Forgot to mention OP:
In 15 years time, you will still fancy women aged 25...
Just a few more words of wisdom from your future self...0 -
I don't know why you don't give up on dating, since British woman are so awful,l and invest in an inflatable girlfriend and a puncture repair kit.
No, I'm not saying British women are awful.
I'm saying our Western culture has reduced the role and importance of the family.
People now look to the state for support, more than their families.
Some will think this is a good thing, others not.
But my point is be aware that there are other ways of doing things.
And if I thought British women were that bad, I would simply emigrate.0 -

PS: In other countries, it's more often the daughters who stay in the family house. But if they marry, their husbands will be expected to move in with them.
Have you travelled much outside Europe?0 -

Yes I've travelled and worked extensively outside of Europe.0 -

In some countries outside Europe women wouldn't be allowed to work even if they wanted to... Personally I think it's much better to be able to live how you want to rather than live in a way that's expected of you.0

To the OP, just live your life the way you want to ... if YOU want to move out, then find a house share, get some autonomy. If YOU would rather stay with your parents and this suits them, then stay at home, help with their house and save for a deposit/etc ... if YOU want to earn more for yourself, then perhaps consider evening classes or further education. If YOU are happy on lower salary then don't worry about it and meet a girl who isn't worried about it either.
If you meet the right person before you've made any big decision you might find pooling finances makes a lot of sense as well. Neither OH nor I had much when we first met. He was in debt, I lived on the breadline ... We moved in together, had a budget book and kept track of everything. Paid off his debts first then used the equivalent sum of money for "luxuries" (which were really just things like nicer ingredients) ... and save what we could. He went to college, I continued by education ... Fast forward 12 years we have a little house, we still don't earn a fortune but it sure feels like it compared to the old days for us. Things change as you grow older. Fwiw we met when we were in your age group .. and we really didn't have a clue at that point.0 -
Nothing is stopping you increasing your income, focus on your career for the time being. Work hard and keep an eye out for opportunities, most importantly make sure you take any opportunities which present themselves to you.0

You need to think about increasing your earnings now.
Because as you get older, the girls you date will become more interested in how much money you have and less interested in how "cool" / good looking you are etc.
I find this rather stereotyping and a tad offensive. I am female, I have no interest in having children. I equally don't care how much money someone has, in fact I earn a very good wage myself.Cautious_Optimist wrote: »It sounds as if you may have narrow horizons or lack ambition.
Who do you mix with socially? What line of work are they in?
Perhaps you should look at chatting to some [STRIKE]guys [/STRIKE] people with more life experience..?Cautious_Optimist wrote: »And don't take advice from those people (often women) who think life is all about a couple of kids and a Saturday afternoon looking around B&Q...
@OP:
You need to decide what you want from life. I moved out at 17, I have traveled across the globe (some leisure/some business) and yes at 17 whilst studying 2 days a week, I also held down 3 jobs including weekend jobs but I still had a social life and I knew it wouldn't last forever.
On 1000 pounds a month you could live as a lodger (rent a room) and start standing on your own two feet.
Just wondering if you are just worried/scared of leaving the relative safety of the parents home? And why would you need a 2 bed flat now? A studio would do too unless you obviously are already expecting a baby?LBM 11/2009 Total Debts 11/2009 £44624 with DFD 2015
