Dave I like your kitchen but then it's very similar to mine lol. One of the nicest I've seen is off the blog sew sweet violet. She had her kitchen done and she paid a lot for it as I think it's hand made oak, but you could get the look much cheaper. Small kitchen but done lovely with a. Gorgeous blind she made herself. Ahhhhh.
Had a quick look. She's got our floor too, but in a greyer tone. We are so pleased with it, we'll probably carry it into the living room.

Our doors are ash, not oak, but I can't see the point of the latter if painted.

Sorry to hear you have a bug. It's the sort of thing that comes out of hiding as soon as the holiday arrives. :(I used to get mine at half-term in February, and sometimes I still do.

Lovely kitchen Dave - bright & airy & loads of work space. I love the spots - we have them in the bathroom & hall landing & little loo.

I like the painted units & if you get tired of them you can repaint them a different colour.

The colour is timeless & will go with owt.
Looking at the news it does look a horrible time for many. We hae a lovely bright day with no rain - very odd as the wind has dropped. The night was really wild.
I think the neighbours have got another dog - the barking coming from there has gone on all morning.

Oh is feeling a bit better & the swelling on his leg & knee seems to have really gone down a lot.

hi all.......... hope you've all had a good xmas time.

take care mr choille and do as your told by mrs choille....;)

and I hope your dad is ok IHS..

well I had a quiet xmas which suited me.. mum came over xmas eve and went off to her brothers for boxing day lunch.
today so far ive done nothing bar trudge out in my dressing gown to fill the bird feed station. I get so much enjoyment seeing them all .

it was relatively dry here for last few days just showers and the odd strong wind [and no its not the Brussels !:o ]

for anyone with livestock the wetness in the ground is horrendous, it just seems to "sit" there ? the 5 acre field the horses have been in is so deceptive.. looks fine till you walk in it and its like a comedy as the wellies get sucked in ...:D so I opened up the other field for them, they galloped into there.... needless to say I was in the firing lane and resembled a pebble dashed wall as they passed ! I was splattered from flying mud via hooves..:rotfl:

I know CTC has had to delegate her land amongst her piggies, but ive seen their cosy houses so bet they are tucked up snug..

haven't heard from FK this xmas ? hope her animogs are safe and well.

son has just headed off to heathrow to pick up his girlfriend from Canada. she has 2 weeks here
oops just had txt saying motorway at a stand still :(

well me finks I need to not be slobbing in my p'jams for much longer :D

wishing you all a relaxing time.....if poss xxxx
  • Afternoon all,

We have 3 large runs ..the boar is in one, a sow is in another, been meaning to put her back to the boar, as she has been on her own a while now since her litter was weaned away from her ages ago.. She is in super condition... Hopefully will get round to that sometime this week

Our other sow is indoors with her litter that was borned on Friday November 13th,
And we have an empty run, resting , but with all this rain its just patches of mud.. So I am hoping that we have a dry spring to dry it up, and I can throw a LOAD of seed on there to start growing alongside the weeds etc..

Friends of ours used to have pigs, and they got caught up n the foot and mouth, and could not move any of their pigs, it nearly bankrupt them.. As they were running the Max of pigs on their land anyway, plus they had litters due... And they have brainwashed us into only having the amount of animals we can afford to feed, and have the amount of land for them if SHTF...

I am sooooooo itching to start in the garden, wish this rain would stop,

Checked out the garden and found a canna I'd forgotten to lift. Looks OK though after I dug it out, wet ground is like a pudding of course. Washed rhizome down and will dust with sulphur tomorrow for storage.

A box ball looks like it has a fungus, so sprayed that - not surprising given the rain. 20% of the leaves are black.

Found some daffs in bud, the small multi-head type? Never seen them so early!

Discovered that the bell-box on the alarm isn't working, wondering if it's been so dull the solar panel can't recharge the battery? Will need to shin up ladder if it's not too windy tomorrow.

Hope that the mud dries up soon.

Alfie sounds like you have had a bit of a break. I too love watching the birds & feeding them is a great way to observe them close up. We mysteriously have back the long tailed tits. They come in a little before dark to feed, but they've been somewhere else for a couple of months - they seem to pass through here regularly. They are so cute & hang out with the blue tits & great tits. It's funny to watch them.

Plumbers coming in the morning to look at the heating. We are fearful it was a bodge up by last plumber (pretend plumber) and we'll be hoiking the floors up.

Had some home made hamburgers for supper & they were so tasty. Lovely. Had a bit of a walk down the croft & found a few branches down - quite rotten they are, so I brought them up & snapped them up & they ae drying in the house beside the rayburn. We seem to be burning a bag of coal a day which is a bit greedy - after years of not buying fuel it hurts & we will run out in just over a week's time.
  • Hello all . After lurking on os and a few others ( complete technophobe ! ) I bit the bullet today and started posting . I noticed Fuds on here and popped in .I would like to thank Fay for the kitchen link I popped over and it's the sort of kitchen I was imagining in my head . Welcome Polyanna - I got a kitchen on Gumtree - new, but cheap - £100.
I've painted it & did get some new woktops & different handles. Kitchens are doable on the cheap.

I did buy some new cabinets that matched & other bits & bobs but saved a lot of money.

It's cold tonight - really mixed weather.
Thinking of all those poor souls flooded. It must be so depressing at any time of year, but not good at all at the moment.
  • Thank you Choille thats the type of thing I was thinking . There's always a way ! I hope you are ok in the highlands ( my favourite place on earth ) I fell in love with the area about 15 years ago when my eldest daughter lived there for a few years . I left my heart there and it's no 1 on the if I win the lottery list . Stay safe and it's daylight gaze at those big skies for me please . P x
