MSE News: Morrisons to begin price matching Aldi and Lidl

When are Morrisons and Tesco going to realise that the public have seen through all their smoke and mirrors tricks and just want cheaper prices !
The Lidl ad in post #44 is a blinder !!!!!0 -
Have to spend £15 in a single shop for it to apply. No use for me as I usually do several small shops through the week.
I wondered about that when they gave me the leaflet and temporary card just now. It says about the £15 on one page but doesn't mention it in the terms and conditions small print so I am confused already.
All this will do, like most supermarket psychology, is get some people who were going to spend £12 to spend £3 extra in order to get 5p worth of points and see that as saving money. :rotfl:
My Morrisons is the closest supermarket to me and I don't drive, so I would use it anyway, only being able to carry a few bags I rarely spend more than £10 and I don't want to be on their database, but I can see that being asked "Do you have a Match and More card" every time I go is going to convince me to go the extra half mile to Lidl or get the bus to Asda...
Also any "savings" on this ridiculously complicated nonsense would be wiped out by the compulsory reduced item that goes through the till at full price.
This happens to me every other day, I check my receipt carefully before I leave the store, but I wonder how many people don't and end up paying £1.45 for a nearly stale loaf they thought they were getting for 19p...I'd rather they have spent the money sorting that out.
Pity, as I quite like shopping in Morrisons0 -

Well Morrisons are beginning to see the light.:A
Tesco's, well they can't even find £250 million, do you expect them giving us cheaper prices.:rotfl::rotfl:The more I live, the more I learn.

I'm not convinced by this at all. Totally in agreement with lidl.
I will only shop at Morrisons if I have a conditional spend voucher.
Why chance things comparing to Lidl on their scheme when you can simply go to Lidl.
They don't even stock the lovely unique things that Lidl sell either.
They will have to do better than that for my custom:A Every moment is a gift. That's why we call it the present.!:A

Like others I am not in the least interested in jumping through 5 hoops, collecting thousands of points, or the con of price matching and basically out of my way to get nominal reductions on shopping, I just want to simply buy what I need.. Nor do I want the loyalty nonsense with its marketing tracking and goodness knows what else for a few pence off. If there is a guaranteed sum off my shopping, fair enough, but most of the marketing and promotion is complicated and a waste of time IMO.
I, for one, want constant prices without any gizmos or gimmicks so I can choose where and when I want to shop quickly and simply so I can get on with the important things in life.
I wish MSE would get up a petition or something to combat these silly smokescreens and obstacles to shopping. After all we are the customers, but we are often treated especially by the BIG supermarkets like we are have to vie for their products! Wrong way around!
Many people may not like the :Lidl/Aldi way of doing things and that is fair enough, that is a matter of choice, personally it suits me down to the ground, simple and easy shopping at known prices (not a marketing minefield, I've heard the latest ridiculousness at my nearest football pitch sized Tesco has a feature on in store manicures and onesies, what utter claptrap for a grocery store!).
Moan over, but I thing savvy customers have had enough. It is just a pity there are some items I have to go to a big SM for.0 -
One thing struck me about this. Transparency or rather, lack thereof.
There's nowhere that I can see where you can enter your receipt details and see how they have arrived at their decision on the amount of points earned. (and then decide for yourself just how fair the whole thing is)
Could someone who has managed to participate in this help out at all? Is there a website you can check your receipt details? Or are you emailed a breakdown?
It's only a game

Thanks, so IF you get a slip from them, do you always check it yourself as well? Try to only ever buy what I KNOW is cheaper at each shop but never ever thought I'd need to double check it, but I guess you can't trust anyone these days!0
