I liked Chelsea, I took myself back to London for my 21st birthday, met my uncle who loved gardening and we went round together. I stayed overnight with my aunt and went back for a second day, like all the really big shows you can't see it all in one day. Cant remember what it cost then, 15 years ago, but I think I was a member. I'll stick to tv coverage for now!

Absolutely knackered after the show, didn't make any profit as I had a bit of a shopping spree and got some lovely duck eggs to hatch :D But it was never going to make me a fortune. I did meet some lovely new people and it was good to see people from last year too, and it's helped me decide what direction to go in with crafty things. However it wasn't just me, the general feeling among a lot of traders that I spoke to and overheard was that it was a very poor year for sales, for just about any tye of product :(

I don't think I'll be going again, not least because I had a major run in with a security manager at the end of the show and ended up reporting him to the event organisers  I'd need a restraining order on him to go back, if he gets to keep his job ;)

Plus it's not good being out of the loop at home for best part of a week, esp with so much going on. Mr FK had to go to London yesterday for a course he's on this week so he left at 5, I didn't get back til nearly 8 and had all the animals to see to, poor piggies had a very late supper :(

Oh, and a goat decided to give birth while I was feeding the pigs :T the kid is doing fine, she's gorgeous too, but it's mum's first time and she isn't bonding with her. I have to hold her still so the kid can feed, I was out at 11 last night and back again at 5.30 this morning to make sure the kid isn't going hungry. I'm just glad it was a mild night!

Well electrician did what he needed to yesterday so the builders are boarding out the kitchen today. However the door fitter didn't bother turning up Friday or Saturday so the builders can't plaster round the reveals, it's piddling down here and a board nailed over the hole isn't totally water tight!

I'm thinking of taking it easy today, well I have done so far, got the van to unload if it ever stops raining, but I need some animal supplies today and Mr FK has taken the pick up so I might have to get wet. At least I'm feeling better than I did 5 hours ago, thanks to several cups of tea, :coffee:

 I am still here just not had much time to post.

Things have been busy and will continue to be for the next two weeks and then my life should start to slow down a bit. Nothing has been done in the garden due to the never ending rain, however it at least looks lush ;)

Things are still thriving in the greenhouse and I am waiting for a dry day to get the beds turned over and the plants out into the garden. I need to get another round of things started soon too, but time just seems to vanish :o

I am trying to get myself organised to clear things out and to make a bit of extra cash. A few things have been listed locally but if they do not sell then I am going to have to face ebay. We need the space and the money.

Hope you are all well :D

CTC, we went to Chelsea in 2012. RHS had a special deal on membership, so I joined. Then thought "Why not?" when the Chelsea stuff started coming out. We stayed at DD1's place (this was before she had GS3) so accommodation free! :j

It was an incredibly hot day, and it was incredibly crowded. But we did have fun, and we have a souvenir spider sculpture made of recycled metal in our porch here, and I bought lily bulbs from the Harts Nursery display in the Pavilion, that we have in pot by front door and they have been fab every year since. Plus bought the giantest purple straw hat you could imagine that is great for hot still days in garden/lottie.

I'm thinking we might go again next year or year after, but will try and get tickets for Members Day I think. Prob will have to do B&B or hotel next time though. It was supposed to be a Once In a Lifetime visit, but it really was fun... Not sure how much fun it would be if it was p*ssing down and blowing a hooley of course! :rotfl: Though suspect OH would find that even more fun, plus it would keep the outside crowds down! ;) Pavilion might well be impossible to get into though.

Oh, if you're interested photos here.

But here we are on our way home, taken by a kind passer-by. I think we both look like we had a nice time!

As the Scottish summer only lasts for a week in June...

Went for lecky over gas as I had an outside socket already, plus it's handy in the conservatory without asphyxiating myself.

Maggie sounded like you really had a fab time..

Watching Chelsea now on BBC 2..

Went to buyology after work, as I needed to buy things for work to tide us over until our big delivery comes on Thursday, so eldest suggested I tried that shop, flipping heck what a shop.. They got flower seeds 5 packs for £1 and some of them are Sutton's etc. OK they are sow by 2015, but well worth it.. Also their water butts I thought were cheap, they had a few sizes..

Going to go back when I got more time to look properly..

