Middle names?

(Seriously, can't you just get a book like normal folk?!)Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
You're not pregnant yet, right?
Aren't you only about 22 anyway? What's the hurry to conceive when you aren't living in a permanent home yet, your health has been bad, and your partner is revealing a very unpleasant side of himself to you?
If I were you, I wouldn't be daydreaming about baby names, I'd be getting myself an implant and hanging fire for a few years.0 -
Also, be prepared to spend hours choosing a name and taking one look at baby and thinking "He doesn't look like a Jack!" and having to chose a new name.0

And that would give your OH time to train his family not to make racist comments in front of you and any future children.0 -

And to deal with whatever the "big secret issue" is that your partner is likely to have if you do get pregnant......Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0

I honestly haven't meant them to sound that way. I don't get the impression that he is in charge at all but it just frustrates me that he's not very negotiable when it comes to middles names and he said he wasn't bothered about them in the first place.
I suppose you won't get what I'm trying to say without meeting OH - the man hasn't got a bad bone in his body. I do think it's personal preference and the worry of Irish and Pakistani names going together. But each to their own.
My health situation has improved after having many blood tests but I'm still getting over it - hopefully I will be back to normal soon.
As for the living situation, I should be moving house in January - that baby still likes to scream the house down but if anyone read that thread they would find that I did discuss how I would feel when it was my own child.
Once again, I thank you all for your comments, suggestions and advice.
Can I have some actual name ideas again now please?!
If you aren't allowed a pakistani middle name for your child what makes you think you will be allowed to teach him/her about your heritage?Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
So you don't know if he just doesn't like the names or doesn't like the culture? To be honest, I don't like the sound of pakistani names, especially males, but it has nothing to do with the culture. I just don't like the sound of them just like I don't like the sound of other names from different cultures.
However, you don't know, I would certainly want to find out because if indeed he is rejecting that side of your heritage, don't you think it is something you should know before committing to him?0 -
It never occurred to me to have a falling out over baby names before our son was conceived.........0

After reading this thread...so many different opinions!! My thought was maybe there's a nickname that one of your Pakistani relatives was/is called that your OH might find acceptable. It would be a shame not acknowledge your roots if you intend to acknowledge his. My son has both of his grandfather's names as his 2 middle names.SPC7 ~ Member#390 ~ £432.45 declared :j
