Yes, all 11 of them! :rotfl:

Once our posh tree comes into fruit it will be a different story... ....but that won't be until about 2018. :(

I can tell it's autumn, because the Panto script has arrived, freshly tweaked. :) This year I have no regal part, I'm just a lady from the WI, but one who does a bit of Kung Fu on the side. I note that my knickers fall down at the end of scene 1 and I say "Ooh, young man!" a lot.....

    No stereotyping, then. ;)
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: a permiscuous WI lass eh ?!! bendy and loose ;) :rotfl:

LOL that's funny Alfie, my mum rang out of the blue last night to announce she's taking herself off on holiday to Malta tomorrow! Apparently it's nice there ATM?! Nice of her to let me know, I can't remember what a holiday is :o

although with a new animal helper outer in training here we are planning something for our 10 yr wedding anniversary, it's not til next November :o

I want to go to the Abu dhabi Grand Prix, DH will only have a short hop from his present location to meet me there, that's the plan at least, and it's only a long weekend, not like we're off for a fortnight!

Good to hear from rhiwie and choille and also more new peeps :T

This weather is a tad annoying, can't rouse myself to do anything outdoors except the minimum animal jobs, I've been concentrating on the crafts and furniture lately, I'm finding it important to have several income streams ATM ;)

Sadly gardening is definitely not on the agenda although I must go and put my sweet corn out of its misery, they all got blown sideways last week  looks edible though I'll need some preserving recipes if I pick the lot in one go....any suggestions?

And my pumpkins/squashes look alright, the uchiki kuri Looks great, It has done really well, it grew like a triffid, you could literally tell when it's roots found the pig muck cos it went mad! and the little ones are my faves to eat, baked whole with sage and cream, or melty cheese, I'll have one all to myself, comfort food or what!

Right I'm off to bed, it's like I want to hibernate, Im so ready for these dark evenings, it feels like its been a really long summer, lovely but the long days for months on end have killed me, now I've got time to have long baths with wine and candles again :D

    Cheers guys!

Garden wise has been a bit of a disaster this year although fruit crops were good, repaying work of earlier years.

MIL had succumbed to dementia and died in July after a stroke. Horrible slow end. DW has been sorting out her affairs ever since.

Trying to keep our minds active with our business which is steady. We still love the rummaging and thrill of finding bargains and sleepers. Once we were given a tray of glass. Lying on top were two Charles Horner silver hatpins! We've set up a new website which went live last month, bit of an indulgence at our age.

Researching objects is one of our joys. Bought two odd looking brass candlesticks at a car boot on Sunday. Playing around with them we discovered they were spring loaded (just missed the eye!) and they still work well when loaded. Great fun, you can see it doesnt take much to amuse us!

That's brought us up to date, will enjoy seeing how you are all doing.

So sorry to hear about your MIL Rhiw. Glad to hear you are still enjoying your business and that it is ticking over well, maybe you could PM your new website details to us?

Alfie I know what you mean about the garden, I really wan tot get out in mine but time just seems to vanish. A few hours work and it would look great now and be prepped for next year, nut I can't even seem to find that atm.

Ferret You always sound so busy! I do think that it is important for small business to diversify so that if one income stream is removed they have money coming in from elsewhere. The problem is trying to do all of them well which will be why you are so tired.

CTC How are all the pigs doing?

LIR HAve you planted much in the herb garden or are you planning and scheming for next year?
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!

Sorry about MiL rhiwie. Dementia seems to have affected so many families known to me in recent years, though I suppose in the old days people didn't have a name for it, wouldn't admit to family members having it, or the older folks just didn't live so long. Whatever the reasons, it's emotionally draining for those who are the carers.

Good news that you are still in business and gaining real pleasure from it as your expertise grows. Husband & wife teams are usually formidable! ;)
  • Thanks for all the welcomes and replies everyone. This thread moves so quickly, i'm trying to keep on top of it but some things may just pass me by. :)

CTC: I just saw your pig photos, they are just the most gorgeous things in the world.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Rummer, we've planted things we had in pots mainly, but it was too enthusiastic, and the soil level in the raised beds has dropped A LOT and stuff it going to have to be replanted in some of those.

A lot will be annuals or sown from seed , so itching for spring.......mean while, will buy another tonne of topsoil some time over winter to top up empty beds when its cold and dry, and then just see how the others go. Annoyingly I planted some thyme at the very top and its sunk dramatically. If we had soil now I'd fill and replant now, but it will be too late by the time we do......lol.

Well, the 'weather' has passed through, we have blue sky and it looks as if the roofing will continue now.:)

Our builder was able to carry on in this morning's rain by preparing the joists above the kitchen for new plasterboard. The original builders didn't make too good a job of that area, so there's been a fair bit of strengthening.;)

I didn't waste time either. Went down to the builders' merchants to pick up more battens and the cavity wall insulation.:A

Yesterday's visit from the Building Inspector passed without incident. He just shook his head and smiled wryly at the incompetence of our architect and structural engineer. I have a feeling that he sees mistakes like theirs all the time. :(
