    Big hugs lilt.

Should be a NSD as I am not planning to leave the house. Gone round inspecting my filling and rubbed down/ topped up as appropriate (found an extra hole:eek:). Hope this does it as only a tiny scraping left in the bottom of the container (keep covering it in plastic so it doesn't dry out).

Now back on the bed with celery sticks. Charging laptop and phone (had to ask DS3 as plug is now under bed, he's given me an extension lead so I can take them in and out without having to go to floor level - so I now have an extension lead to the plug which replaced the plug with an extension lead, at least it is in my room rather than coming through the wall into my room).

Will rest then tackle touch up painting in dining room (over cracks, around new fireplace and any other scratches) hoping there will be enough paint left to do bottom half of tiny understairs toilet (mr builder fixed the toilet/outdoor leak while I was at the hospital on Monday) and put lining paper on the attic stair walls (less than one full wall, really as it's only 2 triangles and there is a picture rail so lots of small pieces - no wrangling).

I too love the spirit of the Jenny Joseph poem - I'm not a purple person and am careful with red (every so often, when I am at my thinnest and happiest I get a longing for a red dress, but cherry or vermillion not post box). I have a red heavy silk scarf that I bought 'to cheer myself up' when I was in a slump. It has a deep silky fringe and embroidery in black.

I was on my uni course at the time (me and 4 boys) and on the Monday I wore the other comfort one (bought two at the monthly craft market). That was multi pinks and purples (more violet not deep but not girly pastel) interwoven soft wool. One of the boys commented and then queried my designation of the other one as a 'luxury', so I had to take that one in to show them. As my best jacket was (still is) a black embossed fabric and most of my clothes are black, the red scarf cheers it up without overwhelming me (you can only pretend so far). They count as two of my 'portable rainbows'.

I also use bangles (don't wear jewellery a lot so really notice every time they move up and down my arm - then I think of something happy or positive) and I have a little wooden elephant keyring (decorated for an Indian celebration) which I put through the lowest buttonhole on my cardigan (again so it hits my leg every time I take a step, so think of something happy). I did mention the portable rainbow on this thread, didn't I, otherwise I will feel daft.

It started when I was doing voluntary work in the city to fulfill the 'work experience' requirement of my course. One day coming back on the bus, with a fully laden (65 litre) rucksack, had to stand all the way, in rush hour traffic and it was the most horrible grey, overcast, lashing it down day. Stuck in the middle of the motorway then all of a sudden this enormous rainbow appeared, arcing over us, visible on both sides of the bus and I thought "What I need is a portable rainbow", so I started to look for things that worked.

I'll go back to resting now, give someone else a chance.:rotfl:

Been to the shops and spend on formula (-1.67 money off voucher) in Tesco and 4.45 in Lidls. Cancelled my order for my jacket and shoes as I had a mistake in the address. Now I'm not sure if I should reorder. Really need a jacket and shoes, they are good bargains (£ RRP 140, price 48 for both) but I just have reservations about spending the money. Mmmmmhhhh.....

Lilt. Sorry to hear the news about your Mum.Look after yourself.

Mothernerd. Congatulations on getting a new hip.Just reading what you do in a day makes me feel tired!! Love your rainbows.

Had a spend day yesterday. Needed bread and onions, also got a T.V. guide.
£1.85 spent in total. Few things are getting low so I can feel a "big shop" happening soon.
De-cluttered a few things at weekend thanks to eb*y and got some ££s in return. Not counting the postage costs for those as the buyers paid. Is that allowed?

No heating on here, yet. Luckily live in a first floor flat so no outside doors. Also double glazing, caviety (sp)wall insulation and loft insulation.

Up to 7 NSD so far though was tempted by an Am*zon e-mail about a book on decluttering!!!Not buying it would be one less piece of clutter to get rid of!!!

NSD. Lining paper on attic stairs (4 pieces to go, but only short lengths), one lot of paint finished off + 1/4 packet of paste. Cleaned the roller and brush, may empty remains of another tin into the tray to use on the lining paper tomorrow. Organised another couple of things to go out the door on Friday (rest of the quad roll of lining paper is going to a new home to be used as drawing paper and someone wants to buy one of the things I advertised yesterday (and I have been told about another, local site).

Still some things I would like to finish today (to smooth the way tomorrow) but glad to have got things done (really not feeling it). Using up bits from the fridge for meals (+ 2 of the 'fish' which turned out to be sliced meat in thin gravy). Just thrown curry sauce all over the second lot, so it was a bit different from dinner (too tired to think of something else).

    Will keep plodding.

Good news, mum might be out of hospital by weekend (was told yesterday it was going to be a further week and a half) but she can't go on her holiday, she has to rest (and de-clutter, wait till I get round there). May have managed to sort some of DS2's stuff - told him yet again to contact council (on-line form) to get 2 sofas and tank tv moved and still someone interested in his washing machine.

Evening all :) I couldn't post for a while as I couldn't get access to the laptop!

Lilt sending hugs to you and your family at this difficult time.

    Mothernerd-Congratulations on the hip :T
CEW-Arnica 30c Strength would really help with any swelling after your tooth extraction and aids the healing too.

Phoenix -Are you sure you don't live with my son-he's another one with no clue about the cost of energy  drives me mad.

Tori k- I'm another one who reigns in the spends as they get older. We too are not religious. I do hold a family get together at Christmas every other year, but my siblings don't contribute ever. This year I may ask. Particularly they drink alcohol, but I don't and always buy it. I may ask them to get that.

My heating has been on for a while now. I'm cold all the time anyway, but the last few days has been testing for me, lol.
I've racked up another SFD but also no exercise day. Will try to get some in tonight :o

Well have a good evening everyone and keep going :T

Quick check in , and ended up sneaking in another SFD. Planned to nip to Sainsbo's to use up a £1 money off voucher that expires today while DS2 at football, but was cancelled due to soggy pitch - cue quick rethink of fajita menu to make up for missing second pack of wraps, just padded it out with some rice as well. Just as well, would have ended up buying post football treats for DS & friend and other bits that will need in next few days but wasn't desperate for yet......

Both my DS's are no longer Xmas believers, makes it less meaningful as we're not religious either, but though it may spoil the magic, it has turned into a good lesson about the value of money as they know how much they have and how much they can get for it - one "big" present soon eats into their allocated Xmas money, so it's not all about how much "stuff" they get.

Just read that back and it sounds quite cold, but neither DS is particularly materialistic so hopefully we're doing something right and they still enjoy Xmas, just for different traditions than the jolly red fella.....:)
