  • Hi everyone

Sorry i have been MIA, work has been really busy and i have been thinking about a lot of things trying to get my head together.

I have managed one SFD this week and another gym session.

Overdraft is shocking so we will be living on a minimal budget next month.

Hugs to all that need them and I will check in tomorrow

    Night all xxx

    Hi again guys

Back from hols. Managed on £100... mainly spent on lush cocktails and slices of pizza :rotfl: Have started back on the diet today...

Won't be possible to hit my NSD target of 16, but I'll try and come pretty close. Even though I've spent over my budget, doing my first challenge has made me really aware of my spending and how much I actually over-spend on unnecessary items every month. I've just got to be a bit more realistic with my budget next time!

We are a feisty bunch! Go girls (and abundant!)!

A costly month may cost even more, as the car decided to discharge all leccy this morning and only start by being bump started. Not a good start for the long-awaited trip to Legoland! However, once tomorrow is over (dd has tap and ballet so we'll need to get a bus and 2 trams each way) we can easily manage. Just as well dh has taken the week off work! :D

    Morning all

Just waiting for our delayed flight atm so logged onto free wifi and thought I'd pop in. Spendy 24 hours - petrol, sweets for journey, dinner at services due to traffic on motorway, parking at hotel, breakfast in airport and cigarettes to try calm OH whilst we're delayed!

Hoping to come in under budget for the holiday as I've bought spending money but hopefully it'll just be used for ice creams and I'll bring the rest home. Have a good week everyone :)

  • Happy saturday everyone! Can't believe we're into the last week of October and the clocks are going back already; feels like July was about 5 minutes ago. Spent yesterday filling freezer with meals to last me till pay day on the 15th, today is a study day and tomorrow I'm hoping to clean. Manic week next week - out every single night and have two meals out, so will try not to spend loads! NSD today and I'm hoping to get lunches for the week out of a tesco voucher I have tomorrow, so maybe then as well.

    NSDs: 10/16
    Petrol (till 15th Nov) £40.61/£60
    Groceries (till 15th Nov) £39.52/ £150
    Exercise 12/ 20
Proud to be debt free September 2014. :j

I feel the same, I can't believe we are changing the clocks. I love winter, I know that may seem odd but I do love a bit of weather, I love bare trees and frozen landscapes and fog and cold air which totally envelops you when you go out, I love boots and thick jumpers, fluffy socks and pj's, hot chocolate and gingerbread lattes and a million other things.

I may need to buy a new pair of opaque tights today, I have one pair of black ones but they are only suitable for wearing with boots. I may wait a bit and have another look in my drawers as I'm sure I had a lovely patterned pair.

    Morning All,

Sorry I seem to have lost it this month. Everything seems a little blurgh at the moment (couldn't think of another word for it).

Work is busy as I am currently traing someone to do my job. This in itself is tiring but made all the more difficult as if they had not moved the goalposts I would currently be in the middle of 2 weeks off before starting the new phase in our lives. Now I have to work another 4 weeks then plunge straight into the new phase

On the plus side it is only 4 more weeks and that's extra money in the pot and I am really excited to get stuck into the property refurb.

Lost track of budgets and SFD's but as I still have money in the bank and payday is Tuesday I must be doing OK.

I think I need to spend the weekend going through my food stores and meal planning as I should have more than enough to cover meals until at least half way though November. I will need to get a few veggies and milk, bread etc. Have the latest Aldi voucher to use by next Thursday so will plan a shop to use this up and stock up on the bits I need. If I don't need to spend the required amount I will add in a couple of items to put away for Christmas.

Had a little result last week. Went shopping at Costco for some essentials. Was very good only spent just over £35. Included in this was a pack of 45 Liquitabs. When I opened the pack it looked a little empty so I counted them and found it only had 31. Phoned the manufacturer who apologised profusely and offered a full refund into my account. As I didn't have the receipt with me he went online to get the price and rounded it up to the next £ so a £13 refund. When I checked my receipt I had got a discount and after adding on the VAT the pack had cost me under £8 :j

Hope everyone has a great weekend

  • Hi all,

Have been having lots of problems with my laptop again over the last few days. It appears to be working at the moment, so I must apologise for another absence! On a positive, I received my first pay packet from new job yesterday (7 weeks worth), couldn't have come sooner! Can finally have a more predictable budget and get back on track with everything! Hope you are all doing well- yay for the weekend! I will catch up on posts and up date stats soon! xx

I'm with you on that Dolly, love it all except when it rains for days on end. Even prefer exercising outdoors in the winter, rain or no.

Have only managed to scan most of posts - will go back and read them properly in a bit - but have to say some of your exes sound like horrors- then again, suppose that's why they're exes.....!

Mothernerd, think you're right to delay if you can - the whole thing will be less stressful if you're able to get all your ducks in a row first, and your recovery should be a little easier as a result. Hope you manage to get it sorted.

Today is not a SFD as have meal with friends tonight, but have money already budgeted in an envelope for it - knew it was planned from start of the month so not like it was a surprise, but in the past I would still have been behaving like it was and would have probably ended up putting it on the cc this close to payday.

And continuing the "my DH's not all bad" theme of some of my previous posts, he's filling up my car with petrol this afternoon in payback for all the times he borrows it instead of using his own (he's got a nice car, mine is the family runaround, ravaged by years of muddy football boots and worse), meaning I've saved the last £25 I budgeted for petrol this month, plus a chunk of next month's budget. It was his idea too, didn't even ask.

Have a good weekend everyone, off to catch up properly on the last day's posts now.

  • Crumbs, it looks like it's been a bit of a spendy month for the Turtles from what I have been reading? Coffee stops, work lunches etc... The woes of busy turtles! Work and seminars would definitely require some form of caffeine to keep the mind awake!

thrifty- Very thought provoking post regarding attitude to life. Thank you for sharing. :)

traveller- superb on your £1 a day savings going towards your daughters 18th! It must feel quite liberating! It certainly feels more rewarding when you've kept up with putting a little bit away to be able to provide such a wonderful experience for your daughter. :)

mothernerd - Great to hear that your operation was offered fairly quickly, however I think your OT has given sound advise with their recommendations to postpone for several weeks. You have so much going on!

Abundant- Surely it must be nearly DFD for you??!!!! *Excited for you!*

I'm up to 13 SFD's Hoping I can squeeze those last 3 in before the end of the month! I have got a lot of money reviewing to do over the weekend. But I am actually allocating a small amount of my wages for some leisure spends for today! I have worked my bottom off the last 7 weeks and feel that I need a lil reward this weekend as I have been pretty tough on myself financially, which on the most part is because I have had to have been.

Hope you all have a fine weekend. I too am enjoying the season change. Although I am a huge fan of Spring/Summer, I really do like Autumn, I do find Winter to be a difficult one to muddle through- such short days- getting up and coming home in the dark, but like others who have shared inspirational positives to focus on, I will look for the small things (hot chocs, warm fires, fluffy pjs etc..) to focus on to keep trooping on through!
