don't go over doing it today, you don't want to be all aches and pains tomorrow,
The sand and aggregate around here comes from Dartmoor, so it's granite. Add a strong dose of cement and it's back to something close to the rock itself.Luckily, the rest of the house seems to have been built with different stuff.
I'm more pain-free than usual tonight, and that's after throwing a tonne of broken blocks into Pete's trailer for light relief. :rotfl:
But I clocked-off at 2.30pm, as friends were having a little get-together, where we met some of the new neighbours...and I did have a few drinks.:beer:
Some pleasant folk have come to live here in the last few months.
Our chicken is stuffed and we're going to stick it in the bottom of the Aga overnight. So, we'll either have wonderful, tender meat in the morning, or a burnt thing on a trivet!
Meat done the day before is usually nicer than something panic-cooked on the big day, alfie. For a start, you have more time to focus on the veg & trimmings.0 -
Hi All and a Merry Christmas.
Only managed to sell 9 turkeys and they have all been delivered. Its good to have the full brood back under one roof.
Hope you all have a good day tomorrow.

I bought a beef roast & we had that tonight with roast tatties, carrots, parsnips & it was wonderful & there's loads left to do us the next few days.
Loads of hail storms still & the wind is whistling but we are warm & cosy by the stove.
Have a lovely Christmas & don't overdo owt - including the dinner.0 -
Evening all, just popped in to say merry Crimbo to everyone, glad everyone's plans are all, well, going to plan!
Like some of you I got my dinner cooked tonight, shoulder of pork, bit of an obvious choice with a freezer load of it. Did a really long slow roast, it's only just finished but looks lush, might sneak a taste in a bit. Just the veggies to sort out tomorrow but there's enough to keep me going for a week!
I'll be glad of the break though, I've had such a hectic few weeks in the run up - making sure I'm stocked up has meant a few very busy days hauling trailers of straw, hay and feed around. And what with loads of xmas orders for all things piggy and hubby being home for two weeks, the month has literally flown by.
We also had an unplanned litter of piglets born a few weeks back, there was an escape mission some months back but I thought we'd got away with it! However it was a lovely surprise, mums a newbie but she's been great with a little help from me, she needed hormones to get the milk going and then got mastitis but the piggles are doing really well. I tried to work out how to link to my FB photo album but gave up, I will try and get some pics on here if I can make this iPad behave. I did manage to get a photo onto an xmas card online though, it is super cute!
Hasnt the weather been yuk?! Doesn't feel very festive, too warm, although there's a chill in the air tonight and colder tomorrow, so I'll be topping up bedding for everyone in the morning, once I've had my lie in and Buck's Fizz breakfast in bed that is!
Well must crack on, got one or maybe two rellies due Friday and haven't made their presents yet, or tidied or cleaned or made beds....!
Don't forget to put out Santas mince pie and sherry!0 -

bored now, everyone is watching 007, don't think much of the film...
on the news earlier it said there 'might' be a possibility of snow boxing day night..
Choille you food sounds wonderful, I love cooking more veg than we need, and eating for a few days.
right I want a wooden cooker hood style cover, so going to have a mooch around the inter-web.. ( that's how bored I am lol)Work to live= not live to work0 -

Finally arrived in Herne Hill (via Fulham for lunch nibbles with GS3's other Grandparents) today. We'd hoped to get here yesterday, but traffic on M6 was awful (one crash and one "incident") so after 4 hours of driving we arrived at the M40 Warwick services and booked a room. I'd got awful arm pain that I couldn't get comfy in car, and DH was coughing rather a lot. I think he was glad to stop off too. NOrmally we'd expect to reach Warwich 2-3 hours after leaving home. Over an hour of nose to tail slow slow slow driving really took its toll on both of us.
This morning the sun was shining, and it made it all much easier to complete journey. Listened to a hilarious thing on Radio 4 as we were completing our journey this morning, The Santaland Diaries, written by someone who got a job as an elf in Macy's New York. If you have a bit of time to listen (maybe while prepping veggies?) I highly recommend it. Real eye-opener as well as really funny. We ended up with an unexpected detour South of the river as the road we were supposed to turn left on was blocked off (we didn't pay for updates on the sat nav!) so we ended up going across Hammersmith Bridge, then back over Putney Bridge! :rotfl: Fun to see a bit more of the Thames though.NOt sure which bridge we finally used to get to final destination from Fulham. Think it might have been Putney again.
Very happy Christmas wishes to all Daydreamers. Hope you all have a great day with lots of fun, good food, and lots of super prezzies.
Love from Herne Hill!0 -
when you say wood ? do you mean you want to see wood or just made of wood and maybe painted ??:D
to paint.
the wall we are using tong and grove, the rayburn is going on that wall, so I thought maybe, we would not cover up the part where the rayburn is going, ( exposed stone) and and put a wooden cooker style hood there to hide the flue going out of the wall, to make it look like a false chimney if that makes sense..
will see if I can google some pics
why do you know of one???Work to live= not live to work0
