FK.. if all your sockets are I presume under the wall units , not IN them it would be difficult to fit/wire them until units re up ? and that means chasing in the wiring difficult. they cant come down the wall [wiring] if they don't know how far. cooker switch's [im pretty sure] have to be at a certain level for H&S. also it would mean things like kettle wires etc dangling DOWN if switches up high. what about washing machine, dishwasher, fridge etc ? presumably they would be in cupboards so unless you measure and mark on the walls exactly where the units are going to be it would be difficult for any electrician to place them correctly.
often when boxing in pipes in cupboards, they allow a clearance to be able to "get to them" for any remedial future work. [or they are un boxed in the cupboard] it all boils down to access and you may wish you had that clearance if something goes wrong !0 -
Choille, it must be awful to be soooo close yet feeling so far...
Go out and have a blowout, nice meal, or just mooch around shops etc...step away from the place for a few hours is a good move...Work to live= not live to work0 -

Yes., but they didn't like my soil at the old place. Also, I had a rival, who did them better than me, so I let him get on with it.
I noticed Morrisons were selling them on offer yesterday.0 -

He won't care. It's going into an old house he's about to sell, replacing something totally FUBAR. As one of the guys explained: "We need something old, so it looks like it's been there ages, then no one will expect the installation to be signed-off!" :eek:0 -
Flipping heck...wouldn't want to buy a house off them lolWork to live= not live to work0

It's in an even wilder bit of Devon than this bit....quite a lot wilder, in fact.
We are almost civilised here. :A
The guys who removed it were really nice chaps and did no damage whatever to our floors or woodwork. They were all built like brick ****houses, though, which helped! :rotfl:0 -
Another nice day here weather-wise, although not the glorious sunshine we had yesterday......then about an hour ago the heavens opened and I got drenched whilst pruning back a monstrous kerria planted by a PO
Sun has come out now, but having spent all day planting and assisting DH - who has been making me some giant wooden obelisks for my Campsis and Rambling Rector - I'm pooped, so intend to flop down on the sofa for a bit with a glass of something refreshing.....and preferably alcoholic
Blooming builders are a pita - part of the reason why we do most building work on our restoration projects ourselves - we've had our fair share of cowboys and the unreliable sort in the past and you know what they say, 'If you want something done properly, do it yourself'
Since DH gave up his design job and became self-employed it's been far easier for him to take the reins of a project and as I'm home too my occasional labouring for him has become a full-time job, lol......can't imagine many of my friends dressed like a filthy tramp, wielding a sledgehammer to knock walls down and shovelling the accumulated debris into umpteen skips! However, it is rewarding, even if I do feel (at least) ten years older than I am
Off to pour that well-earned glass of vino.......Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

Oh dear, builders, electricians, plumbers, plasterers, bah humbug
:(:(
Been a nice day here - mostly sunny and warm. Clouded over now.
Cat lady down the road has a pond and kindly gave us some marsh marigolds, two sorts of water lily (one has reddish tinged leaves), a yellow iris, and something else - can't remember what. Her husband got them out for me and had water pouring in over the top of his wellies for his trouble. And I've ordered a few marginals and water plants from ebay. It's only a small pond but it's coming on nicely. It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.
