How Morrisons is changing its 'Match & More' loyalty scheme
The supermarket will no longer match Asda, Sainbury’s, Tesco, Aldi and Lidl's prices. But it's promising shoppers will get more points
Morrisons is changing its Match & More loyalty rewards scheme and will no longer match other supermarkets’ prices.
The retailer currently promises to price match branded and own-brand goods from Asda, Sainbury’s, Tesco, Aldi and Lidl for purchases of £15 or more. If the total value of comparable products is cheaper elsewhere, shoppers receive the different in loyalty points at a rate of 10 points for every 1p difference.
In further evidence of the supermarket price wars, this offer will be scrapped from November 2.
Morrisons said shoppers will earn five loyalty points for every £1 they spend, but the minimum transaction will fall from £15 to £1. Drivers will still be able to earn 10 points per litre at the pump.
Once shoppers earn 5,000 points they will continue to receive a £5 voucher.
From November shoppers will also accrue points for spending in Morrison flowers shops, garden centres and pharmacies.
However, Match & More cards will not be accepted in M Local stores, which will no longer be owned by the supermarket chain.
Morrisons said it plans to change the name of the scheme but that any existing points that have built up on members’ accounts will remain valid after the changes are introduced.0 -

I personally feel this will not work out better. Although the vagueness of the price match I did collect a large number of points in very few visits. I have collected 2500 points in just 6 visits. My average spend would have been no more £20-25. So Id say i would have spent no more £100-£130 and have collected 2500 points. Now I will need to spend £500 to collect 2500.
Yes we didn't know how the points were collected but I am sure most would be better off points wise in the current system. The more points the better no matter how its collected.0 -

That's way too much for just £5. Just don't think its worth the hassle for just a fiver.0 -
I've been earning between 1500 and 5000 match points per weekly shop (£40-60 pound spend) and will now only earn 200-300 so they've completely removed any incentive for me to shop with them.0
