  • Hello everyone! Check in for day 2, which I'm claiming as a NSD - this excludes my parking for uni, but as there's no alternative and I have to buy it on the day, I have decided that these shall not count, as long as I don't spend anything else. So new month totals below:

    NSDs: 1/16
    Petrol (till 15th Oct) £0/£0
    Groceries (till 15th Oct) £0/ £20
Exercise 1/ 20 (aim is to take a lunchtime walk every day in October)

Very stressful day with work then uni, which thankfully ended early. Off to bed!

Thanks applemuncher for letting me off naughty step.

Had a lovely day off work, moved one ton of topsoil, dug up bits patio, filled with bamboo and pebbles, got a sun tan in Oct, got free spade, rake and two hoes, thanks to Facebook give away free local site.

Went did An emergency shop £10 but needed milk, bread and a toffee apple cake think I burnt off enough calories to deserve it. Then a long dog walk. Tired and aching so early night.

    Get well soon turtles.

Sugar tomorrow need petrol and sawdust (bunny) still no Sfd.

Yes, going to Tesco with the kids at stupid o'clock in the morning before work wasn't to clever. Totally done in. Just waiting for washing machine and then off to bed.

Thanks for the name change advice. I think the biggest hassle and expense will be my German passport. Both of us will have to travel to the German embassy in Edinburgh, taking about a dozen documents with us. The rest shouldn't be to bad it seems.

    Night night

stewby - you may get the 'prize' for most miles travellled in October, but it is an exceptional month for you.

It is more to become aware of jumping in the car when we could use our legs (or a bus for mothernerd) instead with a bit of forward planning.

soa - we allocate planned kiddie activities that need paying weekly as an NSD, so I reckon your uni parking should be like that too. Claim those NSDs!

shyspender - could you get the work boots for now and save up for your own ones for Nov? If they are free and half-decent/-usable, claim them!

Calling that cake is'well deserved!well done on your freebies.

treat yourself kindly and give your body time to recover.

I have had a mixed day. Had a bath and washed my hair and set off for the doctors. £5.20 for anybus ticket, think I have done about 5 miles by bus and 3,000 steps (may be 6,000 as I counted clicks of my stick which was 2 steps per click). Kept forgetting to count (took the pedometer but it must have worked loose as it was only on 11 when I came out of the doctor's surgery and I had crossed the road twice, done a quick trip round the mini SM and walked from the bus stop in the car park 135 and from the entrance to the doctor's waiting room 229) so a guesstimate made on the bits I did count (1000 to top end of shopping street to get favourite bread at a decent price).

Had 15 minutes to spare before the hospital bus, so spent £3.49 in little Arseda including a sandwich and a small orange juice. Couldn't get bread last week, have used the 2 x 2slices from the freezer, took water and choc wafer biscuits with me, but as I left the house at 9.30 am and didn't get back until nearly 2pm, everything I took and the things I bought were eaten and would have cost at least double at the doctor's/ hospital.

Asked receptionist which doctor was more likely to arrange transport for next week and now it's done by the ambulance people so she gave me the number. Waited to see doctor anyway and then noticed that today is start of 'open clinic' session for flu jabs, so asked to be put in that queue as well. So had flu jab and blood pressure (bp excellent) then saw the doctor to ask about pain management classes (he had never heard of them, I know one of mum's partner's daughters was referred to one). I said I had not slept well, taken pain killers this morning and it was at least 2 hours before I could take any more, so he has increased the dosage of the ones I have (4 times stronger) and given me a prescription for the ones I have been buying (3 times stronger - only need 3 a day max) with a warning to take care as with diabetes they can cause clots.

Took bus back to bus station and got timetables for next week's bus marathon - good news is the anybus ticket covers me as far as the hospital, even though it is over the county border. Just as well because I failed the ambulance interview - because I can get on a bus I am expected to make my own way there, even though successive journeys make me progressively weaker and I haven't even done a 1 hour journey since before last Christmas, let alone a 3 1/2 to 4 hour 3 bus marathon (based on the timetables).

Did another little shop at 1celand £7.14 (including bread, yippee).

Spoken to mum on the phone, she has had a setback but I am assuming it is part of the process of adjusting her medication to get the dosage right.

Have had another short trip to take all the cs stuff to the library (open until 7pm tonight) and bought 2l fizzy water for next week (will freeze it to keep food cool and take usual water bottle to start) and bananas.

Should clock up a few NSDs as unless someone offers me a lift to visit mum, I am not going over the doorstep until I have to.

Things that made me smile - 2 little girls about 2 and 4 years were running up and down the 'Nett* slope' - long curved path that comes down from the car park to street level. They were having a great time. An oldish man on the bus was holding his Jack Russel like a baby and keeping up a running commentary, pointing out the things on the street to it like you would with a small child and saw a man with two tiny puppies (Jack Russells again I think but one was chestnut brown - Jack Russell/ Dachshund cross?) but very sweet.

Sorry Stewby - I whipped your crown away as soon as it was handed out. I am doing 404 miles to home & back in October. But since that will likely be my only car journeys anywhere and everywhere else will be walking (or possibly a tram while home) I will not beat people who do mileage for work daily!

Late check in...(again)...for day 2 from me.

Claiming a SFD as only spent on painkillers and adult bonjela as toothache is actually ab abscess

Ha a physio session today followed by lunch out courtesy of OH than an appointment with a solicitor to check through a settlement contract with work regarding my redundancy in November. Everything was fine as I suspected so all signed by me just need the solicitor to add his bits and it will be sent back to work for them to sign :j

Does it sound crazy to be so excited about redundancy? I'm really looking forward to a complete lifestyle change.

Physio is really pleased with my progress, 2 more sessions then she will sign me off. Dizzy ness has all but disappeared and my left hand side (the weaker side) is now much stronger and is now has a better relationship with my brain. They appear to be on speaking terms most of the time now :rotfl:

I have most of my groceries for the month although I will need a small Sainsbobs shop for items I could not get at Aldi, plus some regular items that I have extra Nectar points vouchers for. I have a meal plan for the month. Must keep it away from OH as he can't cope with seeing it all written down as if he sees the same meal twice he feels it's repetitive. He knows it's not really as there is a 2-3 week gap between them but his brain just sees the duplicates

The plan is very fluid and can be tweaked as we go through the month and does seem to work for us. I have set one day a week as an experimental/Fake Away day as we both want to try out some new recipes.

Painkillers have finally kicked in so off to sleep now.

See you all later today or maybe early hours of Saturday (seems to be the routine at the moment)
