My AOL router (a standard Netgear box) arrived four days AFTER my migration went through.
AOL "technical support" will only support you with issues if you are using that box.
Do remember to count the 7 workings days "Cooling Off Period" just in case, like I wasn't, you aren't happy with your AOL service/support, as that allows you to bale out before you're committed (to a 12m-18m-24m contract).0 -
Here's a question I am too embarrassed to post on the Techie board.
The Dell is supposed to be an 80gb hard drive but in My Computer it shows as 61.8gb with 9.99gb Recovery zone.
Is this how it's supposed to be? Is the missing space for Vista or something?"Life is like a game of cards. The hand you are dealt isdeterminism; the way you play it is free will.” Jawaharlal NehruI am a magnet for all kinds of deeper wondermentI am a wunderkind ohI am a ground-breaker naive enough to believe thisI am a princess on the way to my throne0 -
Mine says the same regarding space on harddrive...has any1 who is an existing aol member but not in contract done this offer yet??? and if so did it go smoothly??0

Well to ressurect an old thread, my two years is nearly up in October and I'm now reviewing what I've got with AOL and looking at moving on, possibly to Sky to negotiate a full home phone, broadband and HD/Sky+ package. There must be a few people in the same two year boat now, how's it been?, any issue with the service, the laptop?, our laptop battery has all but given up after around a year operating just on mains now, but Dell lappy itself has been reliable and adequate for general surfing, AOL service has been in the main reliable if a little slow at peak times, but the compu;ulsory home phone package totalling £40 per month is now looking expensive having paid for the laptop so I think it's MAC time. Anyone any views, anyone left AOL, any tips for cancelling, timescales, strategies etc.
How's it been................0 -
Hi Gaz, I had a couple of months left on the initial 2 year deal... I called them up and was quoted that to leave AOL I would have to pay a £75 charge on top of any remaining months charges.... I was adamant I was not going to pay this, some woman said "That charge was in the initial T&C's) to which I replied "No it ISNT! I still have the terms and conditions, no where does it say about the £70 charge" got put through to someone else, told them I was going all in with Sky, they told me that yep that the Sky deal was good, but after 12 mnths phone line with SKy, BT will come looking for a reconnectioon charge (scare tactics I think) anyhoo the result was that I kept AOL, but had the package price dropped from £24 pm to ......£6.99 pm! this meant that the initial "all in " deal with Sky was not as good, I upgraded to HD with Sky, stayed with AOL, am now approx £15 pm better off....
Give them a call!Sig ah Sig Ahhh0
