I just wanted to update this thread and bring this story to a happy conclusion.

After an investigation by Hertfordshire trading standards, and a court case brought against Chris Whatcott in which he initially pleaded innocence, meaning the court case was going to last 4 - 5 weeks, after 3 days of witness statements Christopher Whatcott has pleaded guilty and the case has come to an end, he will be sentenced on February 24th and the judge has said that ALL options are open including a custodial sentence.

The moral of the story .. if somebody is participating in dodgy trading practices, the more people that complain to Trading Standards, action fraud police and consumer advice, the more chance that a rogue trader will be caught out and made to pay.

Chris Whatcott has been caught with thanks to all the people in these forums and those that reported him.
  • Unfortunately Mr. Whatcott is now in business at least at lowcostepc . com

I came across the website lowcostepc and requested an EPC and then tried to cancel it after two days, and I was threatened by solicitors with letters telling me that I had to pay 99.95 pounds in late fees.

I have since contacted the Hertfordshire trading standards office which successfully prosecuted Mr. Whatcott this year, who is looking into this matter and will work to bring further charges to Mr. Whatcott. I have offered them my full help and availability to be a witness.

Avoid Mr. Christopher Whatcott and any of his websites at all costs! At least based on my own experience.

After posting this review I received a further threatening letter from Mr. Whatcott which I have forwarded to the trading standard too.

Funnily enough he now claims I owe him 250 pounds for posting a review on trustpilot...

Note that he may be also using other websites (savi perhaps?) I am not exactly sure which other ones. Therefore be careful if you see the name of Christopher Whatcott coming up on any others.

If you have any trouble I would advise you to talk to the Hertfordshire trading standards straight away. They have been very helpful with me and continued to advise me on what to do.

Mr Whatcott at Lowcostepc is not new.

Here is a thread from 2015:
  • What's new is that despite being convicted and currently on a suspended sentence, he still keeps his website(s) live and scamming people.

I am in daily contact with the Hertfordshire trading office who is considering how to proceed.

Another visit to the courts and conviction (this time I do hope not suspended) is the outcome I hope will happen.

I recommend anyone who falls again for this fraudster to contact the trading standards office straight away and give availability as witness.
