Hello chickadees... just want to drop in and tell Abundant I am so proud of him!!! Big WHOOP!! x x x“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0

Hello All
CONGRATULATIONS abundant !!!!:beer: I am so pleased for you. :j:j
Past few days have been spendy.
My wages went into the bank and it has cleared the overdraft (too ashamed to write the figure).
My Joint account card has now been put in a draw at home so I don't use they joint account for anything as it is purely for bills. OH wages should be in the bank in the next few days so can sort the rest of the finances out.
Looking forward to the November challenge.
Thank you Applemuncher for a great thread it's been ace:T:T

Congratulations Abundant, that's great news!
SFD today, have done a few hours in work as will be tricky to get in over half term due to childcare issues. DH cooked lovely dinner by the time I got home, now sitting down with a glass of wine as know I don't have to go into work in the morning.#21 Save £12k in 2025 £16977.35/£20000

Congratulations abundant.
A quiet day for me. Very tired. Managed to clean the bathroom last night, it's beautiful - until DS3 gets home. Went under the attic stairs to clear all the rubble (not really but it's nearer rubble than normal dust, had a fistful of stuff I didn't want Henry to eat).
Went to the other house, rinsed load of glasses, threw some cups and plates into a binbag - very sorry, not environmentally friendly but the cups had liquid in that had gone solid and the plates had ?cereal?/ and/or greasy stuff that has been there for four weeks and no hot water until the new boiler is installed.
Put one rug (used three rubble sacks, one each end and one with the end cut off to make a tube for the middle) and two tv tables (one had been covered in glasses) outside but it was depressing. Got a taxi back as I had waited a long time for the bus and still no sign. Taxi driver was playing Billy Idol and he sang along, which cheered me up.
Having a bit of a wobble day - what is it with the men in my family. left a message to see if my brother would drive the moving van (not hopeful but also asked if he would be in if I could get 'his' couch delivered). Not even bothered to phone me back. Expecting DS3 to go into hibernation to recover if he has been up all night having fun at convention. DS2 still doing nothing to sort his mess.
Lovely DS1 phoned to say he had got his days muddled but still coming on day off Thursday and Saturday if that is moving day. Frustrated by my own limitations. Tomorrow will be better. More freebies left the house and another being collected tomorrow. Also am hungry, all the time and not always eating the right things (though some can be excused as am working my way through the freezer).
Have a peaceful night turtles and many thanks to applemuncher for the lovely thread, it's been very exciting. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Morning all,
Congratulations Abundant! Please tell me, how amazing does it feels to be debt free?
Mothernerd keep going, you are doing a fantastic job and remember to give DS1 a big hug for being so helpful.
I also love snuggling up in winter however right now I'm loving the Spanish winter weather (25 degrees and clear blue skies!). I haven't been very MSE today as bought a £3 data bundle for my phone so I could check on flight details for return flight. I was in such a rush coming away that I knew what day I was coming home but had no idea of the time!
So far within holiday budget so three more SFDs including today. OH is doing his usual and spending without considering his own budget however he's gone off to golf today so im having a few quiet hours on the beach

Good morning,
spend wise this weekend was a disaster . Bought two steak pies at the butchers (£17:eek:) because we couldn't be bothered making them for friends coming for dinner. Went to Tesco instead of LIDL or Aldi and stuck the 50 quid (monkfish and cat food were a tenner each alone) on my credit card :mad:. Then yesterday got the first few items to makes DS spider costume in primark for 7.50. And still forgot to get coffee and butter.....
Will need to look soon for tickets for FIL's christmas too, the spending just never stops, I hate it. Most things were not even avoidable, like certain food, cat food, primark.....
Decided to go on a wee health trip till christmas, no more booze or sneaking the occasional rollie. Also can't wait for Friday to draw a line under this horrendous month, learn form this months failings and start afresh.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Well, to take action I made/adjusted my budgets for the next few months. My plan is to only pay off £50 a month off my CC, thereby freeing up money to put in the christmas fund (some presents, we might go without, food for entertaining) while minimising interest. Atm the bill is £190 but I will need to add a flight to Germany soon. I'll pay the wedding debt off at a slightly slower rate too but want to have paid of 70% with the March pay cheque. And by March I want to have reached 70% of our emergency savings target of 1k (not just for emergencies, need new front door etc.)
From January I will also start saving 50 quid a month again into a christmas/MOT/car service savings account to have 600 quid for those as they are roughly the same time.
I also got £42 in tesco vouchers which will go towards christmas.
So now I feel better, my numbers in my spreadsheet seem a bit more realistic now. It all means a bit of compromise i.e. paying off debt a bit slower but putting money aside for christmas etc rather than just constantly borrowing from other places if that makes sense, does to me. Also in November I will keep a much closer eye on grocery spends etc. Next weekend I might take a well planned shopping list to Aldi and stock up so that I really just need to pop out for fresh milk, fruit and breat thereafter. Or should I rather order a large home delivery from Tesco or Asda and thereby I am more likely to stick to my list and still see special offers for the things I need better?
Better get back to work nowDEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250
