we set up various arrows around the grounds [huge azalea/rhodies paths etc. ] for a quiz.. I looked but failed dismally at getting right answers
ive just planted up some more baskets and pots and cleared around my front porch ... im on a roll...:rotfl:
about to mow 2 lawns and that's it for me today....
gorgeous day by the way0 -
is anybody else "precious" over their mower / lawns ??
son lent out of window and said HE'D mow in the week...

Lidl has an offer on 3 plants for £5 or £1.99 each.
Picked up a passion flower from my Lidl, I though the others like the datura looked a bit ropey; maybe just my shop of course.
Dropped into my nearest NT garden and was quite pleased they also have a 'May gap'That said, they had Camassia leichtlinii which I'll certainly try next year to follow on from the tulips.

CTC if you're thinking of plants to sell at the farm auction etc I think pinks are a good bet as they make easy cuttings, but also consider the perennial wallflower. Mine was bought off the clearance table at a garden centre looking a bit sorry for itself, but it's now huge and I've had it about 3 years, . I take constant cuttings from it by just pulling the side shoots off and shoving into a pot of compost. I usually have 90% success and I am useless with cuttings-I can't get dogwood to take and apparently that's really really easy. So I would say the wallflower is worth looking out for.
Had a lovely day out today although a lot of driving. We went to chirk castle and Errdig, both in Wrexham. I preferred Errdig but we had a lovely lunch at chirk and that was a lovely place too. But 2.5 hours each way, worth it though. But the rest of the bank holiday weekend and Tuesday which I've booked off, will be spent at home and in the garden when weather permits.0 -
Haven't long come in from the ranch, I was like a walking lawn lol, as I had been strumming remember that £30 greenhouse we bought? Well we have added it to the other one, as they were both 10 ft wide, so now we have a. 10x 22ft greenhouse lol... We decided not to go for the polytunnel frame.. In reality even though it was a bargain price... It would have been a long while before I would have the time to work the greenhouse and the polytunnel properly...
Right hubby just walked in, so catch you all laterWork to live= not live to work0 -
Rain started again
Anyhow, had a look around the garden centres and picked up an astrantia, plus nicotiana, pansies and some cineraria to fill-up some gaps once the 'over' tulips are taken out. Next year I'll only plant tulips in pots.
About 15 alliums are in bud showing above the other plants. You can't have too many
Also re-potted an aloe which had been in a small clay pot for years and years, it was a solid block of roots! Teased out what I could and put into a deeper pot so hopefully it will start growing again.
I have a large agave americana that needs repotting too, am now hunting for a large enough pot. I have one which just has house leeks, I reckon that's a bit of waste and they can be found other homes.0 -
FK- I don't know how you manage to fit in all the stuff you do on your own.
I agree with what you say about getting a pro in if it's a good one. We are doing the cheap Gumtree new Wicks one our selves, but the work top will be done by a pro as it was - for us - quite a dear one.
Managed to go off looking around shops at nicely coloured things - drawn like a Jackdaw to shiny baubles, I bought some bright towels & some nifty enamel carry boxes that should help organise cleaning stuff.
Also & a massive also, saw & fell in love with a beautiful long haired cat that needs a home. He's beautiful, a little damaged & has a gut problem - like myself without the beautiful bit! We pick him up on Wednesday. I do hope he takes well to living with us in a caravan.
Poured down all day & looks crap for tomorrow too. Rain, rain, rain - horrid. Must get the place tidied up or the cat will disappear in the midden of mess. Must also clean it - the van is filthy & depressing with the window still boarded up. Looks like a right mess............0 -

With regard to FK's workload, I strimmed about 1/2 an acre yesterday and I'm puggled before I start today!
We've cancelled appearing in the other market we were invited to join until next year. There's only so much anyone can do.
I will try to post a piccy of our living room or kitchen soon, so you can see you're not alone, choille. We are living in a tip, but we're used to it now, and at least it's not a cold tip, like it was a few months ago.
Been eating the first of our mangy toos, and courgettes are just a day or two away. Way behind with other stuff though.0 -
Full day in the garden equals sunburn.0
