CTC I hate to suggest it knowing the upset and problems it caused you, but what about the large supermarket opposite your house? Quite handy this time of year due to staff discount too??
We did talk about that, and I know hubby would do any job, but as he said, he couldn't do supermarket work...
One of his biker friends, works as a prop builder/ supplier and has a unit on the same complex as our new one, so when he comes back from abroad( currently on location filming) he is going to ask if he has any work, even if it is driving the props to their locations etc...
Come spring time, we can both start sowing/ growing stuff to sell, and get a little gate sales going.. But its something for the next few months...
I could send him down the docks, and get him to send g a handbag lol:rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -

Davesnave hope the sale goes OK today....as you know sometimes, its not about the amount of takings to take on the day, but is about building up a reputation, and a potential client base..
But it's all good local produce and it's good to see folk.
DD2 is here, filling the barn with her wordly goods, where they will stay till the end of the month, when it looks as if I'll be taking them to Bristol.:undecided Looking at the huge van they came in, that's two trips!
DD2 has another management job to go to in Bristol, which will be as modestly-paid as the one she has now. Being in retail is means there's a branch in every town, which is convenient at times like this, but not so great in the long term.
Swansea area's not the worst for employment, CTC, but it probably isn't buzzing like Exeter or Bristol. OTOH, rents in Bristol are
£850 a month for a crummy little new build near the M4!0 -
Back to rain with me; annoying as there is a bulb-fair at my local NT(S) garden, however I think it's on tomorrow too when the forecast is a bit better.
I see two of the colchicums I re-potted a few weeks back are now showing, they are under the rain-canopy to protect the flowers. Hopefully the rest will break through in the next weeks.
Having a bit of tidy-up, bought a proper 6' garment-rail after Argos-job collapsed with just a few shirts on it
Algae bloom in the aquarium, so have added some otocinclus catfish which nibble on algae all the time.0 -
hi all
been a good day here today.. sunny but with a nice breeze. there was a drizzle of rain early but I was in my bed so didn't see or hear it !:D
picked up iow sister, went to see dad then had lunch in a pub. took her back for ferry and am now sat with a cuppa and cake.... surrounded by dogs
I feel like im getting a cold ... BUT have had this off and on for last 2 weeks so am wondering if its an allergy ??? don't knoe don't care as long as it is NOT a cold...
we have lots of very young calves on the forest at the moment, and baby donkeys and STUPID drivers... they assume the young are as road savvy as the adults ? and swerve ,brake, honk horns etc at them ! I must admit my "road rage" kicks in and I sometimes let the said driver know this.
ive found that if they are embarrassed they learn...sometimes..
today I was stopped to allow some cattle to cross in front of me and sure enough an oncoming car tried to weave between them. he got stuck in the middle cos I wasn't gonna move. thing is if you let the cattle go on their way they actually form an orderly line down the side of the road ... split them up [especially mother and calf]and all hell breaks looseso of course they surrounded his car, mooing and poooing and slobbering on his shiny black car... what a shame :rotfl:

Thought we had an outbreak of oak processionary moth, but looking at the photos, the spread, and considering the time of year, it's not stacking-up as being those nasties.
Whatever they are, there's well over a hundred on a tiny Red oak, which is rapidly losing all its leaves.Tomorrow, they'll be relocated to a mature English oak.....:D
Meanwhile, I noticed 'something' was doing the same to the rhubarb. Rhubarb moth? Well, not quite, but it had to be large....and on the path nearby was an Elephant hawk moth caterpillar. Only circumstantial evidence, m'lud, but on the balance of probabilities.....;)
So, it's back on the rhubarb. Not enough Elephants of any description here.0 -

We have had caterpillars eating our rhubarb leaves too. I didn't think anything ate rhubarb leaves.... They are small green caterpillars. It doesn't seem to have done much harm to the rhubarb though, as we have had loads and the stems look like a forest again!0 -
LIR..... APPLES... do you want some? well quite a few !
I have big red eaters, big green cookers and some in between that im not sure what they are ! any good for cooking/eating/chutneying etc ?
Only just seen this! ( not logging on so much ATM)
Some red eaters would be lovely. I'm freezing our cookers right now and we don't have great eaters. But if its too late that's fine.
I'm just about to take a cake out of the oven ( just one today)0 -

Depending on how much you paid for it, etc, find some boating forums/ sales pages, and eack it on there, or wait until the spring and then sell