Hi Rummer  Lovely to *see* you here! Sounds as though you're v.busy.....know what you mean about the rain making everything look lush - hoping it stops soon though so we can enjoy our (blooming expensive :o) garden furniture, as well as giving the rather sparse lawn another mow.....

Lovely pics Maggie - you both definitely look as though you thoroughly enjoyed your day :D We're going to try to visit Chelsea next year - will have to find somewhere nice to stay now that DS has sold the London flat - but this year I think we'll do Hampton Court. It's DH's b/day that week and we have friends nearby we've not seen for ages so may be able to kill two birds with one stone ;)

CTC, sounds as though you guys had a well-earned day off and hopefully got some good ideas together for the ranch :)

    FK, gosh, you've been busy....phew :T

Weather was pants here most of the day, after a much more pleasant one yesterday - although as we're doing a big push ahead of DS & GF visiting at the end of the month, DH has handed over the gardening reins to me so he can concentrate on getting a room or two finished ;)

That meant that yesterday I was on pond-clearing duty.....yuck - loads of manky weeds to clear out (and accompanying silt :p) - so we can plant some attractive waterlilies. I was [STRIKE]ably assisted[/STRIKE] hindered by my two four-legged co-workers, who delighted in retrieving horrid, smelly roots from the water's edge, then taking them into the kitchen to dissect on the sofa

Today DH has been painstakingly plastering between ceiling beams whilst I stripped a disgusting carpet from around a loo and made good the floor in preparation for some karndean :o

More rain forecast for tomorrow so more of the same I guess......

Hope BD and Dave are ok x

Morning all, my legs are still aching from all the walking on Sunday lol.

Weather is still pants here, and when I was out and about yesterday there was a mini tornado where I was, ( didn't touch the ground though) flipping heck the force behind it was unreal, and this was just a tiddler a lot of the signs on the enterprise zone were blown flat.. Really spooky..

Right off to work early this morning...

Dave is OK, thanks, but went to bed very early yesterday, due to feeling that a sore throat etc was coming on. A proper 9 hour sleep seems to have worked.....:)

A bit rattled at present, as our builder's mind seems to be elsewhere. Yesterday, I found myself telling him how to do something, which was really a first-principles thing and not complex.:( Trouble is, he can't alter some of what he's done, so we will cover it up and press-on because the BCO is coming tomorrow. It won't cause any real-world problem...hopefully.

I can't get to Mr Rod at all, as his wife takes calls, or there's an answerphone, but neither results in an answer!:( One of his chums responded yesterday, but he wouldn't commit to any work without Mr Rod's approval, so that didn't lead anywhere. Nor did contacting the other plasterers we knew of, as they've now secured a 6 week contact. Not surprising, given the level of local competition!

I was just musing on the local building industry yesterday as I sat in the car at the local builders' merchants waiting to extricate myself. It's in such a tight, awkward place that going in there often commits one to a long period of idleness, as lorries and vans pirouette around each other in the different loading areas, never quite leaving any space for people to get out!:rotfl:

I wished I'd brought my camera, because the view from there to Dartmoor is stunning, but that's rarely seen, because it's at the back. The part where people work has no view. Instead, the owner and his four staff sit in a dark office surrounded by junk and dust, tapping away at keyboards as they vainly attempt to keep up with orders. Yesterday, I queued for 20 minutes to get a handful of wall ties.

I watched the lady keying my stuff into the computer on a wobbly keyboard, which is missing one leg. So far as I can think back, that keyboard has been wobbling! What's that? About 6 years?

    But they're cheap.:o

Sums it all up, I think!

    I'm OK thanks phoebe
Your work on the pond will be worth it. Love ponds they add so much to a garden.

Got a meeting with the patient group I am on with NHS Commissioners in a couple of weeks. Lots and lots of paperwork to review for this one, gulp.

    Enjoying the Chelsea coverage.

You're right Dave, keyboards are cheap as chips. Some things are just false economies. In my previous job the chap in charge of the stationary cupboard held on to the keys with an iron grip. I found those plastic document wallets really useful for sorting business records - at the time you could get 100 from Woollies for £1. But he insisted I spent time 'recycling' old document wallets peeling off labels etc. Must have cost more to pay me to do that than to just buy me 100 of the bloomin' things.

I do think we are due a photo of Tinky, as she has been a such regular on these boards recently ;)
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.
