I never, and have no plans to, get a "Match and More" Card.

For me it is an absolutely worthless scheme - In an average year I maybe spend £15 in a shop once or twice and that is for special occasions (e.g. Christmas turkey) As I live alone just don't purchase in the quantities required to spend that much especially when you consider the choice of supermarkets and the extent of price competition right now. At least with the clubcard you get credit no matter how much you spend.

If anything I am less likely to shop in Morrisons as it is another screen to click through on the self serve checkout.

If Morrisons ever manage to get into on-line delivery shopping I'd probably shop there all the time. Have been in store a few times in recent months and have to say the prices and range of items seem better than Tesco and Asda (Morrisions was one of the few places where it was easy to find palm-oil free bread).

On a side note; I used to think Tesco and Asda were pretty much the same but somehow Tesco seems to have gotten more expensive. I don't know what other people have found. If it wasn't for the on-line discount codes I probably wouldn't shop at Tesco.

Just to update this. As i discovered a few months ago Morrisons did indeed start offering on-line shopping and delivering in my area. So it's all good!!!

Though they do seem very stingy with the money-off coupons. Haven't had one yet in several months. Even Tesco gave you the odd £6 off here and there.

  • Rumor has it that as of 2nd November they are changing the Match & More card. They will no longer price match, instead they will give 5 points for every pound you spend with no minimum spend limit. Still 5000 points needed for a £5 voucher. Petrol is unchanged.

I think this will work better. I find the vagueness of the Price Match really off-putting, and a few test purchases I made (further up the thread) were very unreliable in terms of accuracy of matching.

Score ! other supermarkets need to fall in line now or risk getting left behind. Reduce, reduce, reduce !!! bargain time.

Better than Sainsburys. There you spend £1000 to get 500pts. worth £2.50!

Yes. Petrol points are more generous - 10 points per litre, so about £535 spend for £5 back.

As they are no longer matching prices against comparable shopping with other supermarkets, they should be made to change the name of the card, Match and More doesn't cut it anymore.
