Also glad you saw the doc today CTC, although it's slightly disappointing that he only prescribed pain killers...they just can't get away from treating the symptoms. I suppose they want to rule certain things out, but all too often they spend an eternity finding out what you don't have instead of making the leap to ask what you might have. Just Thinking of a lady I saw on the news this morning who had ovarian cancer but was much younger than the usual age to get it, so it wasn't considered until it was almost too late, it had spread etc etc, and she's lucky to have survived.
Don't know about you but I felt better after just telling someone, I too fell apart on the phone to a lovely NHS direct nurse. Plus I had got so worked up when I couldnt speak to a doctor or nurse at my own practice I was almost frantic, but by the time I got my appointment in person I was a bit more together and very clear about what I wanted to happen, I was not being fobbed off.
Be interesting to see what the BP monitor comes up with, if the doc didn't tell you already, it's worth keeping a diary of what happens each day to compare to the readings - a top tip from that nurse, to record moods and feelings and see if there's a pattern relating to daily events.
On a lighter note, been watching the 4 part series with Kate humble and Raymond Blanc cooking produce from the kitchen garden at Kew, on catch up - I was craving a bit of gardening TV! There's loads of interesting info and good ideas; it's a bit lacking in actual practical gardening detail, lots has been edited out by the looks of it, and the recipes are still a bit cheffy for my liking, but Raymond is brill, I never knew he was so funny!
Well I can't hear the wind blowing stuff around anymore, hopefully it'll quieten down for a while, it's been a hell of a day!0 -
painkillers often help calm tense muscles which in turn calm the body. id rather try that first than jump into anti D's... I know if I get stressed my joints hurt like hell and I take a painkiller which helps. I leave this for severe bout...;)
from my own experience they often have to rule out various things before prescribing or could do more harm than good.. I was first tested for a brain tumour before many investigations led them to final results.. !!!
I still do certain relaxation exercises in my bed every morning which help no end ! I get strange looks from dogs and cat but they seem to know I move quicker once ive done it... which means I let them all out for a pee quicker ....:D0 -

So I bought one at the chemist for £14.99...
When he went through my records.. Over the years my blood pressure seems very irratic lol.. From very low at one time to normal, slightly high, very high ..
Hmmm.
As someone who takes there own blood pressure at home for drs this advice for this kind of issue really unsettles me tbh. Not least as to send someone home who is stressed and tell them to monitor a health indicator they might have to be worried about seems rather opposed to relaxing them!
Does the monitor you got check your wrist bp or your arm? Less expensive home units are notoriously unreliable so PLeASE do not be too alarmed if it does seem to jump about a bit.0 -
The arm lir...
I can totally see your point lir, I have blood test on Monday, ( which I am dreading as I hate needles lol) , but over the last few years re- work, asda, re- ranch, it does feel I am constantly stressed out.. Which has got to eventually start shoeing signs ...
Pity I just couldn't just play around with sowing seeds, transplanting seedlings etc in the greenhouse, as for me this is the best relaxing thin ever ... I love it, and for me is really calming...
Maybe me winning all these plant pots are a sign hahahahaWork to live= not live to work0 -
Arm are more reliable in general, but please don't set great store or stress on results. Xx
Although its not something I am proud of I started taking antidepressants last year. I feel they have quite literally saved my life. I have taken other antidepressants for non mental health reasons and was very resistant to the idea. However, I feel these pills are a wonderful fit. I do not feel like a zombie, I feel more like me than when I was struggling. I feel exactly the same way about the issues that were perturbing me but feel I have some ability to think not just weep over the issues. Though the pills have not changed my over all long term opinions I feel that they have been able to let me take a longer, calmer view. And importantly to say to myself: I was coping with to much, I have to accept that my capacity is smaller than I want it to be, and if I don't I can see the result is not good for me In my current situation.0 -

I have an expensive home unit (same as at the docs) and it still gives differing readings within minutes. It's best to do 2 or 3 and take an average.
But then blood pressure varies throughout the day. I did mine last night and it was fine, while this morning it's
And no wonder. Finally diagnosed Tinky Winky's problem as a fungal disease, not cancer, so I have had the unenviable choice of vet or product via internet for racing pigeons. I chose the latter, but it was still over £20 with express delivery.
May not be express enough, though!
EDIT: Agree totally that anti-depressants have improved and offer a means of coping in difficult times, without nasty side effects, for many.0 -

Yes, I have one of these and an expensive wrist one too. Ironic as my bp is usually fine, tends to being too low apart from an issue last year which was a biochemical reaction.0 -
OH blood pressure races up when he is getting it taken.
I don't understand why you were prescribed Ipubrophen - which is not a harmless drug by the way (OH ended up in accident & emergency twice with it) but he has an allergy to it. It is used more for anti - inflammatory purposes usually.
I would go see another DR to be honest.
Hissing down here like the floods again. Ridiculous, if this keeps up I shall refuse to pay my council tax!0 -
the Dr asked me if I was taking anything for the pain, and I said I bought some ibruphen, so he said carry on with them, but don't wait for the pain to come, he said take them contiuous for a few, he gave me a prescription for them, they are 400g ones, to be taken I, 3 times a day, but the thing is, I took one this morning, and I was going to take one tea time, then bed time, but from around 1pm,, the pain is coming back... really bad, so have had to take one now...
will see how it goes and if it is still bad on Friday, I will see if I can see the dr again...Work to live= not live to work0 -
They are drugs & don't exceed the stated dose in 24 hours.
I know of someone who died - they do your liver in. Very easy to OD on.
You can alternate with paracetomal - take those as well.
You should maybe try some yoga, best if you go to a class though - means you do it right.
One excercise I do is to stand with your feet apart & knees slightly bent, look over the right shoulder as far as you can, turn to the front, do that three times then look over your left then turn to the front. Do that three times. Then look up as far back as your head will go. Then look forward. Do that three times. Then place your head down - chin into your neck & up - three 3 times. Then rotate your head using all of those movements. To do it right you do all the warm ups first - ie look left, right, up & down three times. That releases tension in the neck & head & cured my whiplash. Fab excercise.
Right - It's still pishing down. 4 " fell last night just a bit further up from here & the fire brigade are out to flooding, but will that be on the news - I doubt that.0
