Not sure what value talking books have in a monetary form but I do know there is a small library of them in my Mum's care home. Some of the residents find it easier to listen to these rather than reading a book.
My grandsons also listen to talking books at bedtime. Helps them drift off to sleep.0 -
I presume this was 'alliums' before your iPad got hold of it!
Hmmmm, many alliums will already be growing beneath the soil, and my ramsons are already above it, so maybe not now.
I'd suggest digging down beside one and seeing what it is, or isn't doing before deciding. If it's still dormant, then move, but always leave a couple for insurance.
PS More dahlias are killed by slugs than hard winters. Slugs aren't a big problem here though.0 -
this is my add for the caravan.....................................................................I KNOW, I KNOW... YOU HAD TO CALL THE MISSUS TO SEE THIS ONE ;-)... THIS IS THE ONE YOU HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR AFTER DISCUSSIONS OVER NUMEROUS PINTS OF BEER ... THE SHEER CHARM OF THIS DES RES HAS CAPTURED YOU SO LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT IT ! THIS DELIGHTFULL LITTLE HOME ON WHEELS [believed 60s] STARTED ITS LIFE AS A VEHICLE OF ENVY TO THE NEIGHBOURS WHO COVETTED A HOLIDAY IN IT.. IT HAS TRUNDLED THE USUAL CAMP SITES AND NO DOUBT HOUSED THE ICONIC OWNER IN HIS ANNORAK SAT IN A FOLDING CHAIR PROUDLY SHOWING OFF HIS "TORTOISE"... IM GUESSING HE TRAVELLED SOLO UNLESS HE MANAGED TO RE-ENACT "FIFTY SHADES OF ANNORAKS" IN THE POSTAGE SIZE BED.. AS TIME PASSED MR ANNORAK BECAME MR "BIRD WATCHER"...[THE FEATHERED KIND]...... NEEDING ROOM TO SWING HIS BINNOCULARS AROUND MR ANNORAK REMOVED WHAT LITTLE FITTINGS WERE THERE.. HE OBVIOUSLY STOOD UP TOO QUICKLY AT THE SIGHTING OF THAT RARE "BIRD" [NO NOT THE NEIGHBOUR IN HER PINK FRILLY NEGLIGEE!] AND BROKE A HEAD SIZE HOLE IN THE SUN LIGHT.. ALBEIT THE SUNLIGHT BEING BY NOW FOGGED UP AND LETTING IN VERY LITTLE OF THE UK'S FAMOUS SUNSHINE... SO WHAT DO WE HAVE?? POTENTIAL? ....POSSIBLY AN ESCAPE FOR THE NAGGED HUSBAND/WIFE WHO WISHES TO BECOME AN AGROPHOBIC VERY QUICKLY IF TIME IS SPENT IN THERE TOO MUCH.... OR A PLAY HOUSE TO LOCK THE KIDS IN... A MAN CAVE? SO BACK TO CONDITION.... THIS HAS BEEN STORED [HIDDEN] FOR SOME YEARS. I TOWED IT HERE WITH A WIDE CORDON AND A FOLLOWING VEHICLE DISPLAYING HAZZARD LIGHTS... I WOULD RECOMMEND A TRAILER/SKIP/BOX OF MATCHES TO REMOVE... SO IF BY NOW YOU ARE ALL SAT ROUND YOUR LAPTOP, DRUNK, THEN BID FOR THIS DES RES AND LOOK FORWARD TO THE WIFES GLEEFULL RE-ACTION WHEN YOU TELL HER SHEEPISHLY WHAT YOU HAVE BOUGHT FOR HER AS A BELATED VALENTINES GIFT... YOU KNOW YOU WANT IT.............. collection as soon as possible please as i fear someone will try and steal this valuable relic , i will make strong black coffee for you to encourage enthusiasm......... thankyou. p.s. i added the horse picture just for the hell of it :-)0

Love the ad alfie.....I almost want to bid for it! :T
Plumbers started yesterday. Plumbers, builder and Outlaws here today, plus dress rehearsal this evening, so should be lots of fun in the next 15 hours or so......:o:cool::eek:
Last night, the make-up + rehearsal took over 4 hours....! There's a line in the script that says, "We've locked all the doors" .....and maybe we'll have to! :rotfl:
CTC I'm still trying to catch Horse Woman for some rugosa roses, but she's an early bird and has normally locked up by the time I get out there, having dealt with builders etc. I will try to see her at the weekend.0 -
Love the ad. Hope it attracts some interest alfie. Afraid I won't be bidding for it - some of my worst childhood memories are of being forced to go caravanning every weekend! Mind you caravans now have far more mod cons than they did 55 years ago!!0

I have happy caravan holiday memories from the 50s, most of them down this way, though I remember my parents booking 2 weeks in Burnham on Sea. We only stayed a week because the car broke down in cheddar Gorge and we couldn't then afford to stay, but during the first week the sea didn't visit the 'beach' in daytime at all.
Lovely day here.0 -
Is lir OK? She's not been here for a week now.....:(0
