  • really enjoyed been part of this thread thanks applemuncher. Learnt lots 0f ways to save money and so far by looking at our direct debits and altering them we've managed to save £875 ayear.:j:j:j:j:j. Can't believe we've not done it earlier, these companies must rub their hands with glee when people don't compare prices and just go with automatic renewal:mad:.Starting to look at our daily spends now.:T. Ready for November.

soa - ir would be good if you could prep Nov, for if we don't hear from crazylady. Thank you!

My November focus MUST be on reducing what I spend on food shops. I have to return to Cornwall for my uncle's thanksgiving service, and possibly pay for overnight accommodation too (didn't have to last time). So need to have enough money for that.

We have minimal freezer space, as dd's prescription bread fills 75% of it every few weeks, leaving v little space for other stuff! So I guess we'llhave to eat fresh! And plan meals!!

    Have a good day - martin's email's out today - yippee!

Thanks Applemuncher for the October thread and thanks SOA for stepping in to do November.

I think I will totally batten down the hatches again in November so that I have then more leeway in December. This month was my first challenge in over 6 months after maternity leave and it was a right eyeopener. Plus it was great to be part of this wee community again.

Today should be an SFD, otherwise not much to report.

    Have a nice day

Glad to see November challenge is going to be on.Thanks Soa,
Be joining Thifty in battening down the hatches as done awful this month.

Yesterday did a xmas shop - sainbobs nightwear with 25% kids sorted.
Pleased with how far my pennies went.

Unfortunately took my groupon voucher to M & S didn't realise there was 2nd stage in the activation code process so ended up spending cash on food. Grr nevermind, voucher activated and saved for xmas foody bits.

Today SFD no money to spend put last ten pounds to pay off credit cards.

Applemuncher can we stop running soon, legs tired. Thanks for this month good of you to give up your time to run it.

The running will be over soon, Calling! Or you can jump onto the bed with mothernerd and I'll push! Thank you for all the thanks for October - it's been fun!

I'm officially on the naughty step. Food budget. Blown to smithereens. Not gone this far over before. Had the car (yes, it is fully functional once more :j) so bought a LOT from aldee. Came to £61, after the £5 off voucher, which is a mega spend for me:D.

However, we have enough veg to start a market stall, so no excuse not to eat well!

And whilst I'm confessing... Got dd a denim dress and some GAP pink trousers and 2 Rainb0w Mag1c books all for £5 in a charity shop. I'm trying to ensure I buy her things for her to grow into, as pretty soon she'll be at the age where there are fewer clothes given to ch shops.

    Off to update the signature...

  • Hi again guys.

Quick lunchtime update as I have an eyewatering amount of posts to catch up on. Back at work today, no rest for the wicked and my to do list is mammoth. Even my boss keeps looking at me with a mixture of pity and panic... Lol

So... an update on Nottingham. I have a sheaf of receipts a mile long for YNAB, but... 3 SFD's to add to my total... :D that includes today mind ;) so I think I have just made that target. Everything else went out of the water entirely. Still way under budget on Christmas and only 4 presents left to buy, totalling maximum £60 so have come in way under budget on that.

I am joining November. I don't care if it is themeless, so long as it has SFD's target and I can put in a grocery budget ;) I think I will aim for 5 SFD's more than whatever we are told hahaha! I don't honestly know what my Christmas/emergency/savings pots look like until I get home and get it sorted, plus get a refund from old gas/electric/ I am working on the basis that it is very bad indeed, since I have leaked £500 this month from beginning to end from that account. So paring everything back and living off the cupboards definitely overdue. At least mum filled up my sweetie treaty cupboard ;)

See you later on, or tomorrow when I finally catch my breath. Still running, but only if you stare very hard ;)

  • Just want to add my thanks to Applemuncher for this month's splendid Triathlon challenge, have enjoyed it, stayed (mostly) within budget, and gave me the kick up the bum I needed to investigate career options......... And I'm with Lilt with joining November, themed or no, hopefully if Crazy_Lady unable to do it then sure SOA's kind offer will provide motivation for November.

Lilt, seems like you had a good time at home, even if it's manic now you're back! Hope all went well and your mum doing okay - sure she's much better for seeing you and Jelly, and glad you got to say goodbye to your pop.

So, a SFD planned today - popped into Mr T's on the way home from work after already having dragged DS's around there in the afternoon, as forgot deodorant and didn't want to waste a SFD on it today. Have done dumbbell exercise routine, had 10 min walk to postbox and off to give blood later, but dinner sorted from freezer (benefit of batch cooking) and should be able to rustle up something for tomorrow night too.....

Have spent £60 or so on food and (necessary) toiletries, but will come off next month's budget as I got paid yesterday so all budgets reset. Looking forward to starting a shiny new month!
