I received my long awaited free pitcher today. I know a lot of people were disappointed to not get the right e-mail saying congratulations you have won but perhaps they will not be too upset when I tell them it arrived completely smashed. it was impossible to tell if it would have been lovely but it came in a nice box with one piece of bubble wrap protecting the glass inside and then just a plain carboard wrapping. It did not say fragile on ( not that that would make much difference to the mail ). the postman commented " something rattling around in there ". That was an understatement. I have sent an e-mail to Grand Marnier but do not hold out much hope for a replacement and if it did come would probably be broken again. just thought I would cheer up the people who didn't get one.0

Hi there!
Phoned home to see if mine had arrived. It had! Got DH to unpack it and report on condition.
In one piece BUT he says it has obviously been bashed around the handle area as several cracks are emanating from where the handle joins the body of the pitcher. So as soon as it is filled with liquid, he reckons the handle would crack off.
He says it was fairly well packed in a couple of bits of bubble wrap and quite a well-fitting box, but obviously that did not defeat the Post Office. As tricia2673 says, no 'fragile' sticker (although that would maybe have made it even more fun for the posties to throw around)
Oh well, maybe it will look good as an ornament if the cracks are not too obvious??

Just to let you guys know, i got my pitcher this morning - IN ONE PIECE!!!!! :j :T :j
I am amazed! It was wrapped in a few pieces of bubble wrap in its Grand Marnier box and then put in another cardboard box.

When mine was sent "Special Delivery before 1pm", it wasn't marked "Fragile", but there was enough bubble wrap around the pitcher's box to mummify half my relatives, plus all of that was in another box which was quite a strong one. I wouldn't be surprised if the ones that have arrived smashed are the ones dispatched by normal Royal Mail delivery about a week or so ago, the ones that were far more hastily packed to get them out asap.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."
