FK, you don't fancy a few hours heavy graft work do you lol??
I really would have done, if I'd seen this earlier, and not been out all daywhat a pain to have to sort out  hopefully by the time you read this it's all over.
I was at a talk at the local Ag College on planning, very useful, got to ask expert loads of stuff for free and they're going to help me some more once I email them
Then called in at my feed place which was nearby, they're looking into making a special mix for my meat and milking goats.
Then I got back just in time for my regular Skype call with DH and about 20 minutes in I could hear a goat calling outside. They are a vocal lot but this was different, so I abandoned DH and went out to check
This wasn't what I was expecting!
The first one was stuck, and goats make enough noise in labour at the best of times, but mum had gone into a stable and it muffled the sounds so I thought it was a different goat.
I managed to get her and baby out of the stable and into a pen I quickly rustled up out of hurdles, settled her with the little boy, then she had the second one. She was quick as a flash coming out!
They're both on their feet and feeding and mums cleaned them up, I think I'll get the heat lamp over for them though, IIRC the forecast is for a chilly night?
Just time for a quick cuppa and snack to tide me over til dinner0 -
Lovely kids, fk and interesting advice, Dave.
Just found this interesting, although nothing to do with daydreams really but shows how persistant heritage is on some areas http://www.nature.com/news/british-isles-mapped-out-by-genetic-ancestry-1.17136
I have 4 Scots, three West Yorks and 1 mobile mob as GGparents.
The 4 Scots have family origins in Mull, Ayrshire/SW Scotland, the Borders and Lothian. Was surprised to discover that they were probably from genetically distinct populations whilst the various WY going back to 13C are probably more similar.
Would be interesting to see if how mid-Wales panned out if they had any examples. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

It's off that obscure Junction 23a I was talking abou,t and the property we liked was only a few miles north of there in the St Brides valley....:D
.....but you will hear the M4 from there.
Fabulously well connected for travelling to different parts of the country though, and probably popular with commuters to Bristol nowadays too.0 -

Repotted my Oncidium orchid this evening, am now getting the hang of doing this (I hope!).
It it been supplied in glass vase with no drainage, so hopefully a move to a pot with lots of holes for air and drainage will cheer it up and it'll start a new pseudo-bulb and flower in the autumn0 -

Small worldYes I do think its off J23a and you can hear the M4 from the back garden. My friends bought the house as a new build and they were told that there would be 'noise measures' put in place - some sort of banks - it has never materialised.
Bitterly cold here this morning - northerly wind with sleet in.It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Is anyone else having the problems I'm having?
I haven't had an email notification from MSE in several days....:mad:0 -
I don't get the notifications Dave, sorry I can't help!
Had a bit of drama with the wee boy born yesterday, after an hour I went to see if mum had finished drying him off but he was still wet. It was getting cold but even with the heat lamp it didn't help, and I think mum stood on him, he was so inactive he didn't get out of the way.
Anyway after I fed everyone else I decided to take him in, tried all sorts to warm him up, ended up using a hairdryer but it did the trick!
I had spoken to the vet as one eye had the third eyelid showing, like he'd taken a knock, or maybe from being stood on, and was acting a bit dopey. she said it was better to risk mum rejecting him the next day than losing him in the night so to keep him in.
And I did, he came to bed with me and Dexter the cat! I put him over the lecccy blanket on low, but on top of the duvet for a while, and through the night offered him a bottle of milk I got from mum earlier.
This morning he's a lot brighter, mum took him back fine and he's suckling, still seems a bit dazed but he was trying to jump at one point, he's not very steady on his legs yet!
Funny, I feel ok after such a disturbed night, but I bet it catches me up later. Better get some coffee down me, it's another nice day and I want to get lots done!0 -
LIR... wondering if you could help, I am looking for wallpaper has the pattern of one that would have been used in 1800's, and will suit a room that has exposed stone..
its going to be for a feature wall, and to be used in a frames ( pictures) to hang on a cream tongue and groove wall in the same room..
so basically feature wallpapered wall, 2 exposed stone walls and a tong and groove wall ( going to use this to cover the insulation on an external wall..
hope that makes sense lol...Work to live= not live to work0 -
