Well done you for stopping and helping..
Just want to clarify most horses do not NEED shoes to go on roads. Injuries might have been from shoes ripping off, possibly more likely if shoeing over due or feet not good. Many of mine never or rarely wore shoes out of competing when it was essential, some never wore shoes. Some always did.
( by essential when competing I mean when competing under rules which demanded it.....not that the horses had to have shoes to do it)0 -

Ah, thanks for that explanation LIRNot sure what the cause of the bleeding was exactly then - I haven't been involved with horses since riding as a child of nine/ten
All I know is a girl turned up who worked with the horses where they were housed some four miles away - she said they were racehorses but again I haven't a clue, although they looked like thoroughbreds- and said all but this one had shoes, which I assumed accounted for why the others were trotting and this one was not. She didn't hang around as once she knew that particular horse was in safe hands, she was intent on heading off to intercept the others.
The remaining escapees (between five and seven others - 'twas hard to tell exactly how many there were in total as they made a frightening sight, weaving through the traffic along the A41) had been moving much faster and had long since disappeared along the carriageway. The one we were able to apprehend was hobbling because of it's torn feet which left a huge pool of blood in the layby. We later retraced our steps and saw bloody hoof prints for milesThe other guy that stopped his car to help seemed to think the poor thing wouldn't be racing again......
I just hope they are all ok.
Since arriving home I've been googling escaped horses in that location and it seems to be a regular occurrence along the A41, which I thought was a bit odd.Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

When I asked for chrome surface mounted sockets my electricians nearly went into melt down  don't see things like that around here :rotfl: it's easier to just get what you want and hand it over!0 -
Alfie - your present hasn't been used much lately apart from the wellies which I wear daily & they are an absolute boon & fit a treat.Still not totally dried out so it is a necessity for good wellies & coz I wear them for ages it's excellent when they are comfy - which they are very.
Good the horses were attended to.
CTC - Lovely piglets.
We have someone coming tomorrow for outside finishing stuff who is great & has been here this week & just works. Hope it's dry as it's not on if it's wet coz of slippey roof.0 -
