I think I will go with the £19.99 deal for 8MB BB and AOL Talk. I can still use 18866 to make all my UK mobile and overseas calls so thats fine...? I'm currently paying AOL £14.99 for 2MB BB so this works out at £5 extra per month for a free laptop... I know prices may drop over time but I dont think this is a bad deal?...

Can someone say "Yes Vijay this deal works out sensible for you". I don't want to make this 24 month decision on my own MSErs! :D

Anyone got any advice on the above?

Also, when I told someone at work I was taking up the laptop offer they said they'd read that the contract cost increased by £10 after the first six months of the deal. Anyone spotted this as I couldn't see it?

anyone know what this guy is on about??? i'm worried now!!!

    This is completely false........
  • I have signed up for this offer instore so have the yellow confirmation slip ect.
I have one question though.....when the guy instore put my number through the system it came up that I would have to pay £29.99 a month because of 'where I live'. I have phoned AOL and they have told me it is because I pay my phone line rental to one-tel and not BT, and that if I change back to BT my payment will drop to £19.99. Is this true?
I am already an AOL broadband customer and have been for the last couple of years. I have just rung AOL again to try to get a proper confirmation from them only to be told again that it is because of where I live and that shortly everyone in my area will be paying £10 a month extra just to receive AOL. That cant be right can it. Why is it so hard to get a straight answer when all the different departments are obviously not reading from the same script. I have now emailed AOL customer services so am awaiting a response from them but just wondered if anyone else has come across this. Thank you

Go here http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php and enter your phone number and postcode. This will return a set of results saying what LLU broadband services are available at your exchange. There should be a green dot with "AOL LLU" next to it if AOL have their equipment in your exchange, if this is not the case then you would have to pay the extra £10 per month as they have to actually pay BT to provide your broadband connection rather than providing it themselves.

I checked with the above link and there's no AOL in our area according to that but I just phoned up AOL and we do have it and don't have to pay the £10 extra a month....I live in a large town so I was surprised it wasn't found on the above link
  • Thank you Bargains...I have done that and this is what info it gave me

Congratulations, you are in a broadband enabled area.
However, there is another service on your phone line (e.g. ADSL, LLU, DACS, etc) that would prevent you from ordering a new ADSL connection.

The following services are available in your location:

lg_green.gifBT Wholesale ADSL lg_green.gifBT Wholesale ADSL Max lg_green.gifTalkTalk (CPW) LLU lg_orange.gif21CN PSTN migration due Oct-Dec 2010
So taking it that the TalkTalk (CPW) is carphone warehouse, which is owned by AOL doesnt that mean that my exchange is enabled. Oh I m so confused lol, thanks agin

  • I dont understand it at all, I will wait to see what AOL tell me when they get around to answering my email. I was going to phone BT to get some more info but wondered if they might just tell me to switch back to them for my landline just for the sake of it.
