Just popped in to say hello.
We've had better years, and better health, but things are settling down now. We've just got a gardener to help look after our patch which had got too much for us.
Will be delving back into the threads for piccies of all the projects
Good to see so many posters, and good wishes to all daydreamers!
:j:j:j:j:j SO good to hear from you!!!!! :j:j:j:j:j
Sorry to hear you have had a tough year, I hope things are on the up now.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

Rhiwfield - Really glad you've popped back, hope you make it a habit. I've missed you & all the bay news.
Hopefully you & Mrs R will get better health & how sensible to get help with the garden.
Greyish here, but steadily getting brighter.
Still free listing on the bay so I may just try & stir myself even though it's so very dead at the mo.
We are having a specially made boiler that will do our heating & water & possible micro hydro add in later on. That get's delivered this week, but as our track is still only half repaired I will have to wheelbarrow it down from the road. Such is life. All shopping & anything heavy has to be brought down in a barra....0 -
Trying to catch up
I think some days we could do with a little synopsis at the end of the day of all the salient points;);)
Hi TG love your garden - loads of potential. Do post lots of piccies if you can, it is great to see how things progress. Dave posted a lovely photo of his autumn border recently and I think it was LIR who shared her pretty fuchia's too. I'm a sucker for pretty plant photos. I've got one of those 'blow away' greenhouses too, it's going to have to come down soon or else end up in the next village with the winter winds.
Dog has just been sick, probably been indulging in chicken poo snacks  Had a nice afternoon out for tea and choccy cake with a friend so this is probably karma as far as he is concerned. They have a lovely golden lab who gave us lots of sloppy lab kisses and washed me so thoroughly I don't think my arm will need to be washed again for a week.:D:D:D
Been a hectic few days. As some of you may recall I have been involved on a Patient / Carer group working with the NHS to improve ME and CFS services in our region. Well we haven't had a meeting for over a year (due mainly to the upheavals going on in the NHS - you couldn't make some of the things that have been going on) but we do have a meeting coming up later in the month. Lots to do.
And here at home we are having work done on the heating system with TVR's installed and tomorrow hopefully a super dooper thermostat/programmer that can be controlled via smart phone or the internet. Then it will be on to getting the utility done and a water softener installed - which I am really looking forward to, my skin is getting so dry, but maybe it's just my age :cool::cool:It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

My bargains from the weekend sale at Crocus arrived today, just giving them a drink -
Ilex x meserveae "Blue Maid" as a standard
Matteuccia struthiopteris (shuttlecock fern) - I have several Athyrium filix-femina (lady ferns) but wanted a shuttlecock
Cenolophium denudatum (Baltic parsley) - umbellifers are so on trend after Chelsea
Also delivered is this immense planter I spotted on Amazon Warehouse, reduced from £137() to £34. It's 24" square, like a garden in a box...am thinking next year put cannas and all the dahlias in it.0 -
I'd love to see some of you Felix femina.
I just have one tiny one planted a couple of weeks ago.0 -

Yup, that is an immense planter..... :rotfl:Lucky my DW didn't see it or she'd have wanted four!
Chelsea or no, we discovered cenolophium about 8 years ago. Easy from seed and it sold well. What goes around.... Whoops! Must've lost it though...:o:o:o
The Lady Fern is something I'll have to look out for. There were shuttlecock ferns in the stream area here, and we brought more....typical coals to Newcastle scenario. They are good doers and grow well under FiL's walnut tree.
Speaking of walnuts, ours are just about ready on the 'wild' tree, and despite dire warnings here, we have seen no sign of squirrels.0 -
Lucky you! Hope they are delicious!0

Yes, all 11 of them! :rotfl:
Once our posh tree comes into fruit it will be a different story... ....but that won't be until about 2018.
I can tell it's autumn, because the Panto script has arrived, freshly tweaked. This year I have no regal part, I'm just a lady from the WI, but one who does a bit of Kung Fu on the side. I note that my knickers fall down at the end of scene 1 and I say "Ooh, young man!" a lot.....
No stereotyping, then.0
