Baking day here. But not very lir type cakes. Very traditional ones. Just finished the first ever coffee and walnut cake I have ever made. Looks a wee bit sorry for itself tbh. But I'm sure it will taste fine ( my sort of cake at all). I've just done a lemon drizzle which, tbh I did lir a bit with some orange blossom water. Next a Battenberg and a standard Victoria sandwich. I feel uninspired.0

Torrential rain set-in with me, so slow drive back from parents flat where I spend the day de-cluttering (de-hoarding more like) in preparation for dad getting home on Tue. Occupational therapists had asked for bedroom layout to be changed to allow a zimmer to be used.
Mum a bit better after the adverse drug reaction mid-week.
Short working week for me with Friday also a holiday for Queens birthday.0 -
Hello again :hello:
After my Firefox updated on Saturday, it became unstable and crashed every minute or so. This was worrying, as I had a few ebay things ending on Sunday, the builder to pay and so on....
Anyway, I dug out a creaky version of IE and wasted hours, piddling about, uninstalling and reinstalling FF on my equally creaky connection. Until tonight, it just wouldn't work and I thought how wonderful weeding would have been, compared with fighting teknologee!:(:(
Anyway I was back on-line in time to see the oil tank go for 2x what someone offered me to stop the auction earlier in the week. And even more surprising, I've sold the 4.6 metre lintel.....to someone in Peterborough!.... Huh? I hope they don't want it posted. :rotfl:
By the way, thanks for the chicken coop idea CTC. This tank would have been a bit awkward in shape, but I like the idea. :T
Now....let's see if this posts.... with proper paragraphing; not like one I did earlier....
Wahey! It did!0 -
Dave, I had problems with the latest version of FF too.
Kept crashing and parts of the screen went black.
It seems to have been related to the add ons/extensions that I have. Took them all off and slowly adding them back in - haven't found the one that caused the problem yet - but all stable atm. Problems like that so frustrating and time consuming :mad::mad:
I'm currently writing a document for the Patient Group I'm on using Libre Office. Can I get the pages to number properly? No, no no, and I can't work out what I'm doing wrong.:o
Planned power cut here today and Mr BD is off this week so we have flasks of drinks ready. Wish I'd bought that camping stove on my Amazon wish list now.......
Drizzly and dull here, but rain desperately needed.
Hows Tinky? New meds doing the job?
Old dog had a bad day on Saturday, but full of beans yesterday.:DIt is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Alfie, your awful dog incident reminds me of what happened just before I left the city, when a teenage scooter rider took a corner too fast and fell off in front of the van. I picked him off the road and saw he was basically OK, but he drove away in a sort of panic and that was it....or so I thought.
Next day, I found a big angry bloke at the door, saying I'd caused his boy to crash, driven away, leaving him lying in the road, that he had a witness and I'd better give him money to pay for the bike, or else...or maybe he would just hit me first anyway.
I withdrew, then rang the police, who weren't much good.:(
The bloke didn't come back with his mates, as threatened, but sent his wife, who calmly set out my alternatives, all of which were about me giving her money and/or admitting liability. When I asked why the resident they'd claimed as a witness denied any knowledge, she calmly admitted they'd made that bit up.
So, it wasn't hard to see where the lad got his ideas about lying from.
But the thing I remember most was meeting the lad and his Mum at the scene later, when I decided to take some photos, just in case. He accused me of one thing I couldn't deny. I was old!So, in his book, my reactions were carp and his were great.:undecided
I just pointed out that he was the one who crashed:p, and if my reactions were that bad, he might have been under the van instead of in front of it...at which point he fell on the ground, started rolling around with his hands over his ears and shouting "Shuddup! I can't hear you!"
I always thought Harry Enfield made that stuff up. :rotfl:Where do these people come from and how did they get like they are?0 -

Not just me, then. No consolation for either of us though, as time wasted is gone forever.:(
Like Old Dog, Tinky is up and down, but the meds are working. :)Trouble is, as she gets stronger, it's harder to feed her and we end up plastered in soggy food. :rotfl:She is back to pecking for stuff herself, just not quite able to grip yet.0 -
Morning all,
Well I needed yesterday, got there at about 9.30am, it went slow up until 12.30 and before we knew it, the show was closing lol..like FK said they had changed the layout of the show around, so it did make you have to go in every building to look and find out where people were, which I think was a good thing, as you notice stalls that had been going for years, you hadn't noticed before.
By not having a stall, and having proper time to walk around and talk to people on various stands etc, it has given us more feasible ideas for the ranch...
I showed hubby your post Alfie re- entrance fees for Chelsea.. I can not even try and repeat with miss- spelt words what he said.lol..
We wouldn't mind going to some agri shows this year.. I went to malvern years and years ago, when we showed dogs, and had a quick peak around the main show.. So might see when that is on.. Or maybe some smaller ones...
Right youngest missed the buss for work, so got to take him in, catch you all latersWork to live= not live to work0
