Lovely kitchen Dave - bright & airy & loads of work space. I love the spots - we have them in the bathroom & hall landing & little loo.
.I think the neighbours have got another dog - the barking coming from there has gone on all morning.
Oh is feeling a bit better & the swelling on his leg & knee seems to have really gone down a lot.
Good to hear OH is recuperating well.....just don't let him overdo it.
The LEDS are so cheap to run. We have strips of them under the wall cabinets as well. Makes a big difference.
Mr Dog's place has been deathly quiet for ages, but I am not being lulled into a false sense of security yet! I feel for you if your neighbour now has a barker.pollyanna_26 wrote: »the highlands ( my favourite place on earth ) ....... Stay safe and it's daylight gaze at those big skies for me please . P x
I think big skies come into their own in the darker months. I don't really get the SAD thing here like I did in the city, but maybe it's also because I'm forced to go outdoors more in winter than I used to be.0 -
Hmmmm.... we've now been asked by a third village market if we'd like to have a monthly stall.
It's tricky, because the building work is far from finished yet, but on the other hand, we could probably use the money!
This market would probably be more lucrative than the other one which has asked us to join, so I think we'll give it serious consideration.
There's also the thought in the back of my mind that our own village market may not survive, longer term. At the last one, a stallholder got stroppy, and as a result, one of the main movers & shakers decided she didn't need the aggravation any more.....:(0 -
Morning all
Davesnave always keep your options open, as they might ask another plant person if you say no. I am going to try and get some/ extra plants on the go this year..I am itching to start stuff, but this mild weather is foxing me!!
Might get the greenhouse sorted, and might think about lining it will bubble wrap.. Don't think I will heat it though..but will see how things go...
When will you start in the polytunnel davesnave??Work to live= not live to work0 -
Davesknave I have family near Exmouth . I agree Devon is beautiful .
Some of my most tranquil moments have been walking alongside the sea at Exmouth . I also love Dartmoor but also always want to bring a pony or two home ! Totnes is a favourite love the market and little shops . Afraid the Highlands have the edge - except the midges - I stood outside my daughters house many times at 1am gazing upwards millions of stars complete dark . Balm for the soul !
Nice to meet you PIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.0 -
Pollyanna - where about ws your DS?
The chalky paint look is handy to cover a load of pretent wood laminate. It is a good look & saves a lot of expense. The kitchen market is overpriced hype when you ask for the price of individual units they don't want to know they want to do the whole place & send out a 'designer' -it's a scam.
The plumber came & basically our system isn't fit for purpose & we could buy a new boiler & it will cost about £3,500. He will look at other options, but it's all a bit - 'we need to sit down & take it all in!'
He did say we could buy an electric heater thing for the bedroom that will cost about £400 to buy & fit & would be a temp until we can sort out the heating. That's a silly waste but if the weather comes bad we'll just have to manage with a halogen. The joiner has not finished, so we hae loads of unjfitted doors & drafts, so I will hae to get some curtains nailed up in the doorways.
Weirdly mild again, but a bad forecast again.
CTC - you can put seeds down in January. You can do it on a windowcill in the house for the heat. I used to but won't this year.0 -
Hi Pollyanna
Your kitchens look/sound lovely. Being in rented I can't choose but we have moved into a nice kitchen this time. It just needs a lick of paint as lime green isn't my thing!
The last kitchen was original to the house - 1980's and was just awful. The LL gave us permission to repaint - cue French blue colours everywhere. I got it looking nice in the end... then moved :rotfl:0 -

I noticed Fuds on here and popped in .I would like to thank Fay for the kitchen link I popped over and it's the sort of kitchen I was imagining in my head . Much bigger than mine and out of budget but I'll do os ! Thanks Fay
Welcome to the group Pollyanna, that kitchen is rather lovely isn't it? The whole blood is quite delicious really. But one of those always chipper and life seems to be lived through a lense type blogs. I know it's not as she does sometimes post some reality checks. But I sometimes read it and feel flat after lol but her kitchen is lovely. I have blind envy for sure.0 -

Been in there much of the morning, catching-up. Things like sorting out plants prone to vine weevil should have been done in autumn.:o Leave it much longer and species like primula, geraniums and geums will have no roots and fall out of the pots.:(
Of course, in a normal winter I'd be leaving stuff alone at this time, but I'm taking a gamble and also propagating tough plants by division. It may work. For example, astrantias will divide now, no problem. Other more tricky plants will be better left until March. It's all based on experience.;) If they die, I don't do it again! :rotfl:
I don't propagate more than about 20% of our plants by seed, and my seeds went in during late summer/autumn. Those would be plants like sweet william and cupids' dart. Those are tough enough to overwinter outdoors.
Then there are the seeds that need frosting, which are also outdoors, under a sheet of glass to keep the worst of the rain off. Those won't germinate till February/March/April time.
Finally, there are plants from cuttings. Some of those are in a dedicated bed in the polytunnel, but the rest are outside. I just put down some strips of ground cover, leaving a small gap between the pieces. The soil there is good, so all I do is cut pieces of shrubs etc and stuff them into the gap in a long line. Maybe half of them die, but most of the rest will root by early summer. The ground cover saves weeding.
EDIT: I might sow some chilli or sweet peppers next month, but I'm not a big fan of windowsill growing, so I keep that sort of heated propagator stuff to a minimum.0 -
