fair point Davesnave, maybe this is Karma biting me in the bum then for what we have been through re- neighbours complaining about our pigs...the diff is, we didn't need planning for our pig runs, and made sure we were all legal and above board.. they are just doing what they want...

I'm not making any kind of legal comparison; the factory people are another league. I'm just saying that we all have the potential to upset others, even when engaged in the most normal of activities. :A

We tried to look at all angles when we bought this place, but we could never have predicted that the first complaint would be because we put tomato plants on sale at the gate!:rotfl:

If you consider just the people on this thread, the following have all had neighbour issues: me, you, choille, ferretkeeper, itsme and rozeepozee. That's just off the top of my head!

    Hi all.
Firstly ctc... if doc wants to see you in 3 months its probably as a check up and monitoring. If it was of concern it would be 3 days so don't stress yet !!
Secondly is your wifi secure at house 1 ? I ask because people often sit outside houses if they can pick up a free signal......
Me personally would expect someone to ASK if photos could be taken of my property ...? Bit of an invasion of privacy !!

Just had panic call from son...did he leave wallet in his bedroom or his lounge ! Answer was yes after rumaging through various muddle...lol.

Looks like a sunny day today, going to check GG and stan. Then working on miniature railway (charity day on 23rd) then hope to plant my baskets up....

    Have a good day y'all

I have not always been very logical IRL! :rotfl:

I don't think anyone will blame me when we run out of toms. They all pass the house regularly and they see the toms on sale. Many people also understand what's going on here, 'cos they can see that too. This year, it's a case of, "when they're gone, they're gone..."and we've sold 10 already this morning. :D

The real fun & games will start when we make certain changes here to create a different sales area from the one we had before (now housing tiles and breeze blocks!:o) I expect confrontation then, but because we have planned carefully and know exactly what our rights/obligations are, I think we shall get through that OK.

Basically, we have learned a lot about selling from the side of the road, but for safety, I want to change that a bit and gradually lure them inside our place.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I'm striggling to keep up atm.

Our four new eucalyptus trees arrived this morning. They seem beatifully healthy if rather diminutive. ( knee high mainly). The biggest is a multi stem which wasn't made clear before purchase and i probably would not have bought if i'd known. But......i kinda like the chap now. So now we have to decide which to put in which remaning gap. :)

Two weeks ago in the winds our electric wires to the barns came down from the guide wires. Today fir refixed it all with the scaffold tower. Bit hairy as its still pretty gusty here, but it looks better and neater than it ever has.

Now we are just about to fix up some mosquito net over the 'veranda'. And maybe some extra mesh over the little windos in the kitchen, trying to keep flies out. I want to spend less time cleaning fly spotting off walls this summer.

Been busy today as tomorrow I'll be working at parent's flat as the occupational therapists have asked for changes to the room layouts. 50:50 dad will get home on Tue, mum not so good with low BP and now on anti-biotics for chest infection.

Very changeable weather with me, with the gusting wind pushing showers through. Mostly been attending to the pots, shaking out the 'over' tulips and getting the dahlias out the garage to replace.

Getting a bit late, but made some bamboo wigwams and sowed a mix of vines/creepers and some 'bee friendly' wildflowers.

I'm bang on Chelsea trend with umbelifers, foxgloves and iris :)

Without really paying attention, am pleased to see that my two bromeliads have throw pups and more bracts. They and the orchids must like the west facing window on the stair landing, maybe with the humidity coming from the bathroom shower?

    hi all....

well ive had my own "storm" this afternoon...:o

I went to see my mum and visiting sister this afternoon and we sat in the garden etc. when I was leaving my 3 dogs were heading for the car when new little one started barking at a young girl [8/9?] who was getting in her car with mother and younger son... girl started shrieking and jumping about ,flaying her legs etc. little dog barked more and jumped up. I called him and he jumped in my car. girl starts screaming dog had bit her  I walked over apologising and saw a scratch [1/2 inch] on her knee.. I again apologised and all seemed ok. mum,son and daughter went back into their house.. I went to say goodbye to mum and sister at side gate and suddenly this big bloke turned up, marched up the path , threatening me re the dog "biting" the girl.. I said sorry again but the dog did not understand the screaming/flaying legs, never done it before blah blah.. NOPE, he wasn't having it [which is sort of reasonable ] he demanded my name and address to which I agreed. he stomped off to get a pen and paper. meanwhile his wife and kids turned up with him hot on their heels. he was extremely agresive and I asked him not to raise his voice and be aggressive as it was upsetting my mum. he then turned round and I said "where are you going now ?" he replied "im going to get a knife to slit your dogs throat " !!!
well....... on that note I told him to leave [fill in the gaps] . I got in the car and left. I swear I would have exploded if I stayed. this was in front of his kids !!!

sister has just rung me to say he has reported me to the police and that I just left the scene and he wants the dog destroyed... his wife went to mums again after id left , to tell my sister this and said they would be "looking out for me when I next visited"... bring it on ...

whilst I understand the childs fear, the situation lasted 1 minute and the fathers threatening behaviour was out of order..
I do not respond well to bullies

    phew, I need a drink !!

ive just rang police to explain what happened and supply my name and address etc. they said I did the right thing leaving after the knife threat.. I said they [family] should not go to my mums house again as its nothing to do with her and if they do [well HIM] then I will report him for harrasement.. they agreed and said they would investigate if they have reported me and if they turn up at my mums again..

Oh Alfie, how bluddy awful for you and your mum :( Whilst I can appreciate the child being scared - as a scaredy cat myself regarding dogs when I was growing up - I can also see things from the dog's POV as we have two very excitable dogs ourselves, one of whom (the SWD) can be positively frightening if she doesn't know you.

Flaming children and their obviously lowlife parents (who on earth would threaten to slit a dog's throat, for god's sake?).....

Gosh, I do hope his threats were just that and that if he did report you to the police they will understand the situation, but I believe things have changed recently regarding what is termed as dangerous, dog-wise, ie the whole thing about dogs scaring postmen etc calling at one's house......or maybe I'm wrong?

Do hope your poor mum wasn't too shaken up over it all?

Hugs to you and hope it's resolved soon xxx

Edited to add: cross-posted before you updated. Good to hear the police seem to be taking a sensible view of this!

Alfie did the dog actually bite her, or did he scratch her by jumping up????as surely there would be a puncture or brushing in shape of a mouth???

it was a mark about 1/2 inch max long above her knee , it was not a puncture mark, which made me think it was a nail scratch as, if a bite ? [from my experiences of being bitten :o ] there would be more than one mark.. also the height was max reach for the small dog..
BUT the dog was naughty for reacting to the child and whilst I recommend the parents get her to not react like that [IF A BIGGER DOG !!!] children are children... however the fathers reaction has only re-inforced the girls fear if not made It worse...

he WAS nasty.. no need for it ....
