Evening all,
I HS...hope every will be OK...
Choille.. How is Mr Choille doing??
Wasn't going to do any shopping today, couldn't wait to get a certain type of acrylic craft paint so went to hobbycraft, then went to dunelm mill, and bought a pig shaped chalk board that I was eyeing up before Christmas ..good job as it was reduced, so treated myself to one... Then called to a small co-op for some bread, and they were doing their reductions.. Well it would have been naughty not to lol.. So got the freezer is now crammed full lol
The floor tiling is nearly done, so it will be kitchen shopping next week.. I think it more or less all off the shelf ..
We need to get heat into the ranch very soon, with all this rain the lime mortar is sticking n the moisture in the air, and there are damp patches forming at the cold spots....Work to live= not live to work0 -

No heating so not very good & I'm out in the caravan as he's gone for a lie down & I thought I'd have a catch up with news & the interweb.
Goodness, Manachester & other places look pretty badly affected with floods.

Just a quick picture of our kitchen/diner on Christmas Day. It's not very clear, but it's all I have.
Very bog standard style, but the tiles and matchboarding surround to the dining area make it less dull.
I think the camera has been quite badly affected by all the dust and grime over the past year or so0 -
I like the kitchen, its something similar milar to that we have been looking at. Originally we wanted a mis-match kitchen. But decided to have some basic units, we only need a couple...Work to live= not live to work0

Merry Christmas everyone. Sorry to hear some people are still having a tough time of it, let's hope 2016 is a better year.
Not much happening here. The fence is now back up thankfully and I had a lovely garden design book and new gloves for Christmas. The weather is making me feel quite itchy to get out there...but I have the usual cold I get when I have time off. I've had 2 cold sores in the last month so knew it would happen. Obviously nothing like some people are dealing with but annoying as I've put weight on and wanted to get back to the gym. Will leave today but try for tomorrow.
Dave I like your kitchen but then it's very similar to mine lol. One of the nicest I've seen is off the blog sew sweet violet. She had her kitchen done and she paid a lot for it as I think it's hand made oak, but you could get the look much cheaper. Small kitchen but done lovely with a. Gorgeous blind she made herself. Ahhhhh.0 -
Ours is a very middle-of-the-road kitchen. We wanted real wood, but facing north meant it had to be painted to keep things light, so it more or less chose itself.
If you can, avoid vinyl-wrapped doors. They used to be OK, but the EU banned the glue that used to be used, and some of the newer ones have been de-laminating. It's a problem for the industry, as a huge % of doors come from just one factory in Ireland.0 -
The one I love is painted too. Ours is a howdens kitchen which is solid wood painted. It's a nice enough kitchen but even when we moved in it had only been in a year and had some knocks on it. The work surface is solid wood...beech maybe, but the island is massive as it goes round th original outside wall which they decided not to completely remove, probably due to cost and left a large pillar. So the wood had s join it in and it's by the sink, argh. So we have filled it a couple of times, sanded and re oiled lots. But it wouldn't have been my choice had I renovated the house/ kitchen. But we definitely couldn't replace it lol0
