Hi all
Absolutely shattered today as we were up all night watching the election results and I finally crawled into bed at around 7am, but then couldn't sleep with excitement.....am extremely happy with the results for the Conservatives :T:T:T
DH eventually confessed that he didn't vote UKIP as he'd been threatening to do.....think I might have to divorce him if he had, lol :rotfl:
Do feel rather sorry for Nick Clegg though as he seems like a really nice, genuine sort of bloke.....
Anyway, so sleepy today that I'm snuggled up with a mountain of hand-sewing as it's all I can be a$$ed to do, better than twiddling my thumbs, although quite similar actually
Dave, glad to hear Tinky Winky's meds finally reached you, hope she recovers x
BD, let's hope the taste of poached egg does the trick and your hens are soon laying again
Weather was quite nice here first thing, but now turned all damp and drizzly. Flipping chilly again too. Am destined not to enjoy the new garden furniture!Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

Same here, and it was lovely earlier.
If you want a smile then you might like this which was linked on another thread - The Ballard of Lidl and Aldi - if you haven't already seen it.

Well, me and Mr BD enjoyed it anyway. It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

I didn't vote cons, and yep I felt sorry for nick clegg, ( didn't vote for them too) but as they say you got to be careful who you hop into bed with....
Regardless what people think, Ukip have some good points. And I totally agree with them, with adopting the point system to come into our country like Australia.
We spoke about this topic before when ITSME was here, but I am still concerned that the cons might bring in the land tax, that was talked about... The thing is they got to find billions of pounds, and they haven't said where it is coming from....Work to live= not live to work0 -

Hahaha she doesn't want to send them down to us for a week free if charge lol...
I didn't know that about Canada but it makes total sense..
When I went to the states to some dog shows (showed someone's dog there) I went on my own, and took 2 dogs over for someone, a young girl in her late teens when I got into the airport I had loafs of questions, good Job I had a return ticket, they asked me where I was staying, so I said I am staying at a George Washington motel, she asked me which one, and I hadn't a clue, as that was sorted out by the person in the states.. Honestly thought they went going to let me into the country.. As I think they thought I was going to stay there without a ' green' card.
Wonder what other countries have a strict policy re- entering their country???Work to live= not live to work0 -
Yes, we were asked questions when we went to Australia on our hols. I agree they have the right idea when it comes to their points system for letting people into the country. I have a friend from South Africa who came over here to work as a vet. She thinks we're crackers letting in all and sundry.
What I think it daft about it all is that we're on a bloomin' island - shouldn't be that difficult to monitor people coming in and going out. 'We have the technology' and all that (showing my age now - remember the six million dollar man - Steve something or other wasn't he?)
I felt sorry for Nick Clegg too - but the coalition was always going to be a poisoned chalice - although no way did I think it was going to be as bad for the Lib Dems as it was. Sorry Vince Cable lost his seat, he made a couple of dodgy decisions but I think he did at least have some integrity. God knows where the Cons are going to find the £12 billion of cuts in welfare spending, its not going to be pretty. It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Only this:

On the subject of entering the USA, when I was quite young, my friend was besotted with an American girl holidaying here, so followed her over to the States. As her parents weren't too keen on him, he ended up sleeping rough, was arrested for vagrancy, and since he couldn't pay the fine, received a 200 day sentence, labouring on a secure soya bean farm.
He wasn't too keen on that! Eventually his parents 'liberated' him through the British Embassy, but they confiscated his passport and refused to give it back until he'd paid the fare and other costs associated with his repatriation.
Tinky Winky may be a little better tonight. We had to force-feed her today, which isn't pleasant, but if we hadn't she would soon have become dehydrated. She was noticeably better after tonights food/water mix, but I also noticed the awful smell from the fungus stuff in her mouth had lessened considerably. More pills tomorrow.0
