    happy banksie :D

well choille, I can compete for the bank holiday madness here !

1]... im 2nd in line slowing down on forest road as a herd of deer spotted approaching to cross road. behind me 2 "boy racers" decided to overtake us.. 1st BR slams on brakes when a herd of deer cross in front of him [durrrr].... 2nd BR slams into the back of him [double durrrr].... me and first car drive on when deer have gone, toot, smile, wave ;)

2]... dropped stuff at tip, lady pulls in and "tries" to reverse into space.. partner is shouting instructions from the rear outside.. left a bit , right a bit etc. after numerous attempts [it was car/trailer] man gets into car and starts to reverse... FAST.. he jacks the trailer and slammed into the railings breaking his bumper trim and rear light... now im not saying the woman looked smug..:p

3]... was watching a display of BIG world war 2 model airoplanes out on the forest on the old airfield. lots of people were stopped by the side of the road so traffic was slow. one chap was so intent on watching the air display as he drove along he just slowly went off road and drove without realising across forest land ! until he was stopped by a gorse bush...:rotfl: everyone cheered and poor chap looked somewhat embarrassed .....

so that's a hat trick today that has kept me giggling...
    better than the telly....

apart from that I took mum to see dad, he was fine.
ive sort of packed for holiday :o

Cool with me, but still dry...

Potting on the agave this afternoon using a clay pot I picked up from Morrisons and will plant a Jasminum nudiflorum on the trellis where a clematis expired during the winter.

Edit - and done! The smallest is a 'pup' of the largest.

    Note excessive chives...;)

NB I had a heck of time getting the slate coping attached to the brick wall. After cementing last year, they all came detached over the winter I guess due to differential expansion. Have now attached them with construction adhesive.

Excessive? Just a mere clump. You need more. :D

I will go crazy soon if the last things to go out aren't ready to go out.

I think the chickens got on the garden and ate the melons today though.

No, they didn't eat the pumpkin seedlings though, Melons are tastier. Interesting. And we certainly put the sweet corn out too early. That's a fail. :( we have pop corn to go out. We are running out of room fast.

Sufficient tidying done to warrant a pic. out my study window. The sail awning is new for this year, also keeps the Glasgow rain off...

Bit of a 'May gap' with flowers as I've said before, esp. as all the 'over' spring bulbs have been taken out apart from tulip 'Queen of the night'

Pots on right side of lawn are cannas, that's where the rain pools until it drains into the drywell so they should get watered. Pots at extreme bottom right are dahlias, just potted them up today. The cane tripod with clay 'hat' is for the passion flower.

Am hoping pergola will be fully covered with rose/honeysuckle/perpetual sweet pea this summer.

May has been full of wall flowers here. ( I know, still!) and the gardenias finally deigned to flower a little. The marigolds, violas, ( and violas and violas and violas..they are delightfully growing in gaps in concrete like weeds!) and violets, and blossom, the forest pansy, the lilacs,....rosemary, the hawthorns. Its been a floriferous may. Even some lavenders......and chives. ;) We have verbascums, ( just a few) Lupins, and some early poppies, and Californian poppies. A few iris. Delphiniums tried over the last week. Mexican orange blossom. ( however its spelt) Its not been that quiet at all here :) salvia hot lips opened over a week ago.

As we reach this end of may it seems this is when I would normally expect, and am about to get, the rose flush. Its been all over the place ( roses) up until now, but now it looks like we are going to get it properly.

The once flowerer a are sending early openers this weekend, a bloom or two of gypsy boy etc. and they are all covered in bud, many have one or two open. I think it might look really something in not that long. :) just for a couple of short weeks of course.......but......wow.

    Its later summer I struggle.

Fave snave,* if you have time to revisit old chums...pastures has been gifted a plant, I have no idea what to recommend she does with it....I recommended a thread down here, but...she might appreciate advice up there....

Edit * this was autocorrect. Fave snave for davesnave indeed. As if it thought I should be wheedling up.

We have lots of Spring colour here too, even though I was expecting things in the West Midlands to be delayed somewhat......

Obviously we have the mahoosive Wisteria (see previous photobucket link for updated pics, although I really must embed some individual pics too), but that is starting to drop now, bluebells, we have lupins just starting, as well as all the other cottage garden stuff we've added.

Then there are the rhodies, peonies (loads!), laburnum, clematis (Montana Rubens & Josephine), Weigela Pink Poppet (huge mass of pink blossom), enormous Fucshia Magellanica, Honeysuckles (various colours), yellow poppies and red ones with huge buds as well as several roses either in full bloom or very close. As well as our potted Rambling Rector, we have inherited a mature specimen here and both have tons of buds.

The everlasting Sweetpeas planted by the verandah by the PO seem to double in size overnight - no buds yet though - and are doing much better than my bog standard ones.

We still have a few unidentified items - need to get my shrub reference books out - altogether though this garden has not disappointed and it feels like Sleeping Beauty awakening from a magical sleep :D

Oh yes the laburnum. ( I'm ready for that to go now..feeling chain saw happy, but fir is not on side.), the wisteria. Our peonies aren't out yet though. Fat buds but no flowers.

The wisteria is such a worry, I just don't know what to do about it. Its planted where the extension will be. It will be lost. Despite no pruning it puts on a show, so its a tough bxgger. With pruning it might be astounding.

I feel like I want to try and move it but,......will it be an inevitable death? Its a Chinese and I prefer the japenese. Plus, if I buy new I have to chose between white and that hi colour that looks kind of grey, where as this one is just white, so decision is made. I would be open to two of course, but not two different colours on the house. Growing it as a tree? Can you do that with the Chinese?

If we did move it everything I have seen says cut back to about three feet. Seems a bit much.....bearing in mind the height of it ( not girthy, just tall) and where first leaves are.....but is that cowardly......I feel tempted to try and leave about ten / twelve feet on it if we try.....that would leave a couple of leaves on it. But few. Eight might see none.
