IHS... cripes !is it bulb time !!

Tulips are OK for a few weeks yet.

I'm planting mostly in pots, got a lot of those plastic pots from the supermarkets they use for flowers - 6 for 99p. They fit inside the big clay pots from Aldi, so will swap out the dahlias for bulb pots in due course. Far easier than planting and lifting.

Forecast to dip to 3°C with me tonight, so loads more plants will be coming under glass before Monty's on :)

Sounds like a wonderful holiday Alfie.

We need to wait to see the monitor results once OH stops wearing it on Monday & then it will take a few days to get the results of that.

Brought down an old cabinet I had in a shop in a previous life & treated it for woodworm that it had acquired whilst being stored at my late parent's house. I fancy it in the kitchen which is a mix of old & new.

Whilst up in the upstairs of the house it's become covered in Swallows' droppings - totally encrusted, All chipped off now. I rather fancy backing it with fancy paper from the V&A collection, but at £20 @roll I think I'll be off to snip off a large sample- a very large sample...........

Sorry to hear of the poor prices at auction CTC - It's terrible.

Choille So sorry to hear about your OH, I can't imagine how you must both be feeling.

CTC The ranch is looking amazing :D As for a money generator, do you have space for a wigwam/yurt/sleeping space? It could be a good way of generating income?

Dave Your grandson is so gorgeous! Good to get them into gardening when they are young ;)

Alfie That sounds like an amazing trip!

LIR Good to hear from you, I know you have been quietly recently, I hope you are ok.

IHS Looks as if you will be busy, where are the bulbs from?

Hello to everyone else :D Things here continue to be difficult so not much to report from here. The garden continues to bring me great joy and is looking great.

Super progress on the house, CTC! :j

Perhaps, if you have your piggles for a few more weeks prices may improve, though I've no idea why supply and demand vary so unpredictably. :(

Alfie, your holiday next year will take you to some pretty amazing places and, who knows, maybe somewhere out there in the Canadian forests, there's a little restaurant serving the best tripe & onions on the planet! :D

Swallow's droppings I know about. They are very light and seem to brush off quite easily, compared with other bird poo. Sadly, there are no swallows here now to make them, but I've noticed a change in the garden birds, as if the others have decided it's now their turn to take centre stage. :)

Did I say we now have sheep again? Pete slipped 48 of them in here while we were in Bristol. Apparently, this lot are in lamb, so either we learn to deliver the youngsters, or they go back to the home fields in the spring.

I'm not really ill, but someone has given me a sore throat lurgy thing, which is slowing me down. :(

Spent half the day at a soft play centre with Sam and his parents, who were en route back to the smoke. I wasn't really in the mood for crawling through labyrinths of plastic squashy stuff and wallowing in ball pools, but I must admit it was an impressive place, with at least 4 different levels. :)

I'm still trying to get my head around building jobs, but other things like repairs to fences, mowing and painting the barn doors have conspired to take me away from the renovations this week. I shall get undercoat onto those doors before the weather breaks anyway. Temperature down there in the late afternoon was over 20c again.

    Morning all,

It did take me aback, as our piglets are 12 weeks old, and very well grown on, depending on how you keep them , they would potentially be ready for Christmas, last month piglet prices were through the roof , people buying them to grow on for Christmas.if you were prepared to sell them for peanuts then they were selling, I had a £30 reserve on them, which tbh is still a very good price for the size of them. So they are back home. For at least another 21 days now, as nothing can be moved off our land. A bit miffed in one way, as now is when the food bill starts going through the roof lol.
On the way home from the auction, it did make us think/ talk about old ideas we were thinking of in the passed.

Now thst hubby isn't working he is starting on the very long list if jobs that we have been wanting to do since we bought the ranch. At the moment is more cost effective for him to be off work, and doing these jobs, than him working and then paying someone else to do them.

Choille, hope hubby is OK, and you too, hope you managed to go and collect some mussels. That sounds like a lovely peaceful place
