where is everyone ? is it the weather that has driven peeps to hibernate....:o
My light was on, but there was no one home.......:o
I was eating dinner and talking to the plumber.(Not at the same time. We're not on dinner party terms! :rotfl:)
It was bad news.:( I've been building a platform for our new oil tank, secure in the knowledge that I only have to position it 300mm above floor level, but now I hear it's actually 450mm and that the other figure is the height of the burner.
How silly of me not to realise......
So, more bricklaying, which isn't one of my better skills.
Hope lir and choille are OK.0 -
well I know LIR is ok-ish... she had a cold, then...another cold
as most know a cold for her is not like a cold for us...
hope choille and OH ok too0 -
I am here
quietly planning our hall decorating. Trying to decide on flooring which is no easy task and my head is spinning with all the different choices.
We had decided on a wall colour however OH has now been considering other options so everything is up in the air. One thing I have decided on is the style of doors, now I just have to find them at the best price.
It would be lovely to have someone just do it all for me :rotfl:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
What a cutey Lola is CTC- cross btw Pug & Jack Russell - a Jug? Sorry, think I've done that one before.
You'll have to get her a Leather - or at the least some goggles.
We had to go up North - just about fell off the end, to see a Physio for OH.
His neck & spine are so bad now - due to how he has to walk, which is more of a shuffle really. Physio had a copy of OH's xrays & couldn't believe how bad he is & still just managing to get about let alone drive.
He gave him some chiropractice stuff & exercises to do also on how to exercise to prepare for operation - which no one else mentioned. He even lent him a book on how to stage exercises before & after op.
I'd been at this guy when I fell a couple of years ago & actually got whip lash ( I never would have thought it possible to get whip lash from sliding & landing on my head!)- this guy sorted it out. A long trek but OH felt the benefit when he came out - so that was wonderful. He's going to see him in 6 weeks, but OH can phone him any time.
Alfie - The weather has been gorgeous here - not had chance to wear my latest big pressie that is great. And please let me do something for you you wicked lady.
You do look after your Mum which is lovely. BT are a complete pain in the !!! & donkey.
Coming back from Lochinver we saw very vivid Northern Lights - a really stunning show on Wednesday evening so that was a good omen - hopefully.
Got an opened roll of posh Dorma wallpaper for £1 - I asked if they would sell it to me as I only wanted to line a cabinet. I then got a gorgeous black & white tassel that will slip on the handle & some electric turquoise miny bobble fringing to edge the shelf - as the glass is a bit ruff ruff. Got the paper on the back & it looks uber posh - probably too posh for kitchen, but why not? Can't always show my trailer trash roots don't you know?
Come overall silver grey & moody looking - think it will chuck it down.
It's very mild.
My Orange- Sun Burst buddlieh [sp?] has only just flowered - how late a show is that - mind you late bees are grateful - I'm sure.
The swallows have flown. I do hope they make it being so very young & so very brave. I worry for them...........0 -
When is OHs op now Choille?
We're coming up to stay at Corriegour Lodge to deliver a tractor and have arranged a nights dinner B&B as part of the deal. Going to bob over to Skye but need to find a B&B for the Saturday night but leaving the trailer at Corriegour. The off to St Andrews to pick up a lawnmower. And breathe. That's next weekend sorted.
DS1 is going to Thailand for a month. DD1 popped up to get some soil samples from a friends farm and has also got an interview for a job near her uni so fingers crossed for that.
DS2 is home and in sixth form after eating a large portion of humble pie. It's been a long hard journey for him but hopefully getting settled.
DD2 has a dilemma as she's been offered 2 places to do her agricultural apprenticeship. She's going to one farm in half term to see how they both get on.
I am exceedingly busy at work and knackered. OH had a horrendous week and we both went for a night away, booked by him which was nice.

You and your family sound busy Lucielle!
Choille The kitchen decor sounds fabulous. So sorry to hear your OH is having such a difficult time.
I have questions
We would like real wood floors in the hall however people have said to us that the new laminates/engineered floors are less expensive yet look just as good so we are a bit stumped as to what to consider. Do any of you have experience of either? What we had considered was a polished concrete floor however the prices were . As we have messy children and lots of pets a carpet in the hall is no longer practical as the current one has been ruined.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Is it wrong to quietly want artificial grass in the front garden so I never have to cut it again?Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0
-
It would be lovely to have a perfect rectangle of fake grass in the front so that I never have to think about it again. I would imagine it would be a whole load of money though, so another one for the lottery pile :rotfl:Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

When you go 'Oop norf,' choille, it really is....! :rotfl:
Glad to hear DS2 is getting there, lucielle. :T
There's plenty later than your orange buddleia, choille. Our ironweed, for a start, and there's been no sign of a nerine flowering yet. What hasn't happened here this year is repeat flowering after cut-back, mainly because it was dry.... Oh, and the squash, which just didn't happen at all.
The Karndean laminate we have in the new kitchen is pretty good stuff, Rummer. We have it in limed oak, but there's many types and grades. It isn't over-shiny like many laminates, it's laid in strips and it has a grain to it. While I'd say that in looks it could be beaten by a real wood floor, the difference isn't so great I'd consider the latter in high traffic areas, where the easy care of Karndean really scores.
You were asking about doors too. We have these:

and

We're very pleased with them, although they have to be varnished, not Osmo oiled, which is easier. Our builder made us a front door to match, which I'll post a picture of soon.0
