    Evening all :)

    Hump day is officially over!

apple muncher- Thank you so much for running the thread this month, you have done a super job!! I am still up for running January's thread, may be we could set up another voluntary section to cover the next few months for NST thread leaders?

I have hit 15sfds and hope to scoop up another tomorrow! I doubt that I will obtain another on the 31st owing to Halloween parties galore! Very busy weekend ahead so I think I best get cracking on my November spreadsheet this evening!

Hope you are all having some you time this eve! I am wearing my fluffiest pjs, drinking a fudge c@dburys hot choccie and watching Footloose on TV! Cheers!

Quick check in from me, not long got in from a 12 hour shift and a Te$co shop of yellow stickered goodies! Not sure if that counts as a SFD or not!

Thankyou Apple for a splendid challenge :j In agreement with Lilt and Caerau Im happy to go unthemed for November, as long as there is a turtlethon place for us to meet to put the world to rights, that is all that matters

    Sleep well folks

PhoeniX - if it was ALL yellow stickered, then you have preserved an NSD!

Loveadove -'well done on 15 NSDs!

SOA - if it's too short notice to do Nov, just say, and I can do it, and you can stay with your original month (was it Feb?).

This month I have really neglected my grateful lists. Therefore, today I am grateful for getting so much food for my money at aldee, for dh making the car all better, for dd and her friend playing for hours together, for free prescriptions (for dd), for a robin popping into our garden.

Spent lots of money on bus fares, today. Painted back of bathroom door (DS3 still away so hoping it's dry before he and DS1 get here tomorrow) and touched up the bottom of the cupboard - smudged the black I used to cover the carpet fitter's !!!! up (they left the old 'wood' colour edging strip which was very tatty and stuck out like a sore thumb in the all black and white bathroom).

Made an appointment with a 'buy your house for cash' company, someone will look at both houses on Monday. This is just an option, not going to take a ridiculous amount or fall for any hard-sell. If I don't like the price for this house I should be ready to hand over to the Estate Agent. Would like a figure for the little house as suspect it will end up going to a landlord (most of the town centre terraces are now rental property).

My brother will drive the van, picked one I like (larger one with automatic tail gate which should cut out a lot of work and whining) but need to phone tomorrow for availability and see what documentation needed/ hire times (baby bro is like DS3, prefers to wake around 7pm and stay up all night).

Took a bag to the 'crafty' charity shop - they have knitters and card-makers and I sometimes get sewing/ embroidery bits there (lots of snowmen teapot cosies in the window but I don't have a teapot).

Continued on to mum's (bought a pastie, must add to total after, using what's left in the freezer is getting difficult and I hadn't had anything warm all day) but was given tea. Mum is not going to let me repay the recent borrowings, wants me to tot it up so that she can give my brother the same and she also mentioned Christmas money (she usually pays for my brother's tv licence so I have a rough idea what I will be getting but I had decided not to count on getting anything as she has already lent me money). But if I get Christmas money, DS3 keeps giving me advance rent when his patron pays him and DS2 coughs up some of the money he owes me, we might just squeak through the next few months (will try to kickstart the business via the internet whilst convalescing).

Another worry dealt with. Mum recently went back to the 'partner's house could be made nice' stance (thought I'd squashed that months ago - it's a mess). She had been musing on how his house could be improved (he's currently getting money from here, there and everywhere) but his DS3 had already kicked the idea in touch - no easy, simple or cheap solution and neither of them could survive the building site conditions required. Thanks A, something else I can tick off my many lists (far quicker, easier conversation than I had been expecting).

So list written for tomorrow - must add fixing this Bxx***g E!!!$*ing Laptop, driving me up the wall - been on half a dozen times today and writing this has taken longer than the total usage for today so far.

Have a lovely Friday and weekend turtles, so glad applemuncher has been pushing this bed. not added to de-clutter total but got rid of at least 5 waste baskets of paperwork yesterday and free items are still going - lady knocked on the door to see if she could have some of the small plant pots today, gave her the whole box (wont be doing much at the start of next years growing season and anything I buy will come in a small plant pot, have kept the larger ones).
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

Apple we could always do a November Triathlon and follow the same principles if its too short notice maybe? Just a thought anyway...
And thankyou for rescuing another SFD :D

I think the first ever challenge I did was Kat's batten down the hatches Nov 2012 (?) Challenge.

Just finished DS Halloween costume, he better likes it, lol. But can't get the googly eyes to stick to the hat. The plastic in the back of them doesn't stick with anything. Tried glue, super glue, double sided sticky tape. Mmmhhh?

Anyway, off to the land of zzzzzzzz. Night night busy bees

    Good evening.

I am still here. Worked an extra shift (well half shift) to try and get some extra moneys. Currently working my shifts which are hard going.
    :(

On the plus side... too tired to spend any money and too busy to eat much so diet and money saving going well (not that we had any money to spend).
    :o

Got my fingers burned today which was a hard lesson to learn. One of my colleagues was leaving and they had an afternoon tea. We had to pay £7 to attend. I paid my £7 only to find I couldn't go as it was so busy. My other colleagues (who weren't working) then took everything home with them so the four of us who paid our money but were working got a grand total of 7 sandwiches between us, and about 15 cakes with the comments "save some for the nightshift" as they all walked out the door with their plates piled high.
Lesson learned. Won't be wasting another £7 on that. I wouldn't have minded if they had said to us they were dividing up the cakes and stuff and asked if we wanted to come and collect some stuff to eat. I paid £7 for four cakes. And the worst thing was that they were the cakes my mum had made for the bl**dy thing.
    :(

My mum says that I should ask for my money back but I feel too embarassed to do that. The girl who made the afternoon tea did all that hard work and bought everything (including salmon for sandwiches). I think I am just a bit disappointed. Anyways, lesson learned... if I am working then I'm not going/paying. It's not worth the money.
    :undecided

Erm... I am working tomorrow and Friday so if I miss the start of the new challenge, please include me. I need to get back on the bike so to speak.
    :o

    Hugs to every wee turtle.

  • Hi Everyone!

I'm happy to do November (with theme!) Will put up tomorrow if that's ok with everyone, as am at Uni tonight.... watch this space! Apologies it'll be a little bit late, but we still have two days of running left a la Applemuncher's excellent October challenge, so hopefully that will keep us busy in the meantime. (and in my case, knackered - I'm not a natural runner :) )

Any particular requests for next month, let me know...

  • And also, checking in as I was a bad turtle and didn't yesterday... had to WAM a bit with my petrol budget, but took it out of spending money and am waiting for an Amazon transfer anyway, so all good from that point of view. Lovely pub meal with a friend, only came to £15 each for two courses, so that was good and generally nice day. SFD today other than car parking and tomorrow should be too.

    NSDs: 13/16
