Calling - get off the naughty step! No need to put yourself there! Especially as it sounds like you will get the money back as gifts.

(I have the circus, Legoland and a day trip to London this month!! So I should probably reserve my own spot there now!)

Calling/Apple while we are confessing, I'm off home to stay with mum a week but planning on shopping/eating out while there and also need to get all Xmas presents sorted/wrapped before I go! It is all pre-budgeted but will be expensive this month. Relying on you guys to keep my teeny weeny groceries budget on track and stop me spending unnecessarily!

    Evening all

Hopefully this challenge will get me moving out of the rut i've found myself stuck and time to get off the merry-go-round.

Starting this challenge with a DFD of 1st April'15 (fools day seems fitting :D)
Im self employed so have a limited regular income so will need to yoga the pennies further than ever.

Lucky October is a uneventful month so nothing to stand in my way, we are gaining a addition to the household ( bringing us to 5) as DS1 girlfriend is officially moving in, but it's to my benefit as she here more than her home and will be throwing some keep my way.

Over September I kept a record of how much we spent  im setting this months food budget at £300 looking to reduce this next month with 14 NSD (softly catch a monkey) I have my first NSD in the bag :j
Now to have a wander and a throw out, good luck everyone

Lol-I just was about to type congratulations. I thought the new addition was because your pregnant :o:D Well I have a NSD to declare here too, so glad with that and aim to do some exercise today. This month will be hard financially. The Spend credit card took a right battering last month and needs to be paid on the 12th. I aim for next months to be a lot loss, so will keep myself to myself this month-not that I'm a social animal anyway, lol!

    Evening all,
Have planned my budget and this month decided to add it to my signature as couldn't keep track when I was putting it in my posts. Congrats on final debt payment Abundant, bet it's a brilliant feeling! And so glad you're going to see your family Lilt, hope your mum doing okay.

Today was not a SFD as got stocked up with food, petrol and odds and sods ready for new month - meal plans done too and don't anticipate I'll need to spend too much more on food, just top ups for lunches, fresh fruit & veg and staples, hopefully. The amount we spend in this house on food is borderline obscene - can't even say it gets wasted, all disappears, but two almost teen DS's seem to have hollow legs!!

Thanks for challenge, Applemuncher, think it's going to be just as good as Mothernerd's - must try harder to stick to it, have YNAB'd it all and even got some money tucked away for Xmas so fingers crossed I'll at least be closer to targets at the end of this month.

    August NSD Challenge 3/10
  • Hi everyone!

Very excited for the start of the October challenge. Had a bad end to September, as a family emergency took me up to Edinburgh for a few days, so lots of unbudgeted spending and petrol, but have WAM'd to cope and looking for a frugal october. Aim between now and the 15th when I get paid is to spend as little as humanly possible - I have batch cooked and filled the freezer, so I'd like to get as many NSDs in as possible this month, can't wait for my first debt free salary on 15th October so I can start filling my savings pots.

Sorry I was absent for the last couple of days of September - mother nerd, I really enjoyed the challenge and weekly posts, as well as all the companionship, so thank you for running such a great thread!

Applemuncher, I love the triathlon challenge and am looking forward to getting started - also excusing myself from the lycra.
Proud to be debt free September 2014. :j

    Debt-free and Proud!
I spent £1 on parking today, so not an NSD for me unfortunately

Tomorrow should be, though, and having to work this Saturday will at least prevent me from spending! Got to see the positives!!

Have my month's budget in a spreadsheet and all prepared for my first challenge :j

    Woo hoo, we're off!

    * S - Stick to lists / budgets: lists written and budgets set.
    * W - Waste nothing - the rest of the garden glut is to be used up and freezer cleared to help with stretching the frugal food funds!
    * I - Have identified getting back to doing my Pilates DVD 12 times over October (approx 3 x per week) as a means to switch off some of the stress ... I can focus on this as a no spend way to get fit and help with my quest to drop a dress size before Christmas (my weight and lack of fitness are a source of frustration & therefore stress).
    * M - Me time, yup gonna have me a home made spa session (ie: take over the bathroom) at least once a week (but don't worry, I'll still shower in between)!
    * B - Budgets set ... going to try to bring the grocery budget in at under £90 in October.
    * I - Improve money saving ... have freed up a holding purse for unspent cash from budgets and organised a new savings account for Christmas saving (hopefully have the contents of my sealed pot to add to this next month)!
    * K - Kick debt ... have allocated funds to paying up the stoozy CC and Mr. Hbbb's overdraft.
    * E - Every spend logged, yup space has been ruled off in daily diary for logging spends.
    * R - £5 food bank donation. Have a personal variation on this as I have a friend who is having a very difficult time and has very little cash even for basics from week to week. I will use the food bank funds to buy bits for her for a Christmas hamper, so she has something special to look forward to. Every time I do some grocery shopping for us I will get something for her too.
    * U - Toiletry use up - 31 items ready for this ... end of a shampoo from goodness knows when used up this morning, so 1/31 so far.
    * N - NSD, managed this today so 1 / 16 so far.

Phew, I promise not to write this much each time, these are just to outline my basic aims for the month, I'll update from here as we go. Thanks A*M :T
