    to paint.

the wall we are using tong and grove, the rayburn is going on that wall, so I thought maybe, we would not cover up the part where the rayburn is going, ( exposed stone) and and put a wooden cooker style hood there to hide the flue going out of the wall, to make it look like a false chimney if that makes sense..

will see if I can google some pics

We ate very well tonight, and plan to eat well tomorrow too. :) hopefully that will earn me a few days out of the kitchen and living on cold cuts and left overs. :)

the other thought I had, sounds silly, but get an old wooden fire surround , but out it up on a plinth, and bring it forward from the wall and make it look like a fire surround..

a bit like the one on this site ( 8th picture down)

the hood is similar.... you would have to build a support either side of cooker to take the frame if you try the fireplace look. perhaps a brick ? but that one in pic rests on a counter top, will you do that ?

I do no catering as I wouldn't dare have anyone down here, but cook well for us.

Went outdoors to look at the sky & a long tailed mouse was up the tree at the fat balls. It just sat there dazzled in the torch light for ages - wonderful.
  • good plan Choille, but I bet now that you can have a lie in tomorrow, you will be wide awake at silly o'clock in the morning
