    Hello everyone :wave::wave:

    Well, I've finally got the magic £1,000 in savings:j

    It was down to moving to self-managed on our DMP and informing all predators they will only be getting token payments next month.

    The predators were all really good about it. I explained we had no fallback in case of emergencies.

    It feels very good to see that magic number in our savings account. I'm scared I'll need to use it now :rotfl:

    Evening all :D

    Pay day yesterday so popped £20 in to the EF. Bringing it to £420 so almost half way!! :D I've got another year and a half until I want to have it at full capacity so things are going well.

    Have an expensive year ahead with DD doing various guide trips and a little family holiday etc, plus saving up for another trip to Disney (hopefully next year)....still I'm trying to be sensible and not neglect the savings. Budgeted £120 for petrol last month but with the drop in prices etc I've ended up with £22.50 left over so that's going to go to the car tyres EF, that will put that up to £65 so almost half a tyre!! :eek: ;)

    I never used to 'do' savings but yesterday I tucked away almost £200!! Pretty impressed with that...wow...never actually added it up before!! What a difference MSE has made to my habits!! :money: We made £16 on interest today on all the money squirrelled away which has gone towards our Disney holiday. :T

    Keep up the good work peeps! Happy saving!! :p
    Saving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!

    totally agree with you mossy! last year my finances where a shambles and now i have everything organised, use a spreadsheet, have dedicated savings pots and an envelope system and i love seeing it all add up!!

    EF stands at £62, have started the penny a day challenge and this is going into the EF so if all goes well by december 2016 should have over £650 in there!

    The only thing I can't crack is the shopping budget!! :mad:

    I budget £200 per month, that's for DH, me and DD (11yrs). That's for everything including £2 canteen money each week (for lunch one day), DD takes packed lunches the rest of the time. I know that some people spend a lot less and some spend a lot more. I just can't seem to stick to it...it's driving me crazy!! :o

    As I leave work next August to study the last year of my degree full time, I really really need to get to grips with that last piece of the budget by then!! I've tried the grocery challenge, I've tried taking the money out in cash.

    I have started meal planning again and I've taken the money out in cash so maybe that will help, in the past we have spent so much popping to the shop because there's nothing out to have for dinner even though the freezer is normally well stocked!

    If anyone has any tips I'd appreciate them! ;) Now I have a focus for saving money again, maybe that will help and stop me overspending.
