More car trouble to report:mad:. Engaging gears has been very hit and miss for about a fortnight, not risking using it until it's sorted. Have been told it definitely isn't the clutch but might need a new (reconditioned/scrap in my case) gearbox:eek:. Not had an expert look at it yet (can't get it to a garage in it's current state) this is just what people have advised without seeing it. A guy OH knows who runs his own one-man repair business is calling round to see it tomorrow and if he can do the work I know it won't cost too much.

Have some money from selling stuff etc that I was planning to put in my EF but will hang onto it for now as it will probably be needed for the car work. Plus I'll have to take some more from my EF no doubt:(.

Cars!!! I hate 'em:mad:. I've been so relieved that my very old car has sailed through about 8 MOTs without even any advisories until this year (needed new rear exhaust) and has been very cost-effective over the years. This year, though, just about everything that can go wrong has done. Have to keep it going as live in a rural area with no public transport and absolutely no chance of replacing it for something newer. When I get my EF stabilised I might designate it as a 'new car' fund.

Have a good bank Holiday, everyone, despite the weather:beer:. Been bucketing down here since first-light this morning.

I love the idea of a payment a day and am wondering whether I could manage it. Trouble is, on many days it would just be a few pence:o

You'll reach the £1000 before you know it:beer:

    What's the FPU plan please?
  • Well .... been having a think re house insurance. I'm really struggling to find the extra £100 to pay it in full :(

My plan for this year was to get the car ins off d/debit & paid in full and then do the house ins next year (it's sooooo hard trying to save for them & pay them d/debit at the same time :o)

I'm also still £50 short for the house maintenance and haven't really got the car ins pot going too well yet :o (I was planning on working on this once the landline rental was paid this month)

I've checked the cost of paying the house ins d/debit and it's only an extra £12 over the year - and it's still £120 cheaper than the old ins would've been paid d/debit :T so I'm reasonably happy and think I'm going to revert to that plan!

The upside to this is I now have £65 'spare' :rotfl: that I'd scrimped together to try to pay the house ins

So, £15 added to the EF :T and the other £50 is sitting in my 'house & car - annual' account. It will either go to the house maintenance (if I've not got that all saved by the time it needs done) OR preferable start off my car ins pot!

    Baby steps :o
