:o I was aiming for encouraging :rotfl:Maybe not while in the midst of the renovations but afterwards you could always keep an eye out for something, if you are keen :D

I'm encouraged :), though I've just had one of those awful 'teacher dreams,' where I take them out on a trip and lose most of them! :rotfl:

Today, I have to take more time off from doing anything constructive house-wise to get plants ready for Saturday's Market. It will be a challenge, but I will rustle something up. Don't care if I sell any or not; it's the act of being there which is important. ;)

On Friday DD2 arrives with her partner and all their worldly goods, so I've somehow found a clear space in the barn for that. It's only a fortnight till it all moves out again and goes to Bristol, so not too bad. Soon, we're hoping to get our most delicate stuff out of there before any nasty weather hits.
  • Afternoon all,

Fay the garden looks really good.

Davesnave, I am sure you can russle up some plants for Saturday..is the event going to go right through the year? Or stop during the winter months ??

Well I survived the first week.... Went pretty quick today...

I know its only temp, and casual , but at least I now have a foot in the door, and a few regular pennies for n the purse good really as eBay is quiet, so after my blood test tomorrow, think I need to start listing things...

Right need to go and do a bit of shopping,

Hope everyone is OK, and catch you all laters

Thanks everyone. The plan is to under plant the trees and also add s couple of viburnum opulus (guelder rose) in and to ensure they are looked after and not left like all the others had been. I spent a couple of years renovating the old shrubs and they were healthy but I didn't like them lol. The bed extends right down to the left with a very dry bed at the end of it. So going to try and get some planting all the way along so it is more coherent. I will keep you updated.
I've had a horrific first week back at work. So busy and worked yesterday worked from 8am until 7pm, with an hour commute either end, but no extra pay for overtime...and it infuriates me when people say NHS workers have an easy life and don't work hard. I really do feel fatigued and have a super busy day tomorrow and Saturday, so not much gardening this weekend.

I personally think that the "workers" hold together the NHS.. those with a "conciencous" work ethic [im excluding half the bigwigs etc ] know more of what to do/whats needed than the excluded half.... ;)

You should have been a teacher. All those holidays!:rotfl:

That's what people always told me, but with prep and admin, I reckoned on a 55 hr/ week average, so the bonus weeks were earned, if a 42 hour week is about average.

They were also necessary to avoid burn-out, which is what people presumably want their doctors, nurses, teachers and other 'carers' to avoid. They want lively, motivated staff, not folk just going through the motions.

Dave, would you consider tutoring or would you rather be doing something else?

Completely agree Dave re: burnout, it's s big risk in mental health but most people seem to think us psychologists are immune. But I've felt close to it at times. Sadly the management don't understand what we do and therefore the need for breaks and holidays etc. working over is expected although they will never say this, but the job is not manageable without it.
