evening all
Do you know anywhere, where you can buy kitchen work surface off the shelf without waiting umpteen weeks for it? I am looking for the solid thick oak wood one?? The way things are going , I might go back to my original plan !! Either that I must have had the new trainee assistants everywhere I went lol.. The thing is the way we are setting the room out, we only need a few base units.. As its going to be a kitchen/ slob out room..why do they try and get a designer to call, to ' maximise ' the space..
You are so on the mark choille, they must be on a bonus every time they do a home visit or something lol..
In the bath now on my hudl, best way to de- stress!!Work to live= not live to work0 -

I've spent a few days in Callandar Pollyanna beautiful, beautiful place.
Hope you find your work surfaces CTC wish I could help. So funny. My dad was a kitchen fitter. The days where he would visit with his pencil behind his ear and his graph paper are long gone.0 -

I know nothing about them, but their reviews look genuine and usually positive.
We almost had to fight to get the kitchen we wanted. Two of the companies said, "Oh, we wouldn't do it like that!" when we brought a basic design to them.
We just said, "You probably will, if you want our business!":p
All they were concerned about was that we'd create a 'dark space' between the tall oven unit and the freezer. Well, it's not terribly dark, and we have LED lights under there if we need them. It's where we make tea and toast. Kinda handy having the butter and milk right there.....well, we thought so! :rotfl:
Fuddle, we had at least 6 different kitchen designers work on our design, using everything from the latest CAD to the squared paper and pencil. The only one that was a total let-down was a DIY shed, where they'd just installed a new and unfamiliar design package. After 2.5 hours of hard labour, our wonderful design disappeared into the ether.....:mad:0 -
