Have just finished mowing and am now officially cream-crackered
Very true about animals knowing when they've had enough Dave - years ago we had a cat that just went away to die (sounds like a good idea, think I'll adopt that one), but with Archie I think it's more a case of preferring to stay snuggled up indoors (usually in a room furthest away from the dogs, lol!) rather than risk being chased around by them all day.....
Our other news is that whilst we don't yet have chickens, we do have a new feathered addition to the family - a baby blue tit that appears to have attempted to fly the nest too soon. DH has gone all maternal and is feeding it tiny bits of earthworm with a pair of my tweezersMortgage-free for fourteen years!
Over £40,000 mis-sold PPI reclaimed0 -
Sorry to hear the news Davesnave...there is only so much you can do, and you got to be realistic, and not let your heart rule your head...
We had to have 2 piglets put down by the hunt.. We had the vet up, and had 3 lots of anti b' s but the infamation just kept on coming back...
As horrible as it was to make that decision I know it was the best one..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Hugs Davesnave and Mrs Davesnave. Always sad to lose a loved animal, and I definitely get the impression you both loved dear Tinky Winky. You really did the best you could to help her, you and your DW are great people. More hugs from Liverpool.0

Sad news Dave but you've done right by her, but still very sad for you.0

Have been MIA for weeks now so don't really know what has been going on. Just read back a few posts - so sorry to read your news Dave.
The last few weeks have been a roller coaster with family downs (but thankfully a few ups), a holiday and various other things that keep needing immediate attention.
My garden has been quite ignored but over the last few days I have worked hard on the front garden and it is just about ready to plant up with summer bedding. The back garden kind of looks after itself but some things need to be tied in and a bit of general weeding needs done.
Weather isn't too bad here at the moment, not too cold but quite windy.
Hope you are all well and hopefully I will be able to find time to see what you are all up to.0 -
Sorry Dave about Tinky Winky, but you have really looked after her & she's had a good life with you.
I would love a Wisteria but I think it would die.
Really cold again & quite wet. Down in the woods last night & got bitten with midges - they are late arriving this year. All lambs are springing about like.......Spring lambs.
Mad Cat is tired today - thank the Lord.
Plumber arrived today....hurray. Sink & Toilet plumbed in in downstairs cloaks & flooring down. It's looking remarkably posh. Still to fit heated towel rail & lights & fan & skirting & door.....It'll need a door!
Laid out the bathroom fittings & decided to raise the bath so we can take advantage of the wrap around windows. Gosh, it's a big bath - I'd best learn how to swim. The plasterer had put up a wobbly few sheets & these will have to be redone. Feel incredibly bushed & till got the dizzy thing going on, so will see the Doc on Fri.
I love agarves & I killed all of mine, some of which were incredibly old & huge - 30+ years. They died in the shed the other Winter which killed most things.0 -
Wonder what time Alfie's flight is?? Hope she has a fab time....Work to live= not live to work0

Yes, she really does deserve this holiday.:A Let's hope it's a good 'un.
Thanks folks for all your kind words. I wouldn't normally be so soppy over a hen, but observing TW over the years often caused me to reflect on behaviour in the face of adversity. It comes to something when a hen is teaching you stuff....probably that I should get out more! :rotfl:
Took a great leap of faith today and ordered all the plastering materials we need for the next phase and asked the plumber back to disconnect the wooburning stove. We're really burning bridges now, as there will be no heating until we fit new stuff. :eek:0 -

Isn't that ramsons? Very popular in Caribbean cooking, but I'm told they don't necessarily improve one's personal odour.
They are very easy to introduce, if the ones I moved here are anything to go by.lostinrates wrote: »Fave snave,* if you have time to revisit old chums...pastures has been gifted a plant, I have no idea what to recommend she does with it....I recommended a thread down here, but...she might appreciate advice up there....
Edit * this was autocorrect. Fave snave for davesnave indeed. As if it thought I should be wheedling up.
Ha, I had a look, and although I think I can ID it, I wouldn't have the first idea what to do with it.Bit exotic for us here, where figs and eucalyptus are about as 'exotic' as it gets. :rotfl:

Dave our departed Mrs Hopperty has/had the same effect on us. She' been run over & had given over laying according to her previous owner. She lived for a further 10 years & hatched quite a few broods & laid & laid & laid, but did have arthritis in her leg - hence the name we gave her. She was amazing, but sadly she got too lame & it was decided to dispatch her when it was obviously becoming painful to get around for her. She was Queen hen & always will be - to me.0
