edit... I have an old pack of unopened beetroot seeds dated 2009, what is the likely hood of they germinating? worth a go? or bin them??

    Hi all :D

Lovely warm, sunny, Spring-like day here - perfect for sitting out on the verandah with a glass of something sparkling (and alcoholic ;)) but unfortunately we'd booked the rug doctor - never used one before, but thought we'd give it a try on a couple of the PO's carpets that we aren't planning to replace for a couple of years - so a day inside beckoned....typical, huh?

Got some fab news last night - DS and his GF have purchased their first ever pet as a couple......an adorable eight week old Bedlington Whippet puppy called Wilbur :A So we are new grandparents (kind of ;)) God knows what our two loons will make of him when they meet for the first time in a few weeks.....off to the pet shop in a mo to treat the new *baby* of the family to some toys :D

Hope everyone enjoyed the eclipse - was a bit disappointing here tbh....

Choille - it sounds as though you are making excellent progress now.....can't wait to see some pics x

    CTC

If they are in a foil packet, reasonable. Paper - not so much.

Get a paper towel, moisten, add 20 seeds , fold over and put in a plastic bag. Seal and leave up to a week. Then see how many have started to germinate.

The sun came out after the eclipse, so a chance to appreciate the early flowering plants. I'm not one to fawn over minute differences in hellebore flowers, so it's pretty standard stuff!

Tired today - the progress is good, but I seem to spend time running to get things, hand things up ladders & paint & make cups of tea & coffees - constantly.

Lovely hellebore and drumstick primula. :) The vine weevils had the latter at our place.

I must take a photo of my black hellebore with black leaves. That's pretty hard to ignore! :D

Glorious day here too, though I was forced to do more shopping for materials and a quick trolley dash around S***burys. :( Down in Barnstaple it was real T shirt weather. .....

Edit: Oh, a couple of you have said that...:o

OK it was surfin weather! :p Must've been, I got stuck behind one of those old Volkswagen campers with boards on the top, struggling back inland.....cool-smiley-026.gif

Our builder runs on tea & choc digestives. I don't think his wife lets him have the latter at home, as she's quite a health buff. :p:p

And if one isn't running to & fro on site, finding tools, materials etc, then there's always something missing that's needed right NOW....so it's into the car or van and off to the builders' yard...like today. Forgot a basin waste didn't I? :o

Still, fantastic that you are seeing some real action at last. You've had an incredible amount to put up with. :A

    morning all,

just came home for a cuppa, and a freshen up..

yep she had a HUGE litter, but sadly.. we have lost a few... there is only so much time you can sit in the shed with her, making sure she doesn't lay on them.. even though I am totally against them ( they are now illegal ) I can see why pig breeders used to use those horrible crates ..even with a creep area, this doesn't stop piggy mums just flopping down and lying on them sadly

big girl pig is looking really well, hasn't lost any of her body weight, just the big stomach bulge lol. and fingers crossed over the next day or so she will carry on producing milk, and get more attentive to the little ones...

will try and post a pic later...
