Hey, that costume would have done me last year!
Looks waaay professional....:A
You should see my outfit this year. No, on second thoughts....:o
I'll be lucky if it survives the week.
Thanks for checking-in lir. Stay warm and as relaxed as you can.
The costume is hired Dave
I think Mr BD's costume looks like those dreadful Dr Who episodes with Bonnie Langford and Colin Baker. That hat is enought to sort out a whole planet of time lords. Still Mr BD has great fun although I'm not sure about the 'evil baddie' expression' :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Hope all goes well with the dress rehearsal.......It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Is there pantos on at this time? Or does it take so long to prepare for Chistmas?
Blowing a hooley here again but gone weirdly mild. It snowed on the road over to Dingwall yesterday. Met the Hydro guy & he was on about all the damage done with the bad storm - he's keeping busy because of it. It actually snapped electric poles - they don't call them telegraph poles now but those too.0 -

It's traditional here, probably because people are busier before Christmas, and maybe the thought is also that folks need something to look forward to or do during the dark evenings.
We are the only village for miles around that does its own Panto, and as we're also one of the smaller ones, it's a matter of great pride. :A
None of the actors/actresses has any connection with drama clubs either, which means a less 'polished' show, but the audiences love that too.
The only hassle is the metal seating in the hall, which we were due to replace....until we found out that £26k was needed to mend the roof.
So, it's 4 nights of mayhem & madness now, but possibly another £1.5k towards that roof.....
Selfie...pity you can't see the boobs! :rotfl:0 -
Love the makeup Dave. Certainly gives you some colour! Ooooeeerr
;);)
How did the dress rehearsal go?
I remain surprised how popular Mr BD's Panto is, they are pretty much sold out in the first day of ticket sales. But as you say there is little else to do at this time of year, and enthusiasm and outrageous costumes can always trump forgetting lines and scenery falling over. :cool:It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Lovely couple of days here weather-wise so we've been busy in the garden - have planted loads (David Austin roses, primroses, hellebores, irises etc). We've almost finished restoring the rose bed to how it was in the original EA pics, but unfortunately that's just the tip of the iceberg
DH has rebuilt some dry-stone walling and the PO's shed (bright orange, but custom-built complete with terracotta tiled roof) has been given a coat of a more tasteful colour paint and is now more in keeping with its surroundings
I've also done a ton of tidying outside - and a *headcount* of what we have, although some shrubs are hard to identify in their naked, leafless state! Did count over thirty rose bushes though which is more than I'd thought there were.
Rain forecast for the next few days so will be back on the decorating tomorrow. Want to get ahead of myself as we have a few trips out (antique fairs and gardens) planned for the weekend......
Absolutely loving the costumes Dave and Mr BD :T Do hope the pantos are a huge successMortgage-free for fourteen years!

Looks wet & windy today. Whether this will bring our plasterers in here from the house they're building remains to be seen. I'd prefer not, as we have the electricians back to do the stuff they should have done last week as prep for plastering. I also don't want to pay someone else to Unibond the walls when I can get filthy doing it for free.
My bet is plasterers Sunday & Monday, moonlighting from the other job.
Plumbers have finished phase 1 of their work. :j
Yesterday, I spent much of pm trying to grind down a projecting steel beam we decided to leave in the wall before Christmas, as it wouldn't come out easily. Bad decision: could have cut it off with the grinder then in around 10 minutes. We live and learn....
Panto went well with a real audience. Just have to rinse and repeat 3 more times now.0
