Got are far as I can with the bulbs. Have a) run out of compost and b) will let the dahlias/cannas/lily in pots go for a few weeks yet before shaking them out and replacing with bulbs.
With my garden being so small, there's a limit to how many daffs I can plant along the fences. Can't be doing with them in the borders, then having to look at 'going over' leafs for weeks, so prefer pots.
One of my 'rescue' orchids is flowering, will post a pic when more of the flowers are open. No doubt that the west-facing window at the top of the landing is the ideal spot in my house for orchids and bromeliads.
Neighbours across the way from me at the back created a racket yesterday knocking through their house wall to install patio doors. Not sure why, they face NE which isn't known for the sun in Scotland0 -
Britain facing worst storms in 30 YEARS as Hurricane Joaquin RAGES across Atlantic
It's the Express, so may be a bit blustery.0 -

They seem to have covered all eventualities, so they'll not be wrong whatever happens. No mention of Diana or rising/falling house prices, though, so a bit of a let down for regular readers.
It's certainly been dank and blustery at times here today, but no rain before nightfall, so I did some last minute mowing while DW began tidying the beech hedge twixt us and next door.:D
Absolutely no news on the refurb front. Mr Rod isn't responding to telephone messages, nor is the electrician. I don't want to see the plumbers until I'm ready for the oil tank to be connected...another week at least. I can wait for them: it's still a novelty, putting the immersion heater on for an hour or so and still having hot water 24hrs later. Can't get over it!:rotfl:
This afternoon, DW shouted, "Pete is coming down with a trailer of logs!" but he drove straight past and delivered them elsewhere....Oh well.0 -
Lovely here today but came very cold this evening & all stars are out & twinkling - could even be a frost overnight.
I had only one bid on an item then at the last minute someone bid on the same item - then wanted to cancel. I am gutted as the item had ended & I seem to have lost the sale. Just getting the tea out when I thought I'd check the sales. I didn't eat the last of the mussels............................so OH binged on them. I felt sick - it's been so dead so was quite glad I had a bid, but this person went & trashed it...................
Fed up with ebay as it's so dead & I do spend ages putting in so much effort.0 -
Oh Choille how frustrating. If we lived closer I would bring you oodles of cake and a listening ear. Things seem so tough for you and your OH at the moment and I know it is little comfort however you are in my thoughts.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Morning all,
Choille i' M with Runner, wished I lived closer and could help in some way..
I have a few things on with bids, but its nowhere near what it used to be, my friend also said its the quietest he has never known it on eBay..
EBay is more or less going to be out sole income, until we can get some of our ideas off the ground at the ranch, but then it will only be a very small income..I am worried with it being very slow on eBay, and with the changes with beoples benefits next April that there will be less and less people buying, and more and more things being listed .
Fingers crossed this is just the lull before the feel good factor of Christmas will get people buying again..
Window people supposed to be coming today to fit the final 4 windows....so at least all the windows will be done thenWork to live= not live to work0 -
hi all......
oh what a bummmmer for you both [choille & ctc]......
I think the fact that it seems PPal are taking a commission to use them now ? or was that before. they are separate from the bay now aren't they ? so people selling have to up their prices to cover costs..
I have just sold the boat through gummytree after 3 days as opposed to nothing after 10 days on the bay.. no commission,no fees. just put an asking price.
weather here is pants today
yesterday [lovely day] my sister said "rain forecast for tomorrow" and I phoophoo'd it.....:o
mum is coming over here this afternoon for a day or two. I think she is feeling a bit useless and a tad lonely. she likes the flat but I think she feels a bit cut off. I suggested she comes over each week .

I bet some of you thought I was making it up when I went on and on about Openreach, 3 years ago! :rotfl:
Pete needs a sat nav for this area like Red Rum needed a map of Aintree!0 -
Dull and drizzly today
I had grand plans for airing all the scarfs and woollens for the winter however I guess the weather beat me :rotfl:
There is loads that we are hoping to do over the next few weeks in the garden if we can although the weather forecast is making that seem doubtful.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Dull and drizzly today
.
Took the van to the garage this morning because of the expensive-sounding engine squeak, but when I got there, it wouldn't do it.:(:(
Soooo, off for a long trundle around the local lanes until, eventually, "squeak, squeak!"
Back at the garage, they were still finding it hard to locate. This was partly due to the fact that it's the only garage I know with geese, which kept honking excitedly! :rotfl:
Anyway, it's going in on Thursday....:o0
