Shyster ambulance chasing lawyers will be seeking £££££s in 'compo' paid for by the tax-payer

Let's hope it doesn't happen, the car driver is shown to be at fault, and accepts their injuries as such,...maybe the people waiting for the fire engine in the first place can seek compensation too...wonder what happened to them?

Was stuck in a queue at temp lights today, just up the road from you CTC, when I heard sirens. Prayed it was coming towards me but it was behind us, how many people in the queue do you think pulled onto the verge to let it by? Maybe a third  I wonder how they'd feel if the ambulance was for them

Oh, CTC Noticed the ginormous To Let signs next to you, do the classes of Planning permission listed give you any insight to potential uses? At leat you won't have the owners as neighbours, just their tennants...

    Morning all :D

    Lovely day here atm.

Well apart from the fact that the car wouldn't start this morning and Mr BD is waiting for the breakdown people to come. Can't complain, first time this has happened with this car. Mr BD did wash it yesterday, maybe it is still recovering from the shock!

    How are you today CTC?

    How's Tinky Winky Dave?

Lovely furniture on that website phoebe, great to browse for ideas, thank you. There's a place near us that does 'driftwood' benches. I have been seriously tempted ever since I saw them as they are so individual.

Isn't it lovely without all the election news on the radio - we need to enjoy it while we can ;)

Tinky Winky is still hanging-on, still eating/drinking, but not very perky. :undecided

I'm a bit fed-up, not only with useless electricians but also with people in the building industry, who don't seem to know much about their supposed specialist area.

Yesterday I spent some time on the phone and in person trying to get a couple of suppliers to discuss therrmal bridging and the products to eliminate that at the edges of floor slabs. I may as well have asked them to calculate the escape velocity of Earth's gravity! :rotfl:

    "Dunno what you mean, mate."

"I've been in this place for 20 years and no one has ever asked for that!"

    etc. :(

In the end, I decided maybe I was mad, but up with the lark this morning and doing more research, I find I'm not so daft after all.....

Anyway, I know what the stuff is now. I shall order some and I will have it installed! :p:p:p:p:p

Happy General Election Day all :rotfl: Hope everyone has been out early to vote? We haven't yet, but for the avoidance of doubt I'm wearing the colours of my chosen candidate from head to toe.....and no, it's not purple/yellow, lol :rotfl:

Spoke to DS last evening and his GF is working with the Greens today down in Brighton and will be involved in the count tonight. DH did this last general election in our then location - not with the Greens, I hasten to add - but despite already receiving overtures here from one party, he has resisted as we are just too busy to get involved at this stage :o

It's a brighter day here today - but still extremely chilly. Last night I had to light a log fire it was so cold and I went to bed in fleecy jimjams, alpaca bed socks, a cardy and gloves :rotfl: Goodness knows what it must be like for Choille

That's awful about the ambulance accident Alfie. Hope everyone involved is ok. Like FK, we had an incident with an ambulance hurtling through behind us recently - and as a result of those vehicles behind us not bothering to move onto the grass verge out of the way (as we did), some idiot went into the back of us

BD, driftwood benches are lovely - we saw some at a fair we attended recently (although can't for the life of me remember where now!) and I was also tempted, but we really don't need another bench.....

Hope Mr BD managed to get his car fixed ok!

Hope Tinky Winky improves Dave.....sick pets are such a worry. Our old puss is still going strong, but rarely ventures out these days.....don't blame him in this weather though ;)

Know exactly how you feel Dave, got like that with my kitchen/utility ;);) Some of the installers seem to act with astonishment when they come across a client who actually knows what they are talking about, or heaven forbid, knows more than they do. With the internet now, it is so much easier.

And in case anyone is wondering
The escape velocity is the speed an object must be given to escape from the Earth; it is 11.3 km/sec or 25,300 mph.

No phoebe - bloomin' breakdown recovery people messed us around. After waiting 2 hours a tow truck arrived. If we wanted a mechanic we would have to wait another hour and a half.:mad::mad: So Mr BD suggested that the tow truck take the car to the garage which we use and then the breakdown mechanic could look at it there. And if he couldn't fix it then at least the car was in the right place. But they didn't want to do that.....

Mr BD wanted to get to work (same village as the garage) so he went off in the tow truck at ten past nine. Not heard anything since, but the good people of Stanton will be getting their post later than usual today. :o

Goodness knows what their service is like at 'peak' times - can't see that 6.30 on a Thursday morning is going to be especially busy.

The breakdown insurance is part of the car insurance. If this isn't sorted out satisfactorily I'll get cover with the AA or the like. They couldn't be much worse.

Gosh, Better Days, never had a problem with breakdown services. We've been with Br*tann*a Rescue for many years, but as they outsource to local garages, it must be luck of the draw.

I was ready for Mr Smart&rse this morning when I phoned the local builders' merchants to tell them their price wasn't competitive with that of Tr*v*s Perk*ns. ;)

"Ah, but TP only sell Brand Z " says Mr SA. You're not comparing like with like."

"Funny," I reply, "I have the TP trade catalogue in front of me and they're selling the same stuff as you. No mention of Brand Z at all."

"Oh," he said, then changed tack to destroy his previous argument, "Well... they're all the same!"

They matched the price anyway, saving me £50. :D

Sounds similar to our local builders merchants Dave.

Their attitude to pricing is shall we say 'elastic'.

Mr BD always rings them up for a price first, then asks if it is the best they can do and always gets something off. If he gets anything like fence paint then the initial price quoted, the end price quoted and the price on the tin bear absolutely no relation to each other.

I think like your Mr SA - they just make it up as they go along. Good result on saving £50, what are you going to spend it on? I prescribe a bottle of your favourite tipple.;)

Hows Tinky Winky, did her meds arrive?

Pretty peeved with the breakdown people, Axa. The garage said all that was wrong with the car was that the battery had given up the ghost. Could have been quickly and easily fixed on the drive. The garage put in a new battery for us and only charged £99 all in.

I rang up my insurer to complain, insurer put me through to Axa. Axa said 'it's past 5pm the lines are closed'. I said 'which lines?', she replied (somewhat testily) 'the phone lines'. No they're not I said - I'm speaking to you. Penny drops, 'Ah' she says 'the lines to speak to customers about complaints. Ring back tomorrow':mad::mad::mad:

I'm out of the loop Alfie.

We're almost ready to take a seeding break for a couple of weeks I think. I'm annoyed somethings have gone in in the wrong places, but we've survived worse ;):)

The weather was really changeable today as well as light levels and I came in some hours ago. Still not feeling that chipper so going to have an early night and try and out the worst of my head for a better tomorrow.

Firs time off ends after this weekend! He's decided to go to Town on Sunday rather than have the early Monday start. We've got so used to sleeping in a knot again I'm hoping it warms up again so I don't mind him not being here so much ;)

    Tinky Winky's meds didn't arrive. :(

I dunno, I can purchase some old bit of tat and it will reach here from Glasgow next day with free P&P, but meds with a £5 surcharge for express delivery, forget it!

Tinky is still giving it her best, so she's eaten several times and we've put plenty of water into her to keep hydration up, but something had better reach us tomorrow....

In other news, the electricians arrived, did the minimum they had to do and left again, I filled Pete's trailer with several tonnes of rubble and we began bricking-up the garage doorway. That will set tongues wagging, though so far as I know, the garage has not been used as one since about 1990. ;)

And of course, we voted...twice, as it's the local council election too. One of our neighbours is leader of the council, so he'll be having a long day/night. Not too onerous most of today, though, just sitting outside the Village Hall saying "Hello" to everyone. It would have been a different experience yesterday!
